Avoid encirclement, that'll destroy your divisions.
Delete the ones you have and just assign the divisions in each side to a single front lines

So if Honolulu is a level 10 port the rest of the islands have to be at least level 8 (since +2 port modifier)
They could classify Hawaii like the Solomons, large islands which have level 8 ports

- convert most of your divs to the small one(12 width + edit to add support artillery), keep 12 of the large hohei shidan(you can add a few marine and recon light tank but it doesn't matter much). in addition it helps to train 50 divisions of 2 width, converted to a copy of the 12 width template with guns disabled to hold the front
- assuming that you don't do the mengjiang focus, take manchu divs and put them on the front, with the empty divs. extend this frontline whenever there's a region you don't want to push in(e.g. shanxi)
- build 2 air base in hebei. make sure to fly air over northern china at war.
- pick spy advisor with your first 200 pp(after tanaka as army offense advisor), 5 agency upgrades and do repeat collab mission on china
- do the hebei garrison focus in time to declare on china
- at war declaration push beijing with all your divisions, make sure to micro so when the warlord capitulates you encircle the chinese divs in the north, you can kill like 30 divs this way
- build a railway from tongzhou to kalgan once you take it
- keep pushing north and focus on making encirclements, and start planning naval invasion to shandong with 2 width.(two orders)
- when china annex the northern warlords, start pulling back divisions back to behind beijing(let them walk into peking but you can keep tianjin)
- let china walk into peking, click total mobilization, then start pushing and naval invading, should be very easy from this point on if you have made encirclements before
- make sure to not capture nanjing before starting the third collab mission, you only need until like wuhan to capitulate china at 3 collabs. make sure to not push too far and capitulate them before third collab
- once you do the flip fascist focus, justify and declare on sinkiang before you capitulate CUF
also how you do peacedeal(without the funny method):
- take a save just in case
- clicking each state on the map one-by-one to take all the warlord territory(anything other than main china) in one round
- take main china in the second round

Depends what you're looking for I guess. I like the idea of defeating a much large force, high k/ds, etc. Beating the allies navy with a communist faction or holding back the Axis with the likes of Romania for example.

Hi, I’m on Linux Mint (Ubuntu 22.04 base) and after the latest HOI4 update the game only launches in vanilla, even when mods are enabled in the Paradox launcher.
I used ChatGPT to help write this because my English isn’t very good, sorry.
What happens:
- Mods are enabled in the launcher
- I click Play → the game always launches in vanilla
- No errors shown
My setup:
- Running the native Linux version (not Proton)
- dlc_load.json is located here:
~/.local/share/Paradox Interactive/Hearts of Iron IV/dlc_load.json
What I’ve tried:
- verifying game files through Steam
- deleting dlc_load.json so it regenerates
- checking permissions
- enabling/disabling mods again
Question:
Is this a known issue after the update? Are there any Linux-specific workarounds?
