Anyone have video guide recommendations explicitly for “moving and using your navy”?
Not fighting. Not build guides. Literally just how to move ships. Make fleets. Organize task groups in your fleets. Do patrols in more than one sector. Etc. so many buttons, most don’t do what I think they do when I click.
Imma be honest just ignore reliability
Whats IC?
production cost
As long as it’s above 40% u barely need to worry about attrition
It doesn't
we just call it ic (industrial cost)
ok then max it
your mechs will eventually end up on a mountain or in a marsh anyhow
Later imma fix my Division templates first
for my finland game i had 700 32w divisions fully equipped with mech
thats like
4 army groups
hence this
I have a strong Navy but Weak Airforce ngl
both are easy
you can get away with no navy but air force is your life and blood
without it ur washed
Cooked, I built a Strong Navy to cap Japan early but didn't focus on my Airforce Im a little cooked
How did you get that many
cheat mods
Lmao
with an airforce you can just battleplan with those mechs (and their appropriate support companies)
as i said i was using cheat mods
Whats the Support companies I need?
I didn’t read that far
Do I have to lose the Signal companies
yyeah im bored of vanilla gameplay
support arty, armoured recon, logistics, field hospital, medium flame tank
there are designs for the recon and flame tank in here
check pinned
or whatever
guys i need advice, does this focus miss something? Im making a cats mod where mainland europe are cats and they are invading everything but cats are scared of water so england and ireland are the only hope in europe
theres a mutual focus coming too btw
Ngl I thought it was 6 million
Even plus all the nordics, greater Finland, and Estonia, I doubt you get to 15 mil
What doctrine is better mass assult or rapid dominace
depends on what country
grand assault
always
or if you can get desperate defense
desperate defense was so much fun when there wasnt a requirement
lmao
Nope you're about halfway there
How did you get enough manpower to get that many marines using the glitch holy shi
had to like delete half mz armz
i hv only 50reg divs now
but marines are better anyways
That’s Sweden
Norway/ Denmark are like 3m each
So 12m for those 3
4m ish from greater Finland
And 1 mil per Baltic
So 19m
sfp is also very strong but not needed in sp
wdym not needed
also i meant grand assault not gbp
gbp is just better in most cases for sp
fair enough
is grand assault the only "best" option though, and desperate defense being useful in niche situations
and everything else being mid
dont listen to clown hes evil
ok
there are other options for specific „builds“ but in sp ur just gonna do battleplan with air
so grand assault is just the best by far
yes
okay bet
what are other options may i ask
me
anyone know fun country to play
desperate for any inf build is pretty good bc of mp, mission type tactics is great for org
finland
guerilla is good on soviets and usa and if u don’t have the army xp to change it its honestly fine to keep
do youy know one that get al lot of cores
democratic germany into european union
afghanistan
or italy into roman empire with eu cores
graveyards of empires is only dlc i dont have
or oswald mosley empire with eu cores
brasil
i should do another mosley run
guerilla is a doctrine tho that u want in the early game and then change before war to something better but in vanilla u usually struggle to get mastery in time without abusing freaky converts
so italy the best
i see
and wchich path is for romean empire
how do i play carlist spain? i've tried focusing on the north or spreading out but none worked out for me
Close enough
Does this boost the actual project of a nuclear weapon or what exactly does it mean ?
Why do my divisions always move away from the front line every time I put them there
ah
nuclear breakthrough point
its a nucelar breakthru point
anyone some help?
What happens if I was at war with austria and then germany does the anschluss?
u lose austria
Doesn't seem to turn the war off though
I mean I still have a front line there and an attack plan
But I'm not at war with germany it seems like
u can make frontlines in countries at peace too
guys where do i focus?
And why did it tell me to add divisions to a task after I tried to make a battle plan using the field marshall?
don't put anything in the states you get by default (check your focus but it should be burgos, galicia, leon and eastern aragon + navarra
and salamanca
does bilbao and asturias work well?
So doesn’t boost the actual project just the bar of new projects?
I generally do 2 on barcelona (to bait AI) then focus bilbao and asturias up to lvl 2 then max out the on that isn't contested by the AI to ensure I get one lvl 3 then just spam the other to get it lvl 2 or 3
don't forget to suppress strikes constantly
so you don't get screwed over by the timers. If you don't you'll get less territories, less units, less equipment
thanks!
