Do you know some coal rich areas on the map?
I need to go killing again

USA
in the USSR Stalino specifically
The what?
What are good subdoctrines for special forces.
Large infantry tactics, elevate the Individual?
Never been much of a carrier guy, but the new submarine carriers have snagged my interest, from prior knowledge i know that planes used in naval battles default to their primary weapons and roles while normal parked air support works like land based airports. My main question is two fold.
1: does a naval bomber with small caliber machineguns do anything different than a naval bomber with no guns in its weapons slots
2: how useful are carrier cas in naval battles.
- No 2. Use navs instead
Guys is it just my game or what but in Vannila and RT56 japanese leader was missing or no commander
@glacial steeple it's all timed perfectly
ok my conclusion is that it's unplayable in mp
you can get it if you micro every div and just pause and play on 2 speed
you see shanghai in the map
do the same to like wuhan and everything else
skip the city
nah its playable imo
but the invasion plan sucks cuz little control
over supply/where to go
not playable on any speed above 4
or ok like if everything is timed perfectly maybe
so when you land you would be finishing up second collab
and not waiting for collab civs
but it's all so cancer
why does paradox make this
should be a simple war with clicking battleplan button
yeah
you have to micro and not take any vp
idk i think i play china war more solidly
to cancel the focus
and when you cap hebei
have you played hmm china war
china annexes them
its not vanilla so ofc its less cancer
vanilla china war was always cancer
mp mods neuter china
ok sure
old china war was cancer
but that's just wuhan supply desert
that's all
cancerous part is inherited into the new version
and it multiplies
the issue is that warlord mils are better
and you couldnt do eco focuses pre war
cuz youd be locked from total mob
its so similar now
yes
if with warlords
without warlords in mp mods its like way less cancer
and rn its not that diff
well yeah that removes lot of divs and they cope mod
no
but old china you literally just battleplan from the north
even with all divs
after like one encirclement
kmt is just worse
or you can not do any encirclement and still be fine
you can push whenever you want
now you can;t
that's the issue
you still can imo
you need to push and specifically ohh i can't take this vp and cancel my focus
whats a better tank doctrine for MBT america, Armored infantry support, or armored spearhead
did you skip turn in conference?
yes ofc i know how that works
i just wanna be sure
i have the save
Gotcha, ill keep that info in mind, trying to make multi role carrier planes for the submarine carrier since it has such harsh deck space limits.
Sounds like the best bet would be a fighter with rocket or bomb locks and a naval bomber with bombs as a secondary so they can support naval invasions
hmm
ill do some testing later
mp mods will have free div editing which also makes war easier
cuz you can use good units
i think the shandong border naval invasion isnt a terrible idea
in fact probably the better spot
but id have to test and rn im gonna zzz
because of shandong army being so small when you invade there will be no unit there
ai behaviour is to prioritize own territory over allies/puppets
meaning you can always attack the port from the side (not taking the state, but you can freely move into the state as control is dominated by vp)
and youll have the land supply route
it doesn't matter
you have a fixed amount of equipment
yeah
the advantage of annexed china is that you don't need to worry about total
its plenty
you can use 2 tank divs / line arty on hohei to reduce losses like 75% (from combat)
youll have a 80 tank stockpile after which you can just delete them
your losses are high because the small 12ws suck
but you need a lot of them for front
imo
ok
thats been a thing before the update too
this is the most confusing thing ever
wdym?
I have zero compliance on peking
and jinan
but 100% on all other states
from pushing north
odd ig
also zero in chahar
no
total mob is the issue
like you know the port south of shandong i think you could land there
i think thatd be most effective
with planning from dailan
they orgwall
you just need to crit imo
their units collapse when faced with damage
i could try a testgame rn ig
if u want me to
Last question, can cruiser subs with a deck gun provide shore bombardment
don't wanna micro against ai
no
Ok, that sucks, so like is the deck gun any good or should I stick with range and torps
just do torps
hmm time to play china instead
I hate paradox so much
they force me to exploit against ai
its shit lmao
ok new funny exploit
land in donghai
snake to the north of nanjing but don't cut it off
then china supply go through ocean
convoy raid
that works too yes
lol yeah
and make empty inf
actually might be the most important exploit
you can hold any tile with 100 gun
so the real divs can be on important stuff
prob not needed? could be useful tho
if youre insecure about guns can you make it down to 15K guns to korea?
also no korea puppet means more civs
for collabs
but idk if thats good or bad still
korea is mixed bag
where its mostly rlly good
but also ehh
Release korea after first collab cos u always lack civ for the other 2?
essential
and microing
you are so limited on guns
see how it goes
how do i assign a fleet to a different naval hq?
are rangers or mountaineers better for pushing in general?
i have an hq in guam
i love you
china is so bad early game
but late game they become ooga booga because so many efficap
and factories
yall know why my rockets aint launching?
it says they have no mission even thought i assigned them
no mods, my skyzones are grey and wont show me air superiority
anything i can do to fix that?
what do the dlc do and are they worth it, cause like 200 EUR worth of dlc are kind of daunting
You can take the subscription to try all the dlc for 1 month
They add a lot of stuff primiarly focuses and mechanics.
