i've been making a map mod and i have a few countries right now
i've been trying for a bit but i can't quite figure out how to make them start with units and division templates
i did look a bit up online to try see how i could do it but i kind of hit a dead end because the unit files for the countries require production companies which i don't know how to add (for context, i cloned a germany thingymajig from the history/units folder and there was a bit about mauser and other like manafacturers)

You need to start a singleplayer game first, then return to menu, then go to database

I think that because when you used nudge, nudged added file which causes an error in your local file. I recommend you to change copy the file which is added to the local folder into your mod file and delete original file in the local folder.

This is much easier than you expect. First, right click the hoi4 app in the steam library and select management/control(I don’t know correct translation) and chose view local file. Then, you will open history file in that local file and open states file. Then you will copy and paste the file inside this folder.
You can just select all of the files inside it and press copy at top right of your window and paste it to your mod file and delete original file

i did more troubleshooting. it was an issue with gimp saving colors in 0-100 rather than 0-255 so a bunch of duplicate provinces existed. i fixed it and i can load into singleplayer and use the nudge tool
ig if anyone is using gimp check the color format you're using cause a total psychopath designed gimp

any_country will not work (its used within triggers, but you are within an effect), you need to use every_country instead

Looks like you didn't use the fill tool correctly so the RGB values in that spot don't match the rest of the province
as for the units, you'll have to regen the unit markers in nudge

bruh look up a guide on nudge tool, it's not changed in years. You open the tool, generate the markers, save, then find the file and overwrite
also if its brung up the idea used on the liberty_path is a copy of the german free_elections one that increases democracy support
I don't think you can use set_politics to only allow/disallow elections, that effect is for ideology changes. If you open the crash/error log it will probably cite that line.

Templates are a bit iffy because the Hoi4 division structure is a heavily simplified version of real military structures, what you can of course do is try to emulate them as much as anyhow possible:
"Hoi4 Folder>common>units>names_divisions" contains the namelists used in divisions when generating them, edit the names as you see fit there
"Hoi4 Folder>history>units" contains the oob files which contain the division templates, the names those templates use, what unit with what template spawns where, and the production of a country at the point in thime that the file is loaded (game start most commonly of course)

What you are trying to do requires mostly research into historical documents though, as finding out where specific units where stationed at on January First 1936 is very time consuming

There are paratrooper raids, air raids, and nuclear raids. There are several kinds of air raids including research facility strikes, oil field strikes, and dam strikes. You can also get special air raids on landmarks but only from focuses

looking around for an answer to a question I've been trying to figure out.
Once in a while, you'll run across an event, be it vanilla or mod, that will autocomplete an opposing mutual focus even after you've done the other, effectively giving you the benefits of both.
I'm currently testing something with a focus tree I've been working on, and I'm curious to know if there's a command or way to manually replecate this effect. I know theres 'ignoreprerequisites' which lets you pick anything at any time, but still nullifies mutuals. Since the game can occasionally fire a mutual focus despite being nullified, I'm wondering if there's a command or tool to do this manually in game.

And in case you “erase” all vanilla countries (ie replace_folder = "history/countries"), check you put all the history files of the vanilla country even if in the file, it is only “capital = 1”.

I managed to create another tier of victory point
The image has the tipical square vp
the new pentagon vp
a new vp icon I created to be between 15 and 25
and the usuall ball (20+, in this case, 25+)
Based on what I've managed to accomplish here, it is possible to add multiple vps, no limitation.

Minor VP: Graz
Medium VP: Raab
New intermediary medium-major vp: Budapest and Brünn
Major VP: Prag