How to core these states?
you have to click release nation
how does turkey not have cores on kurdistan in the first place
Cuz it aint kurdish
What is civ greeding
can anyone tell me what's going on?
building a lot civs
the soviet div was in battle when the owner changed
oh
i thought soviets moved on to support falangists lol
just kill them
either focus or pp decision
What is attrition?
ugh basically you will lose way more equipment with attrition
think about it like your unit is taking DoT
then you are stacking too many units one tile where there is low supply
Oh...
So I can't just stack my whole armee onto one single tile
you shouldnt
each tile has different combat width
You are not fighting with more divisions if you alreayd maxed out on width
Try to only keep like 2 or 3 divs in that tile
atrition should be reduced or perish
With large man power pool and on dessert tile should I have more width ? Like 3x4?
What are some good hoi4 youtubers?
i sorrow productions
How many divisions should I have per armee?
just stick to the cap
one army can have 24 divisions
30 later on with right trait
thats on garrison duty
^
How do I set up a front line to a country I am only connected with by water?
its very small
but you just do a normal front line on the connection
what country are you
Any doctrine / grad strategy guides for the new UI? Everything I find looks and seems to function differently.
I am italy and want to invade albania
grand battle plan, grand assault, & assault infantry i think are the best
you don’t need to invade
you have a focus that will auto annex them
What would you choose for a marine and aircraft carrier heavy military?
question if i want to make an "elite" tank division (One thats just absolutely overpowered in every single aspect) what should i use for it and what stats should i go for
lol
even if theyre high production so i can just have a shit ton of infantry and make them responsible for breakthroughs
and encirclements
theres a guide out there i gotta find it
I didn't even notice that part of the huge focus tree until now
lmaooo
IMO italy isn’t a good starting nation
germany is better imo
what are the most important tank stats for tanks that you want to be absolute units and high cost but just generally good stats
The guide from the official youtube channel said so😭
and be responsible for attacks
💀💀💀
soft attack & break through i think
italy does just throw everything at you
in sp you want high soft attack
im going multi
imo the best is canada because you have nothing to worry about
i have to team with my friend (yugo) against my other friend
(turkey)
as germany
for some reason
he doesnt want to help us
and just kill us
bro as germany it doesnt even matter what the other guy does
the thing is that hes allying the entire world
including the ussr
and he isnt even the primary goal
but if im too distracted hes just gonna kill my friend
also
wait so he is in a faction with the whole world?
he almost forced a guarantee on me
He tries to be
wait what
he got into the allies
and relations with italy
and relations with the ussr
and sweden
sealion uk in 39
yeah turkey can do that
but if you cap uk it should be good
my friend got 20 tank divisions
by 1939
SOMEHOW
turkey has no eco and not alot of manpower
as turkey?
he got market access to everything
yeah
shitty tanks
i had spies on him
whats the template
you are germany
you can cas him to death too
Guys for defending dessert border against mass German army should I use a bigger infantry template ?
Like 22 with or 30 ?
doubt
use the template i send
specifically for the desert you can
and add support at
whats the shh for
cant i change it for stosstruppen
how many hours does your friend have?
I might go prussian path
my yugo friend doesnt even know how to do anything
re add it
and turkey?
how many hours
oh ok
they lower soft attack
oh lord
like ik to put them in my marines
but theres like no other point?
Not really
hes beaten me in other startegy games
before
also
hes manipulating my friend.
aswell
uh
i deleted this game
sell your friend off your germany
you can take both
i got sick of getting blaasted
also in what way is he manipulating him lol?
Wdym I can't find a single pixel I can place it on
you can only do frontlines on connecting land
ngl i thought you meant like sicily to italy
you can cross the straight witgout naval invading
how to naval invade ?
No how to cross the straight without navel invading
you can’t
unless you fight through yugoslavia lmao
or have albania as your territory
That'd be helpful too ig
It's grayed out for some reason
muhaha
hey, i've had the dlc subscription for some time but when i factory reset my pc they no longer appear in the files and steam says i dont own them despite me paying mounthly
What’s the general rule when defending what the withd should be ?
Whatever combat width your troops are on
anyone wanna play together
while looking forward to the capitulation i was wondering what i should do. like puppeting all states or taking all for me? I like puppets but also recourses
Why cant i click another air mission? Is there something like a cap?
The second the alloed came I got destoyed... well gg
pls dont tell me i build this for a cap of 10 airraids
Is there a point of game over in hoi4?