What should i do with spy ? I find i always "under" use them.
Depends on what you are pushing but generally mountaineers and rangers are equally good you can mix them in divs.
Same issue. Help please
Paratroopers 👍
Only problem though
Any decent mp uk player will probably have double maybe triple the fighters Germany has before then
So you'd have to go heavy on CAS
how do i make my nukes launch using MRBMs/ICBMs? when i click the nuke raid i just get the choice between the two nuke bombs and which planes i use
have you researched ICBM's and produced them?
it's easy really, even me as a beginner were able to pull it off using just planes
you have to make them w mil factorys
ngl, as germany all you gotta do, is have nav bombers, and nav tech
like the shell upgrades, and the 50 nav experience upgrades
i produced like 50 of MRBMs, do i need 100 of them?
i just use cas lol i don't waste my mil on nav bombers
i don't think it's worth it as germany
eh, 100-200 nav bombers basically garantuees naval superiority
pretty cheap, just have maybe 5 mils on them,
mediums
that's how op they are?
can i see your early game design?
but base german fleet and 200 nav bombers can give naval superiority
i'll try it
I’ve never really played Japan before. What’s the move to take China? Eco seems horrible for tanks so infantry seems much better. What width for infantry?
i have a medium nav bombers, 2 torpedo's, some medium bomb locks and a recon camera
against U.K? somehow i doubt that
it works, ive done it
They’re not lying.
It’s very possible.
You gotta sacrifice some fighter production to do it.
But it’s possible.
in my 5 first campaigns i struggled getting superiority against U.K even though i have like thousands of CAS and my entire navy in english zone
and then floating boat, some turrets for defence, fuel and thats really all you need
ohh
its cuz your using cas
Naval bombers have way better modifiers
torpedo navs are way better for navy
that would've saved me a lot of stress if i've known that earlier lol
For ships
yeah
yeah, cas for navy does work abit, but its like using fighter/cas combo's
sure, they can cas and fight, but they wont be good at either
I usually get air sup then start convoy raiding with subs in channel then put naval bombers.
You start to sink ships like crazy. Then you can put navy up
w the new naval system you have to have ships on recon
just started playin RoN, any tips?
rise of nations on roblox?
yea
i mean, i can help, got about 600 hours or so on it, but that would probally have to be through dm's
considering well, this is a hoi4 server </3
Japan China war still feels so bad to play
- mb
idk how navy works so what if you just spam subs and assign them with convoy raiding mission, do they also engage the navy or just convoys?
they engage navy
but only if the navy engages first
They engage navy but I don’t know if anything significant changed with new navy update
lets say you got subs on convoy raiding, your attacking some convoys and the enemy navy goes to help the convoy your raiding
isn't that a low chance of happening? since they're subs
i actually want the opposite
i doubt they have spotters
not really
Depends how “visible” your subs are
oh yeah they changed a lot in the new dlc
Yeah low visibility subs were op as hell
cruiser subs, anercho tiles and just slapping torps on that
it was mad
trained and they were unstoppable
Anyone play Japan at all
i wanna, after i get the dlc
but i gotta wait for christmas lol
i love playing the UK (may be bais)
Ah. Trying to figure out the meta for it I guess. I really only play Germany and Soviets so I have no idea how best to play it
ive always loved playing islane nations
island*
so im excited to play japan cuz i kinda see it as like, ww2's evil uk
strong eco'd island nation with stronger neighbors close buy and a good navy
atleast, ment to be stronger neighbors
debatable ofc </3
That meta died and burn real bad
Wouldn't say a strong economy
At best average
Too heavily reliant on conquest for natural resources
Plus wooden cities aren't the best for resisting fire bombs
compared to most of asia at the time, japan had a really strong eco
having industrialised rapidly to compete with the europeans and americans, reverse engineering our tech
and making their own
Their army was in way over it's head as well
This idea that Japan were "destined for victory"
well yeah, but that was due to the culture at the time
japan had many, many issue
issues*
Talk the big game but when it comes to actually fighting guerilla warfare
They struggle
their branches of the military competed instead of working together
;-;
fighting geurilla warfare shouldnt be the way to determine army strength
It's the best way to fight a stronger enemy
the soviets had a strong army, failed to geurilla warfare, same with the brits, same with the americans
but its not a way to determine if an army is strong
Indeed
The soviet army was NOT strong at all to argue against that statement
They lost about a million casualties in the first few months of the war
afghan war?
