since the calculation stats round up every ship's stat, it's better to have small taskforces dedicated to spotting instead as, otherwise, higher stats will be drowned in awful detection stats, low speed and high visibility
in singleplayer, a single destroyer patrolling on never engage order is usually enough, though you can create dedicated cruisers for it

Multiplayer, AIUI, some kind of heavy TD. Singleplayer: medium SPGs optimized for soft attack + breakthrough.
I tend to go for: 3-crew turret, howitzer, best radio, armor skirts, 1-2x HMG, 0-1 easy maintenance*, bolted armor, +4 armor pips, and whatever combo of suspension/engine/engine pips gets me to 6-6.5 kph for the lowest cost/best reliability.
Note: unless you have six research slots, easy maintenance probably isn't worth the research.
This is probably a dumb question but am I missing something when it comes to factory building? I build civs usually until mid-37 and then start building mils, but it always feels like I'm low on factories compared to the AI and when I look at streamers. Is there something obvious I am not doing?

Air mission efficiency. If your air wings have poor coverage over their target air zone, mission efficiency drops. When mission efficiency drops, your aircrafts' effective stats suffer; AIUI, if you have 25% mission efficiency, you're only able to use 25% of your aircraft.

if you enter war in 1939 then you should start building mils from day 1. Factory counts are only half of the picture, the other half is production efficiency which is why you need to let the mils run for a while for them to produce more things. Streamers don't show you that thing because one big number is easier to show

the difference between rocket rails and MRBMs is the difference between the HVAR and a PGM-19 Jupiter

I dont know if it affects the navy as well, but the best is the sheep ai mode. If you increase the power of other countries from the settings it becomes really impressive.
I was told the reason British doesn’t use it main fleet or strike force which was issue that navry came sucked also was because it doesn’t produce new destroyers so it doesn’t do patrol for strike force which was annoying I wanted to have competitive navry battles so it would be harder to naval invade or get across 😅
But I haven’t tried any mod yet but sounds like they are very very good and fixes a lot of stuff

Im not sure if they nerfed it in any of the recent updates, but when NCNS released SPG divisions with the subdoctrine were pretty insane, literally the same as medium tanks just with 20% more soft attack

your units are underequipped/undermanned, have no supplies whatsoever (= no stats = no pushing) and attacking difficult terrain (even less stat) probably without air support

- garrison template (you either do 1 cavarly unit or full cav template with military police as support company)
The rest you can learn from just playinh