When ur pc starts sounding like a jet engine
Dw that's since the start
But I'm a german puppet and I think I don't even have any land left
Whats Best loyalty to the furher or succeser
I FOUND THE LAST ITALIAN POVINCE
And unlocked my atomic research
How do I still exist thanks to germany...
it worked. Took like half an hour to setup all the airstrikes before WW3
What does rocket interceptor project do ?
It’s in electronics
another one of those gimmick projects you should ignore imo
Yeah that's what I unlocked
But i think that game is pretty much done anyway
do you know how it compares to jets
no, since I don't care about rockets. I see it as just a gimmick and jet planes are an end game tech anyways.
same
only time ive gotten them was for the achivment for poland
like i didnt een know theres a rocket engine 2 and 3
He keeps instilling fear into him
and being passive aggresive
in vc
saying he wont attack you then do something hostile
like cancelling the non aggresion pact
tell him you will bomb him with cas if he doesnt stop
or forcing me into a guarantee
and that you will send full military support
i told him that
i also threatened him with a navy
and my full military support
and he still did NOT withdraw
we told him to join us against the ussr too
send down 24x of the divisions i send you
with full air support
and he wont talk like that
Im not that worried about him but
i am worried he might have some impact
if i start ww2
and then fight the ussr
because the more you let the ussr build up the harder it becomes to fight
just kill the uk before you go into the soviets
if you invade soviets in 1940
with the divs i sent you
and collabs
and full green air
its very easy
Bet
also i think he has more hours than hes shown me
since my yugo friend has 200 hours and apparently they played together before
and the turkey guy beat him as albania
Pretty sure im better than both of them though
sounds just like the yugo guy was ass
your germany
so its not too hard
He doesn't even know how to play naval
and when i tried hleping him with bulgaria
my units starved to death
no supply
we still did win
but i took more losses than it shouldve taken
and let him starve
Yeah
what dlcs do you have?
thats actually what i was planning to do LOL
but id turn on yugo later on
just because i want turkey dead
so i add stosstruppen for super heavy howitzer and add support at
Bet
yea you dont need the super heavy one
dont forget getting good air tho
as turkey he wont have good air
Mhm
do you have the air designer dlc?
whats the best doctrine for that infantry though
Yeah
atleast with him
he has all dlcs
you go assault infantry and grand operations
those are the important ones
as germany
upgrade focke wulf
produce with them
so you get the range buffs
Oh Bet
why are my divisions not attacking
green air?
hi
enough transport planes
guys
invasion planned yet?
i want some tips for germany
Do i still keep mobile warfare
or should i change it off
go to superior firepower or grand battleplan
probably gbp tho
alright
yes
also @uncut narwhal Idk if what ive been doing is a good idea
ive been trying something
where i like
Get out fresh recruits early
and train them off the bat
until they get +2 levels
and then send them onto the frontline
It was kinda efficient for me
wait till theyve finished training
but i guess logistically
yes
is there an actual way to reduce training time i only know the -10% for german military junta
but getting more manpower gets rid of that
not really
what
what is some tips for germany
Yeah but training time modifiers aren't really helpful
always i have problrm with germany
kill the british and do not let the ussr build up
the more you dont attack it the much more stronger than you it gets.
don’t build civs
?
if you attack it in 1939-1940 it's a lot weaker
but in 1941 going forward
it becomes EXPONENTIALLY stronger
by a lot
Just follow bittersteel's Germany guide
ok
thats meqn i should start ww2 before 1939
?
i don’t think he’s ready to cap uk before 41
@uncut narwhal how did you even get this much i added stosstruppen and support at and i only have 131 soft attack, 70 breakthrough, 450 defense,0 armor, and 31 hard attack, etc
gun tech
doctrines
etc
its fine anyways
so not only will i have
franz halder
10% infantry division buff
like 20% from generals
and ontop of that prussian buffs
Yeah that'll be fun
also uh @uncut narwhal one last thing i really want to know since i kind of already know about it but i haven't fully mastered it
how do i get full planning bonus and make it so every infantry on a frontline attacks forward at once
I've pulled it off before i think
even if its not practicla
make a frontline
draw an offensive arrow
and wait
for planning
then hit the arrow above your general
everybody will attack at once
how do you look at how much planning bonus you will get
on your divs
you can see
its a blue bar
Oh do i just make a ton of arrows infront of each infantry or do i stretch an arrow across the entire frontline
next to org and hp
Oh
no just one big one lol
yea just use a field marshal
I also like to take advantage of the spanish war
to get 2-4 vets
and my generals to get
infantry traits
should i agree? it seems a little bit unfair because the allies would get way more cores. what happens if i dont?