No Operation Barbarossa
yk, when the soviets were strong and fought geurilla warfare
Well the north of Afghanistan is heavily fortified by mountainous terrain
Not really the best for tanks to engage in
plus, in all fairness the soviet army was also strong in operation barbarossa, but its leadership was horrible
Not necessarily
stalin 100% thought the germans wouldnt attack
even after warnings from the allies, and his generals near the front
Most of the units after the intial first few months were just armed civilians
No training
Just run at the enemy and try not to die
he even refused to send in reinforcements after the invasion occured, because he didnt believe the germans would actually invade him
It was all evident
Hitler even stated in his Mein Kampf that slavs were an enemy due to their mixed blood
he didnt believe it, stalin didnt think the germans would betray him, and if he did he didnt think it was so early
yeah, but stalin wasnt really a good leader, was he
Not necessarily
he wasnt the brightest
i swear if u try defend stalin ima end this convo right here
Purged his leaders and literally anyone who spoke against him
</3
I don't defend anyone in history
I just use the facts and make a judgement on what's in front of me
stalin was objectively a bad leader, to the point they had to de-stalinise after he died
he send in millions of troops to die in mines, so his tanks could roll through
he caused the ukraine famine
there is no defending stalin mate </3
Objectively yes but there is no denial that with his combined effort at being a popular figurehead did the soviet people fight on and achieve victory
He called for all soviet civilians to fight
They did
He certainly was a main political sellout for popular opinion it seems
i mean, it wasnt really a hard decision
either you fight now, or legit be exterminated
brother, stop tryna put stalin in a more positive light M/3
I would be quite sceptical to fight a war against a fairly strong army with a severly large number of tanks
just cuz he rallied the soviet ppl, against an army that openly wanted to exterminate him, doesnt make him a even half decent leader
I never said that
All I said was that he was a very big popular figurehead
In which he was
His propaganda certainly called people up to arms
I mean in 1944 there was about 6m soldiers
"not neccesarily" to me saying he was a bad leader, implies to some extent, he was a good leader, or did well to some extent
again, yes germany was a very strong force, but even then id fight if it ment either fighting a tank for a chance to win, or being slaughtered without a fight for germanys "living space"
He was politically a very horrible leader due to the attrocities he persecuted against his own people
However like I'm saying there was in no denial him being a leader was a significant factor in the calling up for civilians or anyone to resist
He stayed in Moscow and refused to leave
He certainly must have had even the smallest sympathy towards his people
If not he would have fled to Vladivostov as soon as the Germans invaded
he wanted to stay in power, that was his goal in the end. so he showed an iron front
Any leader would do that though my friend
if that ment killing all his political rivals, he did
if that ment throwing millions of people to a meat grinder, he eid
he did*
The killing side of it though I admit was pure evil
most of his policies caused horrible famines and environmental disaster my boy
help
His only leading factor what I'm saying is that just like Hitler the only power he had came from his popularity from his people even though both purposefully persecuted them
Most of his generals wanted him dead
They said that though their head was on the chopping block
That line is extremely weak you should be able to push
the thing is, stalin was only popular because he persecuted all his rivals and had a mad propoganda machine, most public support came from either his industrialisation, or the fear of persecution
That is a fair point indeed
kim in north korea is popular among his people, that isnt a good thing
cuz hes only popular, because he runs a mad propoganda machine
same w stalin
I don't disagree with you in this
All I'm trying to say is that Stalin as an image for propaganda was every effective in the callup for arms and production
There's no denial in that I would think
Then eventually he meets his end
Funnily enough
When he was dead the doctors didn't dare treat him in case of persecution
Ironic
however when i say "stalin is a bad leader" your point gets incredibly blurred when you say "well, mm not neccesarily"
The same paranoia he tried to clear came back in another form against him
To answer your question though
maybe you didnt want to come across that way, but accidentally or not, it implys your defending stalin, atleast at the start
Yes Stalin as leader was absolutely terrible socially as a leading factor to the exploitation of Ukrainian farmers and the deaths of millions I agree he was pure evil in that sense
Economically however
There's no denial that despite the thousands of lives that were lost due to poor conditions and lack of pay this output was able to defeat most opposing powers against the Soviet Union
In short
He was evil
His policies for the economy kinda worked
At the expense of thousands of lives however
well in all fairness, its quite hard to not reach rapid success with the slate stalin had been given
huge resources and land, a huge population ready to work, a ideology centered around the worker and production, it was the goal of the revolution to industrialise, shake off the chains of the tsar and improve the life of the worker
because the tsarist russia was a medieval country within the industrial age
btw, if we wanna debate about this, it really shouldnt be here
i feel like the admins are itching to tell us off </3
i already saw one of em typing
No denial at all
i feel like this may go down to semantics and personal opinion of what a good leader is, in all fairness
As figurehead however and his economic policies did see some success at the expense of again the lives that were lost
Anyways though nice chat
ye, i just dont think we should continue this here lol, ive already seen one admin typing ready to tell us off </3
Well I hope was able to widen your knowledge on Stalin
i mean, i studied the soviet union and its leadership, im a communist
stalin did do some good, i must admit
he improved education and literacy, he rapidly industralised
I don't have a problem with anyones opinions unless they are neo nazis or extremists
however, to be a good leader atleast i believe your first and main worry should be the wellbeing of the people
Indeed you are right there
even if his economic policies work, i dont believe it was worth it
Again I agree
atleast not to the extreme he did it
gotta select your ships and put em in that port
their currently stationed in a port far off, so even if the port there is available, you gotta put them there
ctrl+right click to set the port as your home port (u need to select ships while doing it)
if that doesnt work
just get a lvl 8 naval port and then build a naval supply hub
it worked but I just dont have supply now there
btw if u captured/occupied a naval supply hub that your ENEMY made originally then you have to wait some time before you can actually "use" that naval supply hub and therefore get the extra range that its supposed to give
u kinda dont need to worry about that
unless you're talking about the army
both navy and army
its fine Taiwan has a level 10 port in range
but still a little annoying
How do I get coal??
