detection affects how many enemy planes you can attack, and mission efficiency affects your stats in combat

no heavy fighters are only better if you're usa and know how to rush to jet tech

and the thing is once you have supersonic jets they become better than heavies again

your radar tech is also important because it allows you to build radar stations which increase your detection stats

and your planes need to have full coverage of the air region to be able to have 100 base efficiency so their stats are not discounted

everyone does get a malus in night and bad weather

but you can further buff it through subdoctrines and the button on the airfield which spends 20 cp to make ground crew work overtime

so in regular gameplay if you design your planes like me as ussr germany's air would be destroyed in two months but in +4 germany and italy they have massive industry and barely any fuel needs so they can pump out 10k planes when you're only building like 2k with 20 factories