Normal peacedeal if you dont agree
That's usually for other traits, and try to support Republican Spain to get the Spanish gold
Unless you have less than 50% warscore, agreeing is only for if you want historical flavor
what do you exactly get from the spanish gold reserves
ive never actually tried
supporting it
i've just been doing nationalist
-15% consumer goods factor for a year
oh thats really good
that could mean i can keep up mefo bills longer
so more military factories
So if you're at 100 factories that's 3 free civs for a year for the cost of 25 pp
ah okay, but if i disagree and when i am in the peace conference could i still make the puppet "GDR" just with a few more cores?
Mefo bills aren't a problem until 1940 if you do price controls
How do i make the mefo bills last the most
It's better to own Germany directly
Nope
You don't you try to autarky asap
is that even possible with only 66% warscore?
i usually only go four year plan
cuz i also want the whole eastern europe as my puppets
if you go non historical do economic growth
Should I even use the large canons on figthers ?
is that the 1940 tech or later
cannon 1 is 39 i think large is 40
i’ve never used cannons
the later one yes, dont use the first one
stick to heavy mgs in meantime
Is there a way to get the China faction to join war against axis ?
china is usually dead by then...
everyone joins theirr faction anway
anyone wanna play?
I'm brand-new to the game, and while I don't have the $90 for the six DLCs that were recommended to me, I do have the $36 for the By Blood Alone, La Resistance, and No Step Back DLCs.
Do those sound reasonable for a noob like me?
i am trying to do the pope achievements, but when capping france i annexed it instead of turning it into a puppet. because of this my Balance of power shifted right ALOT. I've done 0 right focuses/decisions and after stregthen the papacy, im still at 15% right. I know that the liturgical reforms refreshes yearly, but rn its 1940 and im 15% to the right.
would releasing france / ethiopia shift me left? any other ways to shift left faster than waiting 5 years?
How can the Cpu naval invade on the other side of the globe? No way they actually have naval dominance in all the tiles. Its like impossible to defend against
how do u get access to the majors tank packs, like the soviet tank pack featuring the t54, t44 3d sprites etc
I have an issue where my super heavey ship is very slow and slow my strike force down how do people use them ? I was told they very good but they are very slow and it takes long before my fleet get to battle any advice?
yes
they add the designers & that’s pretty important for game play
Is there a focus for sovjet union with the road to 56 mod to conquer sweden?
you can just manually justify
but will great britain guarantee it? after ww2?
guys
Im playing India got all the axis and Japan on me form both sides and Britain and USA are not helping much they only some in Africa rest is constantly moving around the sea or in Britain can someone help me what’s going on why is AI behaving so bad ?
all my convoys are gone idk why i dont even do that much trade
i should have 784
and i dont have any naval invasions pending either
Hey @austere roost I’m stuck in British Malaya I’m fighting mountain plus river tile or forest rivertile supply is not bad but I don’t know how to get across or beat them
how is this even possible?
did you accept lend lease from someone
you need naval superiority first
does anyone have trouble with the AI being tougher? i used to be able to kick butt but now i cant make any progress
change the difficulty before u start the game
it alters how “aggressive” and “strong” AI is
convoys have like .1 aa
How do I use the nukes I have ?
Do I need to resseach intercontinental bomber or can I use strategic bombing ?
raid
nucelar raid
pretty sure you just need a strat bomber
Ok it mentioned both but cool
in the scenario of 1936, navy, how can i move them to the pacific if they are restricted? They did that update years ago and i still dont get it.
I dunno if I make mistake but it took me all the way to 1945 to make nuclear weapon but now I need to do 780 days to get thempnuclear weapon , am k doing it wrong ? Should I have built more nuclear facilities to resseach more same time ?
i am a newbie do NOT ask me about navy
Is super sonic jet the strong fighter ?
yes, technically its the best but it comes with some downsides too
like they are much more expensive then regular fighters and they have much shorter range but they have alot of speed
It takes too long to research
yeah that too
they don't have much shorter range
But it's the best plane and they have best range
so unless your game goes till like
You're thinking about jet engines
their main downsides is their resource usage and especially their research time
You can download faster special projects mod
oh wait shoot u right
But even with jet engines supersonics have more range than other planes
yeah, for supersonic fighters they have a high base range and so this mitigates the loss they have from being forced to equip jet engines
supersonic fighters are objectively the best effectiveness / cost you can get out of a fighter otherwise
Supersonics
Yeah
So it’s normal I first have it finished around 1946-47?
