Idea I had was this:

Washington, holding the idea that the President must serve the people and their interests, resolves to reverse many of Wilson’s segregationist ideas, seeing as they fought a war over this and it shouldn’t just be undone. This begins the rise of many radicals, on both sides, demanding either full integration or full segregation. Eventually a politician sympathizing with Germany gets aid from them in staging a coup, which goes awry and starts a civil war.

You have the segregationist Bloodcoats, led by someone (I don’t know yet, but they should be from the time), with a paramilitary group called the Hessian Legion, invoking how the Hessians assisted in the American Revolution

Thought some more about it, and came up with an elite military force for Napoleonic France

The Grenadier Legion

Armed with an MAS-38, four knives, a rapier, a belt of ten F-1 grenades and a shotgun designed by order of Napoleon, the average Grenadier is always ready to lay his life down for the Emperor of the French.

I'm writing this post because I'm looking for active coders to help me and the team finish our mod. We're especially looking for modders with technology modding experience.

The mod we're working on is called The Lost Isles. TLI is a total conversion mod set in the My Little Pony universe about 50 years before the show. We chose not to feature Equestria itself though, the mod takes place in an original part of the MLP world. TLI is set in the equivalent of 19th century, going from the Napoleonic Wars up to around 1880s. We chose to remake the tech tree from scratch to better suit the era and setting we're portraying, with a heavy focus smaller scale and faster paced combat. We will also feature unique technologies and units for each species.

TLI is first and foremost a gameplay mod. We put an emphasis on player freedom and emergent scenarios over handcrafted stories.
TLI is not affiliated with EaW in any way.

The tech and mechanics are almost fully planned already. The map is halfway finished, and the tech is around 70% coded. We need help to finish up the tech for now.

Okay so for the Historical Leaders mod I was thinking about the war goal focuses

And a problem I have a lot of the time is that a lot of the invasions in WWII were surprise attacks, but war justification and focuses notify the target of an incoming invasion

Kind of defeats the point of a “surprise attack” when it is by definition not a surprise

So perhaps the answer is a national focus that you click on and instantly go to war with the enemy. While that could potentially be REALLY over powered, I was thinking that it should really be only for goals against some of the major powers

For example, Napoleonic France calling a surprise attack on Britain would be balanced out by the fact that the naval invasions will take a day or two to land, which should be enough time to bring the isle’s forces to bear

Or with Germany against the Soviet Union, there’s enough land that they don’t really need to worry about giving up too much ground in a surprise attack

And as a player on the defensive against these invasions, they would have to have a little foresight; knowing what that nation’s tree will lead to and taking preemptive defensive measures

And in that case, there’d really be no difference at all

Some alt hist scenario i think would be a cool mod. kind of based on 1984 in a lot of ways now I think about it. D-day fails and the soviets are able to steamroll through all of Germany but they continue going and occupy much of north and eastern France, yet the southern landings are still a success, leading to a north-south French divide. the failure to protect their ally for a second time leaves the British government in a moral crisis in which much of the government resigns, leaving the government vulnerable and weak. The allies had won the war but democracy is a far less formidable force in this world and the soviets are able to utilise the resources of continental Europe to their own growth. they become a huge economic powerhouse, greater than the US within a few years.
With Britain in ruin and America not willing to give money to them as it is required to defend their own nation, the only option is for the two entities to unify into a single federation. Oh and South France is here too. Many in both governments, while initially supportive, soon found themselves opposing the union as it did little to help Britain and just put additional strain on America. The entire government collapses and British Union of Fascists seize the opportunity to take over the federation and Mosley is placed in charge. Mosley's economic reforms help greatly to fix the nation and forms a strong Autarky independent of reliance on the communists.
Within a few years, the Anglo-American feel like they are strong enough to take the soviets by surprise and WWIII begins in 1960. The French front is an absolute failure but invasions through the baltic and north seas prove to be a success at first but the entire thing falls into a nasty stalemate just outside of Moscow. That's where the mod begins.
