the thing is, balance was badly botched so screens with 7 piercing can still deal 25% of damage to 55 SHBB armor ships
so heavy attack is basically a stat to scare enemy carriers (as it attacks the backrow first, it forces the enemy to have capital ships to prevent carriers from dying) and to provide shore bombardement to units

hello guys, im playing as canada and it seems i just cant make my troops cross the atlantic ocean and into africa. any good strategy or guides. seems like ill have to build up my navy?
coup with intelligence agency, get lucky with historical turned off (easiest ways off the top of my head)
Put a front line somewhere in africa, as it will automatically route them there. Otherwise, you have to manually move the to a province with a naval supply hub and then click on a naval supply hub (those are the port symbols btw) to get them there
And make sure it's accessible via port and not blocked by a set of straights (3 most prominent examples are that if you are at war with whoever controls the straight of gibraltar, the danish belts, or Istanbul you can't move ships through them)
still no luck with the front line thing seems i have to build up my navy and control sectors of the sea
playing tfr right now, and for some reason my focus completes the day after the last day. i thought usually when it hits the last day it is completed?

i think a day needs to pass aftter reaching the required amount
but usually it always completes on the day it hits the final day. So I would usually see 29/30, and then the next day the focus is done, and I would never see 30/30, but now all of a sudden focuses take a day longer than it’s supposed to.

building the supply hub took so long and due to locked conscription laws im unable to get more
that sounds like you'd need to ask for advice on the rt56 discord instead (for the rt56 focuses part)
for the supply, it's simpler : no supply = no attack
supply hubs take too long to build so you want to use the ones already there to the most of it, for that you need to motorize your supply lines and not deathstack troops. As for manpower, if it's at 0 you're doing something horrendously wrong : Delete as many units as you need to replenish the other divisions. Divisions with full equipment and manpower with a good design are infinitely better at doing their job than undermanned, underequipped and unprepared divs, except in scenarios where you can run around your enemy, which clearly isn't the case
and last but not least, if you see that your attacks aren't working, do not smash your skull on a brick wall, stop the assaults, try to figure out what's going on and adapt your strategy

ranged is typically better than high agility by a very marginal amount, but you do get faster funds gain too so you get a quicker ramp-up out of it i believe

light aircraft designer is better than both range-focused and high agility per plane basis, but both of those get a 10% production bonus
(multi-role and range-focused have a similar relationship on medium frame, but multi-role isn't that good for light aircraft)

1-2 torpedos in dd design is fine and the rest should be dual purpose guns for the other slots. Once the dual purpose guns deal with the enemy schreening ships, the torpedos will deal with rest of their fleet

Patrol looks for fleets. Strike force only engages when the fleet is spotted already

If you think your navy is ready for anything then yea. But the more important thing is to set repairs to never and manually repair ships if they are low.

Auto split is tied to repair priority which you want it on never repair so it wouldn't work really

near gibraltar and suez ig. Just bcs those are entries to mediterranean. Once you caputre both of those entries from UK u dont need to worry about being nav invaded. (Ofcourse you want to clear out north africa's french territory and uk holdings in middle east too)
ALRIGHT! now for ethiopia, is doing the mission "pacify ethiopia" important? cuz getting complience is hard and honestly the bonuses aren't worth it. like at all. the other missions are fine but this one takes a lot of pp and the reward just isn't there really. also when the war starts, I can't really spare troops to protect ethiopia. I have an army to hold the line for france and one to attack the north side of africa and one other to take over albania

I've found conflicting descriptions in the HOI4 wiki regarding how the armor advantage org dice works, and I'd like to clarify the actual game behavior.
Relevant defines:
LAND_COMBAT_ORG_DICE_SIZE = 4(base org dice)LAND_COMBAT_ORG_ARMOR_ON_SOFT_DICE_SIZE = 6("extra damage dice if our armor outclasses enemy")
Version A (Land battle.mw, line 46):
"the organization dice size is increased by LAND_COMBAT_ORG_ARMOR_ON_SOFT_DICE_SIZE"
This implies additive: base 4 + extra 6 = total 10 → 1d10, average 5.5. This was updated by an editor in Dec 2025.
Version B (Land units.mw, line 55):
"change the organization damage dice roll per attack from 1d4 to 1d6" (via template expansion)
This implies replacement: 1d4 → 1d6, average 3.5. Multiple 1.14-era tutorials also describe it this way.

however, if you wish to get more difficulty, as I used to before basically only playing MP or achievement runs, you should try overhaul mods that mess with the AI. Oak2, World Ablaze, BICE, Total War and whatnot

add support arty and remove the engineers (too costly). Hospital is good but doesn't do enough to justify the cost
also, ensure you have enough on the line to fill the combat width + have reserves everywhere (6 divs per tile everywhere), that they're fully equipped and supplied and that you're producing guns 2 or 3 (guns 0 and 1 have very little stats)

once again ,don't fall for the noobtrap of giving up very good defensive terrain just for "river"
and don't invest into forts when you need mils to get equipment and divs out to man the line
Green is best line, blue is secondary line (has two variants in the south), red is last line
each yellow line is a viable and advised extension of what you want to hold if you can man it, on the red line, the yellow areas are basically mandatory to solidify it
the orange areas are "hotspots" where enemy AI will mass troops at regularly, making it easy to predict enemy force concentration

Play as poland and go habsburg path, conquer or puppet the required states for Austria-Hungary, then intentionally allow a 100% resistance occupation, let the occupied state form Austria-Hungary, then capitulate and puppet them. Use the Polish focus tree to unite with the Bohemian Crown and that should grant you cores to all of them. Idk if they patched this tho