Yeah
But I also had faster special projects
But I didn't rush plane tech
So maybe you can get it by 1946
Im playing India lol I decided to also focus a bit on navry it’s impossible to build from scratch I have to build a lot of mills too but ressouces is problem to early with the big ships so I wasted a lot on trade with my civs only got 120 mills at 1945 with 200 divs
Yeah you can probably get it by 1945
navy is possible to build from scratch if you have 40 dockyards and 3 years I'd say
which if you're india you have
Yeah it’s possible I got 5 good battleships full heavry gun and 4 improved carriers and light cruisers and a SH BB with full gund ( I didn’t know I was supposed to not fill it because of speed )
Issue is destroyers I could first produce them late
But i dont know if it was mistake to build only BB and carriers early or to mix destroyers and capitals
And stole from the Soviet
I just don’t know if I’m doing it wrong building full battleships and light crusiers first that makes me use civs to trade ressouces
And +4 Italy still loses to base Uk navy
Yeah I just refit it mostly need their screens for protection on the capitals
But this issue so what slowed my mill production down a lot so I only have 120 mills in 1945 ?
anyone have problem with save mio update ? it just stupid remove when i new game again even after save.
so useless
Maybe I’m expecting too many screens to my navry strike force ?
But also this your thoughts @neat widget
I can maybe get good amount of dockyards in 1940 50 dockyards but a lot of spent on building civs and some mills early to have production of other things
how exactly do the french extra research slot focuses work after you come back to the mainland ass free france? can you just not do them?
how many screens do you have
You'd need about 40 destroyers I think since you have 10 capital ships and carriers
Maybe 26-30 atm building the others now
But other question should I build my captial ships early or wait a bit or build fewer at a time to have more civs for construction than trading for steel ?
Im not sure if im designing my battleships too ekspensiv either lol
Made them full heavey guns
Yo im playing German Reich and I just defeated france and I need help organizing my industry and research and army can someone help
yeah sure what do you need help with specifically?
That's a vague question.
imo early
because you get them earlier
they take a while
Would anyone be able to point me towards a good mountaineer and infantry template?
yeah build your capitals early
because they take so long to build
infantry temps should be about 18w with a 3x3 block of inf plus assorted support companies like suport arty, aa
for the destroyers you could build those with dockyards built later
mountaineers iirc should be around 35 w (I can't remember if line arty should be or shouldn't be used)
Ah, 35 and not 36?
no need for line arty. 32-33 width is better if you are fighting on mountaineers. 35-39 width is better if you are fighitng on plains/want to squeeze a little more stats
^
ah right well there u go
35w brings maximum attack/defense/breakthrough stats in plains because plains are a 70w tile
But you can go overwidth by 33%, so anything up to 46.5w is fine for plains
Gotcha gotcha. Should be fine with just 36 then?
yeah you should be fine
mountains were 30w per tile right?
25w
ah right
so the maximum you can fit there is 33.2w
Would it be better to shrink it a bit then?
there is a... schizo strat that involves bashing mountain tiles with 48w units (vistula might know about this) but genuinely are you okay if you're going to use it on this one tile in Algeria
could be, but the HP gains largely outweigh the stat increases by a certain point
I see. Probably just stick with 36w then?
Oran must have killed this player's pet
depends if you want to go into mountains or not with your mountaineers
Mm.. I mean I imagine the horde of infantry can help with that, but it does also feel weird not having mountaineers able to go into mountains lmao
it sounds weird, but it's pretty normal
the maximal size of mountaineers i've seen is 39.6w btw (22/0)
Ah, gotcha :O
18/0 would be 32.4w
which is typically what we recommend when using them in mountains
In any case, the more I hear about hoi4 the less confident i am in my decisions as you can see
Ah, 18/0 meaning 18 mountaineers in the division template right?