Im in a deficit of -14000 help
go down to civ eco
For the Japanese option to take Siberia from Soviets, does it take Tannu Tuva as well?
And is it possible to gift Mengukuo the rest of Mongolia?
start with what?
Main Menu.
New Game.
Pick a nation.
Start.
uhh
howo do you have such a deficit do you control the world or smth
Consider researching excavation tech and upgrading infrastructure in coal areas.
Maybe decision were added too that allows getting more coal.
How many factories/dockyards can a single coal fuel?
Like around 10?
there's prospecting for coal decisions just like with any other resource
please help
It is warning you that you're below 25%, I believe.
i get this too, try hovering over the actual fuel stockpile
how to do it
it shouldn't tell you you are suffering from any debuff
hover over the fuel icon next to logistics fullfillment
yea
Just get above 25% fuel and the warning should disappear.
i have not encountered any bugs so far
well when i tried to use some mods which support 1.17 it just crashed or didnt even loaded the map
i thought about reverting to 1.16 but i decided to use 1.17 anyway
Then they aren't fully supported yet.
Give 'em modders some time.
well okay
Big update, big trouble.
i declared war on both India and Australia as non aligned UK but still have not gotten the "The Empire Strikes Back" achievement, i'm playing on ironman starting in 1936, i don't understand what i am doing wrong
Check the ingame achievement tab.
It usually offers more information.
Can you show me the trophy in the top right corner to confirm, that you're allowed to get achievements?
@noble summit
guys what doctarine millestones(or i think it how it called) should i take? i dont rly get any of this
Do the uh large infantry tactics
For infantry
Guys, how do you establish a fascist dictatorship? I'm playing as Colombia, I've already made the fascist party the ruling party and the most popular, but it's not a dictatorship yet. How do you proclaim a dictatorship?
Not sure for tanks
And another thing, is it possible to change the country's name?
What exactly for you need to be a dictatorship?
Because you being fascist would usually imply that you're in one.
Why it's cool and it's one of my gaming goals 🔥
Then congratulations.
It's a dictatorship.
But the Democratic and Communist parties still have representation in Congress.
Okay, is it possible to change the country's name?
Usually names are bound to ideology, no.
There are formables.
When you control specific states, you core them all.
New color, new name.
One last question to stop bothering you (I'm a complete beginner, I started yesterday haha), how do I create cores and what is the importance of exporting, along with how to extract resources?
Cores mean that you have full control of the population of the state.
When you occupy them, they aren't your cores.
You can get them cored by focusses (if the nation has a bigger focus tree allowing to core them) or by formabled.
In the decision tab there should be an option to form Gran Columbia.
When you control all of those states and clich the decision, they get cored magically instantly.
Getting resources is more tricky.
If you don't start with many, you're most of the time forced to import them from other nations.
There are extracting decisions, but tmk Columbia cannot get Iron.
So import them.
If you export something actively, for example Germany imports your oil, you get one civilian factory per 8 oil.
How can I fix this encirclement? they appear to have a load of forts and mad entrenchment
Only the Czechs and Slovaks should have some forts.
Try pushing from every other side.
Upgrade railroads. And turn down game speed.
Don't battleplan in, micro a little.
This looks empty.
Idk what is happening anymore
I see green though, I found they only have a U shape of forts
There was about 1.5m soldiers in that bubble
Hi guys, so I'm playing Estonia (i conquered the baltics and got united with finland), i joined the balkan entente with italy romania and some other guys, defeated the soviets with the help of germans who have their own faction and we conquered basically everything there was to conquer in Europe. Except the uk and the thing is, is there a way to somehow invade them even tho they have hundreds of ships and planes?
invasion is only possible with green air or sea
so in a way you will have to level out the numbers, but sometimes there are little time windows where you can start an invasion, although you do not have air or sea superiority
this windows appear, if a bigger part of the fleet stays in the harbours for repair
is this still good or has the Meta changed?
