I have very weird consisted crashing behavior without any error messages in the logs with my map mod. Happens when I hover over the Beijing area and zoom in. Any idea what that could cause?

All the spot mods change gameplay IIRC
not really, there is nothing in the files to indicate that they would (with the exception of host tools and modifications other people did unrelated to the optimizations themselves)
I got it (fixed) The Spot Optimization installed and that messes with gameplay, hence I dont use it
the optimizations mainly touch graphics defines
The original spot mod changed the time between event checks since in the early versions it didn't really matter all that much
delaying that check breaks events that presume once-per-30-days checking in their trigger
I forgot if there are any in vanilla, there were multiple in Road

But it does touch gameplay in some way since it's an mp mod and therefore does do qol

In MP it makes people lag for longer before slowing the game down, which seems like asking for a desync to happen
best you can do is probably fps map and non reflective water
Optimisation here is mainly limited to deleting countries or making the AI not do anything

Although i am using use_list_view = yes on the idea folder, i cannot seem to get the ideas for this set to be listed , also the coal function is stuck. GUI for government seems to be the same, please help
use_list_view must be used every time a block adds eco ideas
so that can be in multiple files
It doesnt actually have to be all files I think, but adding it tends to fix it

everytime i try to play after selecting a country it crashes idk if this is cause of the No compromise no surrender mod braking stuff (As I had to remove and readd files from the main game to the mod as the mod was made pre No compromise no surrender) but now it just won't launch is it cause the old country TAGs in china are doing something?

beacause u prob changed or the game added some weird provinces which make the provinces non coastal but u use your definition ig so they didnt update

Don't know if you've tried this already, but basically go into Nudge and regenerate buildings for all provinces. Whenever I have updated my mods that was a severe problem but updating buildings seems to fix
yeah the only time ive seen is that communist_anarchist brazil is cangao brazil and stalisnist austria becomes austrian soviet republic
its should probably be used more, theres a couple countries that are juntas or can become millitary dictatoships but none get the millitarism sub-ideology (only japan has its leaders and its puppets)
like the lithuanian milltary path is actually oligarchism
me and my friend are thinking about making the mod that probably make the trade fairer since we thought it's not fair to buy 8 steel for 1 factory when you can buy 8 chromium for 1. Since we need steel more and steel is much more cheaper so we thought making a mod that may change the prices of resources.
For 1 factory we can get
20 steel
20 coal
6 rubber
8 Aluminum
4 Tungsten
4 Chromium.

I'm aware that HOI4 had less subideologies before, it was in like 1.14 they added populism for democracy and 1.17 they added militarism for N-A, emperor fascism, and Buddhist socialism

and only the east asian nations uses those 3 currently
So yeah before they had much less to work with. I do agree that it would be cool to see more differences between subideologies and them being used more

The only difficult thing is that subideologies aren't defined by either ideology or government type, it's always a mix of both
If they ever make a HOI5 I feel like the party/ideology/government type system should work more like it does in HOI3

Is there anyone who is good at making icons to give me few tips on how to improve overall quality of the icon, so its not as pixelated, like what size should i use, filters etc, i did this just as a test, using Paint.net but i dont like that quality is bad, i do have Photoshop as well but paint.net is easier for me at least now
I suggest learning photoshop, I have found from my experience it is a far better tool

But as for my tips, make use of a slight drop shadow/black glow on the icon, it will probably look better that way
A focus icon that I made for example, notice every single element has a drop shadow, even if its not as noticeable

Also use this resource, it is full of tons of HOI4-style elements you can use in your focuses. It makes making focuses take significantly less time and they look close to the ones in the base game or at least look nice

im making a mod, while testing it in game i tried opening HOi4 with my mod in Playset and it didnt work
when i tried loading a Different mod like Kaiserreich
it worked fine
but my mod auto closes the game

buildings from v17 were missing for some reason

Considering what I've had to do to fix my mods, yea its not fun
Can't imagine what it's like for larger mods, but then again I'm a one-man show most popular mods have fairly large teams or at least a few people

Well I've played RON a few times and can say it's a very expansive mod so it must be awful
The backend is even worse, the entire mod is held together by hopes and prayers
The funny thing for me is when I have to go back and fix something that I realized I never fixed after updating, I know very well that there are things in my mods that are broken that I have forgotten about
That statement is definitely true for the USA Rework, was only the 2nd real mod I had made and as a result I notice a lot of terrible things in the code because I did not have standards back then...
But yeah I gotta feel really bad for larger mods, ton of work gotta go into updating...

Weird, I just copied it from the hoi4 files and changed owners and cores. In the official tutorial they do the same thing without any additional files or anything.

I don't create my own files, I use the .psd backgrounds from the resource that I shared
I just copy the psd's over into the folder for the focus icons and then save as then dds once I add stuff to them
Navassa island has little strategic importance and would be way to small to see so I wont consider adding it, but maybe next update if I can remember I'll add guantanamo bay and maybe make the Virgin Islands a state too idk

Those are errors that come from not having the base game files indexed

IIRC it multiplies the priority with amount of battalions, so a low prio one is still default if theres lots of it

Hey, I'm doing " Mughal Influenc" on the Congo tree, exactly as shown in the picture. I'm changing it from striving for independence to βCongo_Influenc,β which I added to the dynamic modifier. Everything works fine, the only problem is that after making the focus, the territories already controlled by βCongoβ get the modifier on the land, but the newly conquered territories don't. I don't know how to arrange the code and what to add to make it work, and I've been struggling with it for an hour already.
And adding the βconditionβ that if congo does not have this territory, the modifier should disappear.

Photoshop doesnt have dds,it has tga,but issue with tga is that it exports it with white background

No, the mod for UK i did not make it. You know Victoria, the guy from Spain who's pretty famous and this chapter responding to people, he's the one that made it. ok so now you have the mod folder open Visual Studio Code and open that folder in it. Create a folder called interface and then a file called _Tag_leader_portrait.gfx

So then how do I convert an image into ADDS? Because a lot of images are jpegs or PNG, DDS are pretty rare, especially when you're just looking up country ball pictures.

Also, how do I make sure that I actually rename all of the leaders? Not just make it to where all the leaders portraits are Germany Ball, but to where they're all named germany Balto where like the the leader name is Germany Ball?