God yeah, it's why I can never give advice for any game I play, even if I feel like I know a decent amount-
get outta here lmao
also don't know why the guys in great war redux do that for their tanks too
<@&846894118219022336>
I've been making a secret spreadsheet for the past few days
Trying to get as much template information as I can on there
tanks in that mod make no sense
wait why
any idea how to fix this
and im pretty sure their armour can be penned with howitzers?
i was trying to play old versions of some mods idek what to do
stupid launcher error
don't you still get like 760 attack per division?
do you know how to fix it
try verify your game
if still not you can try install launcher manual
playing as the U.S. i have 15 capital ships set to "convoy raiding" to blockade Venezula. still says theres no blockade. Am I missing something?
im trying to remember its amount i havent played it in a while
um
Figured it out. I guess you gotta be at war first.
Wait what?! I thought 40width and beyond won't work
<@&846894118219022336>
because mountains are 50w 48w will still carry most stats
but this is exclusively for mountains and marshes
this is the division someone made when they looked at a mountain and got extremely angry
Oh yeah that makes sense.
Tho I wonder if in theory a 60 width division would work on a forest tile?
line artillery :XD
Like how much factories to put on what weapons what to research such as weapons and airplanes and how much divisions I need for ussr
fair
uh generally, for the ussr if your attacking in 1942 i go with about 2 army groups worth and leave an army or two on port guard
research your next guns, planes, tanks and keep up with the industry research
factories are dependent on what your need the most and your shift them around depending on if you have a lot of something but not enough of another
of course this is dependendnt on what your army is composed of
couldn't you fit one more battalion and make it a 50 width since mountain tiles are a max of 50 lol?
are you running any armor? mechanized? Mortised?
yeah but then if you attack in two directions you have issues because 75 * 1.33 < 100
oh
Any tips for starting out. I'm trying to learn hoi4 after playing ck2 for a few years but things just feel really complicated and videos are not helping
btw about the guy getting angry at a mountain in Oran: yeah, this envisages that you get 5th battalion slot by 1940 so that you can kick France out of there
Ty but I don't think im that good to do it with 2 army groups
Which is totally possible, but also questionable for normal players
It's less about royal dynasties or politics and more on division micro and the economy is super abstracted in hoi4 to start off
if you have enough manpower/euipment get another army group of infantry
Okey
remeber at this point in time the soviet army is bad stats wise since they have a bunch of negative modifiers
Yea so far from what I have pieced together thats what I was getting. The hard part for me is actually getting started once I'm able to figure that out I could probably learn the same way I did ck.
okay first focus on the production
I like to build inf equipment and field lots infantry divisions. After that focus on fighters and close air support
this games army is very indept compared to any paradox game
the meta armies between mp sp are very different and many different strategies can work
well in any teams MP you can split your army in two
which means you have an army with a specialized offensive doctrine and an army with a specialized defensive doctrine
whereas in SP you hvae to have both offensive and defensive units in the same army
in sp the defensive mp army would work
that said, the templates aren't that different tbh
well the focus order is also similar between SP and MP
well not exactly in sp u just rush everything
So uh, how does one go about invading the UK?
I can usually get the port and one or two surrounding tiles, pushing forward from there is the issue lmao
what are you landing with and how many? Are you reinforcing the beachhead immediately? Are you moving air to cover the landing too?
afaik the limit is 12 right? 2 invasions, 6 divisions per? That's what I've been landing with, and it's 5 mountaineers and 7 infantry
I do in fact reinforce asap with quite a fair amount of units, but it doesn't seem to matter much.
And.. I have in fact been forgetting to move the planes. Are they that make or break for it?
Might just be that you're not aggressive enough after making landfall. You should be trying to break out immediately to secure more ports and start cutting off units. The air is very important as the UK has a big airforce and will CAS you to death otherwise
depending on exactly what the wider war looks like they can be pretty easy to crack with just some mountaineers, inf and a few tank divs
You should try upgrading your amphibious invasion capacity
Ahh, gotcha.
Mm, they just kinda surround me instantly and it becomes impossible to break out, but it may be the air difference then.
..I can do that? Though as a heads up I'm playing basegame
Just in case that's a dlc thing
Can happen if you're only landing on the port and not also the tile next to it. Dover is good because there's two tiles behind it, so the port can be taken quite safely and used to land more troops and cycle units as needed before pushing Portsmouth
it's in the tab where you unlock naval modules
Oh my god I've never known those were there.