Logistics for big fuel intensive divisions are recommended.
but tank divisions are still good yeah?
max soft attack (against AI)
I don't do MP too many tryhards lol
i just want casual hoi
im a filthy casual
😛
You have very low armor.
Hardness is great. But armor somewhat low.
If a basic infantry with support AA can pen you, it's meh.
Otherwise nice. Good damage. Some speed. Yeah.
Why is the positive so high?
Is there any way I can get them to leave their current faction
Democratic nations have a tendency to kick people when they created too much tension.
Every other ideology not really.
should you try to turn fascist ASAP or build the economy first?
if anyone wants to play dm me i am alone
is there a good strat to beating china
i was like -50k guns in debt
i could only take like half of china
How do i conqer germany as sweden?
how many divs should you have to invade china
Create a Meat grinder and run through their army and manpower and then counterattack, spearhead berlin. get in before the USSR
Is this normal?
should i bother getting a collab on china
are medium tds good for mp
New player here, playing as Germany (historical). I'm in Barbarossa, Russia is at 50 %, but i'm starting to be less and less effective. And i've seen this. Is there any chance i could find a way to continue ?
send a pic of the map
u might be over stretched
you need more factories on guns
also the soviets have a few focuses they can only do when they are at war with a major which make them strong
20 is too little
i was wondering if somebody would help me learn hoi4 i just got the game and i have played a bit but i was wondering if somebody would help me learn the game in a vc and ill screen shere
you are over streached
I'm sadly discovering it now ^^
ask for lend lease
i've asked, but they give me too little pieces.
how much are you in deficite
As Japan?
yes
Make some shitty 12w infantry to hold the lines
except for light tank, i'm down on everything 😕
Then use marines or normal infantry divisions to just push
What i've done wrong ?
How 😭
Do u have like 3000 divisions
Not at all. And playing on "recruit"... Is it a desperate situation, or could i try something ?
Hi could someone please play with me game and tech me smth
(best if he/she speks polish)
If not english
Show your template
Is this a good basic carrier design
The 8 line armies are like this
that is the problem.
too big ?
Yes, you don't need infantry divs that big. Infantry suck at attacking
Yes
Is Fascist Hirohito (semi-historical) path stronger or is Kodoha Hirohito stronger in terms of modifier stacking for divisions?
Tank...this is okay.
I went like this because in my first games my lighter infantry was pushed by France in the Siegfried line 😕
Then it it not enemy infantry, it probably enemy air+tank
At least this time i was green on air quite everywhere. I may have waited more before Barbarosa, to use french factory to push my production.
This time? Then you definitely got pushed back by enemy air back then.
Now stop your entire army, let them recover wait for productions to catch up.
That's what i've done. And you think i could recover from this ?
Which year is this run?
Is kodoha or purge kodoha Japan stronger?
16/01/1941
LOL, too soon, no wonder you lack so many gun.
ok, that's the point then. One year of factory building would have been better.
What year do u start ww2
Poland was 39 i think. I went for Russia just after France
With smaller infantry, you could have bigger CAS for these attack.
hey if im going commie navy should i get dwight for army exp (wanna swap some doctrines) instead of london naval conferrence
do you have a print screen button
Yes, the ultimate strategy name Encircling your enemy.
Wdym
CAS ?
on your keyboard
Close air support, plane that bomb enemy
Is the "No Compromise, No Surrender" DLC or Expansion Pass 2 included in the Hoi4 monthly subscription on Steam?
Ncns is in subscription
i have 1100 on the air now. Not enough ?
What type of planes?
Mainly Ju87, but producing the next. Though no mofification on these, all were for fighters.
Show your air plane, although that number definitely not enough on that large front.
I dont know the language, but buffing range should be a good choice
Maybe attack as well
You know, throwing men isn' your ways of solving problems if you don't have gun for them.
I have guns for them
why cant i push
Is the SHBB any good
Of course you don't, you need something big and strong to break through these guys
Also how can I convince the AI to form some kind of ultra coalition against me
like what
@lucid torrent
Something in the communist tree
U need to form the communist Asian Union
Do the Buddhist socialism focus
Show me your template.
And it should unlock a secret focus tree
Wait let me oad up the game
oh shit ok ty
Anything that have more than 30 width. Special forces or tank will work better.
These guys can't push, defensive divs they are
This division did well in my game when I had doctrines boosting everything. Just more support companies needed along with doctrines
How do i make a better template
They can push extremely well with doctrines
And air superiority
How about your air and doctrine?
