at game launch base planning was high, so it was like not the worst thing ever? but still the worst overall

then in death or dishonour (2018) they massively nerfed max planning and made mw less viable/worse

THEN in no step back they made it so you need xp for doctrines

and since youre able to get later nodes earlier, mw got nerfed again

and now with NCNS you are easily able to swap to other doctrines, with the only benefit of mw being that maybe you retain some more mastery as germany, as thats the only nation which starts on mw

which again, is a nerf to the doctrine

1: you can just, go to war earlier

2: most organized mp games have ww2 start earlier in vanilla, and most use mp mods

and also 3: the buildup is just an important phase to learn, theres plenty to do especially volunteers, collabs etc, it isnt just making factories and doing tech

if you want the game to run faster for historical gameplay you should use multiplayer/optimization mods imo

3 - attack from multiple angles

light cruiser is good even though the catapult is kinda wasted and armor should be upgraded, sonar is to be removed and AA can be downgraded to save cost

Heavy cruisers though are abysmal dogshit no matter their design. you can't even pierce lvl 1 battleship armor so you deal reduced damage and have so low HP and armor that you die too fast to enemy heavy atk
not even counting the fact that it cost way too much for little stats

for light cruisers, you can make a design with only catapults, sonar, cheapest armament, most speed as possible, no armor
this kind of ship you send out patrolling alone with order to never engage. these guys, called spotter, is made to detect enemy ships so strike force ships can engage safely, in which case surface detection isn't needed