Nah, I do remember to take the other tiles! And what do you mean by cycle? :O
cycling is where you manually move units in and out of combat to avoid losing a defensive battle. The lowest org unit(s) are manually retreated one at a time in order to force the reinforcements into battle and allow recovery
so im trying to pull sea lion but cant get naval superiority over the chanel
what should i do
Ahhh, gotcha gotcha. Alright, so I'll get that tech researched, and work on more of an airforce cause I'm not sure all my planes would even touch the UK's airforce lmao
I'll also try cycling, thank you both!!
what does your navy and air force look like?
air force looks good i can get air control but navy is not at all good
then you can either try and bait the royal navy into eating naval bombing from the air force or use paras. Rebuilding the navy if it's already battered might take too long and allow the yanks in
fwiw the kriegsmarine doesn't need to be that big to win if you have the air advantage
as long as there are enough screens left for the capitals, the navs and cas on naval missions can really even the odds
what do you recommend after annexing france to have naval dominace over the chanel?
Well, when france falls I usually go straight into sealion. The buildup from day 1 had this in mind so I would have build a bunch of light cruisers and naval bombers by then
so just produce light cruisers and naval bombers?
"just"
I don't bother with other ships as germany unless I'm doing high castle
the naval bombers are in addition to the normal fighters and cas
so use light cruisers and naval bombers on the chanel?
the entire surface fleet. With as much air power as you can summon. I mention light cruisers as the only ones I built after the start of the game besides convoys
i know fighters, naval bombers, and naval should be in the chanel but should i put cas and heavy?
cas can do naval missions, tacs and strats can't
and as soon as i get that support i should invade southern british ports?
plan the invasion first, gain supremacy, launch against Dover and the tile(s) next to it. Once you land, put the air over England and in their air bases, then try to be aggressive so they don't have time to react properly. You need all of England and Wales to cap them.
thank you. one last question, in production when you produce say onefighter how many fighters is that and where do those fighters show up
1 fighter is 1 fighter. It will go into existing air wings if there are any deployed of that type. Otherwise it goes into stockpile and needs deploying at an air base
If you can rush ussr fast you will have all time play navy sea wit alliance, that is other way choice if you cant win invade england soon
I don't understand, no matter what I do, I just simply cannot push the Soviets, never, I have never been able to defeat them before, even with 1,000 hours in this game, because they have like 400 divisions by the year 1941, and there's nothing that I can do about it, not evne my tanks can push them back, how do you push them back?
Like, how am I even suposse to push against this?
you could start by having manpower in your divisions
or fuel for your air and tanks
I did have manpower.
And I did have fuel.
But then it all just dissapeared.
I spent all of my fuel on gaining like 2 tiles, and all of my manpower went into capturing lithuania... And then the rest of the 400k manpower that was left after that went into the Soviet offensives against my lines.
as germany you should be building a lot of refineries for rubber and fuel to help keep your airforce and tanks running. Those two things are what you attack with. Your inf is best for defendind/line filling
I built a ton of thse.
you're attacking with inf, which is very manpower intensive
I attacked with tanks, and that didn't work, because no amount of tanks can push back 400 divisions on a single tile.
I suspect your templates and designs might suck
I can see from the screenshots that most of those tanks are at partial strength at best. Also that you're not concentrating them
I did concentrate them, and it didn't work, and they're at partial strength because I did the all out assault after no land was being gained.
I had a bunch of tank divisions, full strength, concentrated too, and I gained 2 whole tiles...
Literally 2.
strip 4 motorised out, replace with 1 medium battalion. 40w is too big and motorised isn't as good as mech
this sucks
How should I fix it then?
forget speed above 6kmh. Use the medium howitzer main gun, use two heavy MG turrets, add armor clicks, if you have easy maintenance use that
also MAN is not the best MIO
Is that really a big enough difference to make me actually be able to push stuff out?
I got the DLC for that today, so, I don't know too well what I'm doing with that.
Noted.
it will help the combat stats but if you don't actually make enough of them and have manpower it won't matter
Right..
But how do people beat the Soviet strategy of infantry spam?
Like, do you see how much infantry they have per tile?
There ain't no way that I'm pushing that without destroying every last tank in my army.
doesn't matter, if you have air and tanks doing the work of cutting divs off rather than just pushing them back, you'll have fewer to deal with
you want tanks to attack from two concentrated points and drive behind the enemy to cut off and destroy divisions
you know, like WWII
Yeah, that's what I attempted to do.