Support AA, medium flame tanks, field hospitals. Assault infantry doctrine and the artillery one
Rolled over the German AI with a battleplan and with tanks as well.
Yep, that is the problem
Ok what doctrines should i get
Assault infantry did wonders in my game
Training and combat
Ok but how do i go into doctrines menu
i only opened it from the alerts
Throw your men at meat grinder
Large infantry tactics are crazy
how do i even use convoys?
20% soft attack to all kinds of infantry
Officer corps button
im an island nation and i want to do epic naval invasion against japan
Do you see a military hat icon? On the top bar?
Yes
Dang
All these doctrines are op af
Also anything i should add to my template to make it better?
If everything is busted, nothing is
And you are?
Also I have never gotten past the first node on my armor doctrine
Which is the best armored doctrine
Something are more OP than other
Is this a good amount of troops to produce or is it too much
The spg thingy for sp
I did the one that looked like inf support
Just produce alot and throw it at the enemy they cant take on a million men
And the TD one for mp
Dang
Okay, tanks are dead, long live armored variants
For communist, it never enough.
Buffed it to 33 and i can still supply them
philippines
They will always have a place in my heart
Since tanks are just cool af
i dont understand economy well but i think im doing it right to be able to supply my troops
Get your doctrine up, if not it is hard to push
I am
I was happy with my Shermans in my game, but I felt the lack of org
But be real nobody can take on a million men
may cost little casualties but thats okay they died for a good cause
Hey folks, first attempt at this game. Playing the tutorial, want to invade Spain for Granada.
Got wargoal justfied, they are in civil war.
Setup:
5 mounteneers, 5 infantry on sardinia set to naval invasion in almeria
all ships combined into 1 fleet, set to support naval invasion in western mediterranian
all aircraft in sardinia set to naval patrol, naval strike and cas
Expectation:
my ships do something to achieve naval superiority and my invasion armies set sail
reality:
nothing happens, ships stay in port, army doesn't budge
What am I doing wrong?
Oh? Have you heard about WWI, the time when everyone think like you?
Yep but this time it will work
You need some ships to patrol
Naval mechanics changed
Another question
how do i naval invade
i actually dont know how
me to brother
Says "Need naval dominance" and no matter what i do patrol or whatever i cant get it
but i think we have to use convoys?
Should i seperate my tanks and infrantry in diffrent armies?
Would it make sense to just split into two fleets or what is better for invasion support and what for patrol?
Tanks should be their own army
With their own field marshal or just general
Of course you don't, your navy is...trash
Grab some destroyers and maybe a light cruiser or two for patrolling
Is this you revolting against the goverment
Both if you want
then how do i transfer my troops domestically by sea? 🤔
Convoys are used in the background
Ok i will or else itll be too comåplicated t5o remmeber
Move troops to a port, ctrl right click the port you want them to go to
lets see
Hmm? Just assign them manually
How many convoys do you have
nah it wont work this little island is red
how do icheck?
Look up
Which one?
palawan its red which stops me from manually placing troops
194
It have to have a port
2,000 stockpiled
You can only deploy troops on core land that is connected directly to your capital
it does
So no training on random islands
alr
so about the naval invasion?
all i gotta do is build many big big ships to destroy the ijn?
then naval invade?
Thank you
Patrolling gives naval dominance. Strike force is a multiplier
Yes, it will took about 20 year
youtube made it looked much easier
aw
YouTube is out of date
so i should also patrol?
New update, new mechanics
alr luckily for me its still 1938
Or you use ultimate no brain super efficient strategy, which is... spamming subs
gotta wait untill 1941
mm submarin
Is there somewhere in the game where i can find some stats, like in EU. For exemple how many plane a country have lost, etc ?
what exactly do support ships do?
Buff your fleet
How do i improve navy
in what way though?
You don't, instead you build naval bomber to sunk enemy fleet.
Naval bomber
how i build
i already did it wont work
It give buff to that fleet, like range, recovery rate....
In production tab, find anything that have ⚓ or ship icon in their mission icon
Ok
Are you trying to move or naval invade
There is a huge difference
and how big is the effect, I am going for both support/repair ship doctrines (screens and carriers), quality of service over quantity of service in the secret project, and a naval build of 3 carriers, 3 battleships, 20 light cruisers, 60 destroyers, 20 support ships, and 20 repair ships.
if you cant give an exact number describing it in words is also oke for me.
i want to reinforce my island for future plans
that is 3/3/20/60/20/20 per fleet btw. not in total.
hey guys I need help, what's the fastest way to form imperial federation as monarchist Britain? I remember doing a trick a long time ago where you had to invade Canada and your dominions, and I did but it's not bypassing the commonwealth ties focus
Did you manually move the divisions to a port
yes
Did you ctrl click the little anchor symbol in the place you want to go to
Ctrl right click
Left ctrl
cant you use the garrison area order?
nope
i will show
why not?
using that order you dont have to manually send them to every island.