I'll try out the tank changes and the MIO change, and see if that helps.
yeah but you attempted this with half-full divisions and no fuel
Firt use gurdian become marshall second you need 24 tank to blitzkrieg ussr
no, you don't
Yes
No, that was after the all out assault.
you can do barb with like 8 tank divs if you use them properly
They were full strength with fuel when I was doing the initial attack.
He is new
so?
There's a point where you're no longer new, and you just suck at the game.
Damn how you play 1k h and cant win ussr
Because I don't know how to push 11 infantry, 2 tank, and 5 calvarly divisions off of a tile.
btw, which doctrines and advisors are you running?
Erm, let me go get those screenshots.
i forgor
you don't actually have to push all of them off, only have to de-org the ones in the combat. Reinforcement and combat width exists
I know that, but.
I can't reinforce meme, I don't know how to do that, and it seems like a cheesy strat anyways.
Or maybe it's not, I don't know.
it happens on it's own if your stats are high enough. High attack, breakthrough and coordination will mean the enemy divs get targetted more effectively and lose org faster than the reinforcements can enter the battle
Oooooh.
That makes sense.
Halder would give 10% attack but Beck isn't bad
Huh.
No clue who you're talking about.
Ah, right.
Yeah, probably a better idea, but, I hired that guy in like 1937, 1938, something like that, when I don't think that I had Hadler available to me at the time.
Yeah Halder comes from the army focuses
Makes sense.
how do the logistics look just behind the front? Did you upgrade the rails at all?
I just set everything to use the 3 trucks thing.
I wasn't taking any supply debuffs at the time of the invasion.
that increases the range, not the capacity
So I didn't feel the need to.
Noted.
Thanks for the help by the way.
np
Wrong channel
Is there any discord mods awake <@&846894118219022336>
How do I change this?
Check pins
What should I add?
Remove the trucks
remove maintanance company
add more mountaineers till its 32 width
25 width maybe cause your turkey
add anti air, flame tanks, support art, engineers
rangers too
rangers are best replaced with light tank recon
just delete the whole thing & make it camels 👍🏽
Fr💔🥀
Dude Idk what to do 🥀💔😭
hell yeah 👍🏽
yeah reddits stupid
This is pretty good, you can replace flame tank with artillery
and light armored recon with recon rangers
and all the marines can be replaced with mountaineers
Based
bannable offense
🤣🤣🤣🤣
The duality of man
“good for late game” 0 support equipment attached
you don’t need anti tank
Damn
and dont add any line anti air
You wont be needing that in singleplayer
and its a mountaineer
You dont need the logistics company
This is where new hoi4 players are getting the meta divs fr
🥀🥀🥀
Moterized recon spotted 💔
So this is a good one?
top 10 worst things in hoi4
no
God no
please don’t
What should I do with the trucks made?
Dont use templates from anywhere but this server
And specifically use the templates in pins
Moterize supply
motorized supply
I wish I was in game to show how
But if you click on your unit
there should be a little horse icon in the corner
click it twice
Ye I know that part
Thats not even a space marine
🤣🤣🤣
amtracs are just mech
Stat for stat pretty much
amtracs are mech
what is hoi4 tiktok on about
A space marine is a infantry/special forces unit with a single high armor tank
lmaoooo
Or if you can armored light recon can work for the armor aswell
This is true
i will use my space marines til the day i die
Multiple tanks still count

I dont really know shit about space marines
Because I dont use them
@cursive fiber you will have to micro the war with turkey i imaigne
You don't need to be researching support weapons for the most part, researching infantry equipment will increase your defense and breakthrough faster
@cursive fiber it gets canceled at 28 days if you are fascist and invite italy
honestly i'd just continue building mils
you have a glut of civs
Yeah pick the offense guy
@cursive fiber no not really, but you should try to win in turkey first before dealing with romania
Okay @spelen8 you need to learn how to pin enemy units
if units are in a battle, their movement is slowed, so if you're trying to encircle and they're about to retreat it's worth it to click them
also gallipoli should be easy to take
or don't and you set up a port trap
If you're in a war, don't always set your game to 5-speed because things like that can happen without you noticing
pause and play or playing on a lower speed will do wonders to your ability against the ai
@cursive fiber if turkey fails to manage its Kurdish resistance properly, then they revolt
and that's probably what happened here
A low probability event but still an event
Yeah 6% hardness for 9/1 SPG like that matters