You still need to assign the order
damn snipping tool
You could also use fallback lines as well
it wont let me screenshot
and that is just a left click on the island.
Ctrl c. Ctrl v
fallback lines?
steam screenshot feature?
how
Why not?
F12 if I am not mistaken.
Windows shift s, click and drag
okay
wont work as previously said.
though that is likely because he hasnt set the display mode to borderless.
.
.
That's allied supply
how do you know
i forgot that im a puppet
know what?
dang it
that im borderless?
When did the AI use that feature?
oh your display mode is on borderless?
I thought it wasnt.
im a commonwealth
yes
Yeah, you can still move there
You just won't have supply
Show me, I want to make sure
dont mind the.. stats
Idk the tile if it or the bottom tile has the port
But it should be fine
Wait, your troops already have an order
What's the order
i didnt issue one?
They have no red exclamation mark
what??
they have now
Since I downloaded the new DLC, when I open the focus tree it crashes (not instantly). Please help!
How about this
Make a fallback order on the island you want to go to
And then let the game run
alr
thank you habibi
thank you
so much
why didnt a garrison order do the job though?
I have naval supremacy over the required 500 to invade spain with italy. But my invasions don't start. I even accompanied them with ships to support. Now the support fleets are waiting together with my troops in the harbor since months. Is it maybe a mistake that I split my invasion force 6/4 to use both harbors in sardinia?
idk if im just dumb but is the naval update even more confusing n convoluted than before? i for the life of me cannot get the supremacy to invade uk as germany anymore
have they gotten rid of ghost field marshal planning?
half a year later still nothing. I can't see what is the hurdle. No tooltip says anything
It says division still preparing. But they are praparing for a yea now. Or more
yea idk yall, invading uk just seems impossible for me now, idk what i have to do
probs because supremacy (dominance as its now called) now trickles down slowly after you leave (at least I think that is how it works now), meaning you cant just wait for the moment the AI f#cks up by putting their navy elsewhere
is the invasion preparation bar near the general full?
support invasion mission no longer gives naval supremacy
The light yellow(? I'm colorblind) bar right to the general picture is full. On the bottom is an anchor with a clock
so if you set your whole battle fleet to support invasion, it will no longer multiply supremacy until you set it to strike force again
does it say how many days are left if you hover it?
yea somebody told me to patrol, so I did that in addtion and it gave me naval dominance
aight yea im lost, what is the new way i get a surefire way for supremacy against the damn royal navy, is it really just brute forcing against them? cuz i sure cannot
no, it says divisions still preparing -10%
can't they naval invade if below 100% fighting strength?
One of the two armies has green shield icons and one has red shields. And agaoin no tooltip telling why..
why do my naval bases have these wrenches
slap on a radar and even better sonar on that boy and no one can hide.
don't have good sonar
can i do it later
just relying on like
scouting
and uhh
yeah
also radar is special project sadly ugh
honestly, I prefer having destroyers as anti sub, so having sonar on it at all isnt the worst.
it's good, just add a radar and upgraded sonar if you can as said previously and also add at some AA to not get shat on by enemy planes
and its just a suggestion to make it so subs have a harder time hiding.
nono these are lcs
I know its a lc.
Spotting light cruisers
for spotting yes, but it can be better and its not good in combat due to its lack of firepower, most prominantly AA.
pure AA ideally, no double purpose, it's too costly for less AA stats
just put 2 lvl 1 AA and keep the lvl 1 light battery
Typically, you want them on Do not engage
then its good, but not the best.
as radar and beter sonar are possible.
but if that is where your current tech is its fine for now.
to be fair they're not required against AI as AI has really high surface visibility
hey i recently bought hoi4 and would like to learn how to play but the videos i watched move to fast and its not like i can ask questions if anyone would be willing to help teach me that'd be amazing i got an hour and a half free to hop in a vc and play if anyone's down?
that's good
i heard scouts add naval dom and like strikes multiply it
scouts won't add any supremacy because they'll be on never engage order while patrolling
could you send a screenshot?
how much energy does civilian reactor make
patrol (naval mission) is the basis upon which naval dominance is calculated, the amount each ship provides is shown above the terrain modifiers.
strike force multiplies your naval dominances (idk by how much or how its decided)
convpy raiding kills convoys ofcourse (sapping their supply) and decreases opposing naval dominance.
scouts on never engage don't add supremacy now?
they never did
it doesnt, as far as I know it decreases energy consumption. though I have yet to get one I think it follows the same logic as dams.
the "never engage" setting multiplies supremacy by 0
none
so i suppose making fast light cruisers with very little armaments and highest surface detection possible with floatplane catapults is not good now, as they will need to atleast be able to defend?
i know, but it wasnt relevant since strike force was already enough supremacy before the update
they aren't supposed to fight and they're still extremely good
you want them to spot enemy fleets so your ships on strike force/patrol can engage them, they're not there to fight and never have been
i know, but the point is, there will need to be atleast one other patrol force with orders to engage to add naval supremacy, correct?
Typically, I find it easier to watch long 1-2 hour videos for a specific path, then applying what I've learned there to my game really helps out with what works and what doesn't. We have an official guide made in collaboration with Youtubers HammoTimee and MachiavellianStrategist through the pins https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCqXIRRVZIY
No DLC required! If you're new to Hearts of Iron this is the video to start with.

okay will watch
yes
How should I organize the UK’s navy in 1936
zo guyz how d oi supply my ships
Feedback Gaming, Taureor, MachiavellianStrategist, and recently Segl, are typically my go-to youtubers hoi4 gameplay as they typically go through their games step by step. I will note that they use other DLCs so features you will see them use from other DLCs may not apply to you if you don't have them
Even with this i cant breakthrough
what do you reccomend for scouts with orders to engage? I generally just refit destroyers with sonar, radar and depth charges for anti submarine warfare, is that considered efficient?
try changing operational base
San Diego is on the west coast isnt it
the screenshot is from the caribean.
you don't want scouts with orders to engage
if you want scouts that engage, just don't build scouts as scouts are, by definition, not equipped to fight
just patrol with your fleet in that case
where san diego is.
what does this do
preparing for civil
Also how do i like change operational base
should change the home base each tile the fleet goes into a port
automates where their home base is (which decides where they can operate/fight/do whatever you want a navy to do) depending on where you want it to operate.
select fleet and CTRL+Rclick on the port
at least that is how it should work.
i see, thanks, should anti submarine destroyers be put on convoy escort instead?
you can also manually comb through the list.
if you don't have spotters, yes
this specifically
okay im in a mantchuko historical game
if you ask me yes, I personally prefer to use ASW destroyers alongside AA light cruisers for that. maybe I can throw in some escort carriers but due to tech problems I havent yet been able to use them as I have only been able to play hoi4 this month since today.
we got china, india and japan as players with me
never mind.
i see
this is my nav doctrines
Why can i not annex this puppet?
They or you did a focus and now you can't change their autonomy
members of the nordic defence council can never be annexed
I know that is how belgium and belgian congo works
what do you have in mind for carriers?
So i just cant?
yes, just like with personal unions
haven't designed navbombers yet might do later
just want like
ehh
i could use them for like multirole type
I tend to do mostly carrier nav bombers, some carrier fighters and some carrier dive bombers/CAS
what's the difference between carrier CAS and carrier naval bombers? I always just used naval bombers thinking they were interchangeable
current nav bomber design is just a basic small airframe with 1 lvl 1 torp mount, 1 4x machine gunes, 2x engines 2, light mg defense turret, and extra fuel tanks,
I honestly do not know, but given that when outside of battle they can do regular plane stuff I though it would be nice to have some mobile sea based CAS.
at least that is how I think it works now.
why arent these ships reinforcing my taskforces
also, what's the point of locking carrier planes to carriers in the air interface, do they just not follow the carrier if you don't?
how do i navalinvade guyz
you know how to make a general plan a naval invasion right?
Ok so I a conqueroring... I don't think this is working out
no
how do i do plans
what inf templates should i make as manchuko against player china?
what does declaring country considered major mean? im at peace
make a stanard one but add a few extra artillery?
i heard arty wasnt meta
you're fighting 1940s China, they have nothing but manpower, unless you have the industry to make tanks (You won't as Manchuko), you use Artillery to get your light attack over their Organ
ideally you don't
but ah
you won't have xp to change template anyway
use whatever you have
does anybody know how to naval invade UK as Germany in the new update?
- click the general.
- click the naval invasion order in the orders list that has now popped up. its an anchor with an arrow pointing to the top right (to the right of it is an order with a box like thing instead of an anchor, which is an order to naval invade with the support of floating harbours, which create a temporary supply hub).
- select the tile you want to launch from, it must have a harbour (indicated by the blue anchors on the world map, you can build your own too if you dont have any where you want them).
- select the tiles you want to invade by right clicking them.
- press enter (or esc then cancel).
(optional) assign units to the order by right clicking the order with units selected. - wait for naval dominance and the general to be finished planning the naval invasion, there is a progress bar.
- launch the naval invasion and see your troops land (or fail to secure a beach head).
huncheng lu good, wasting xp on changing template bad, better spent on doctrine
... how much xp do you have?
I would just deploy the second one
game start
maybe you can spare 15 xp and make the huncheng lu a 12w inf but eh
also idk why you are fighting china as manchu
where is japan like
oh... yeah no just use Hunchung for now, and start training those
im helping them
