Hello, im making a new map mod that depicts a fictional world that starts with a tech equivalent to WW1 and can develop up to the Cold War equivalent, currently i've already made the whole map and created 16 initial nations in the files, however i only know of one way to give states to each nation which is to set them as the owner/controller in the state files, my map has over 1000 thousand states so this can get intensive, is there no quicker way to edit the states to give them to countries? i thought the Nudger would help but got no luck there, any ideas?

if you're talking about module slot, I don't think you can dynamically unlock module slot. It is based on chassis

And so far when I test it it usually just says that the slots aren't unlocked for this equipment type
you need go to units/equipment folder and open the chassis/airframe file to edit each chassis to be able to unlock the slot you want
does anyone know how to change research date? since my starting date is 1920 i dont want infantry research to be in 1936, i tried putting 1921 but they all collided in one place
start_year = 1921. the position = { x = 0 y = @1936 } is visual side, so if you edit incorrectly it it will mess it up and collide in one place
@ 1936 is a variable, the variable is defined at the top of the file usually. So in your case I guess you tried to edit it to @ 1921, but it is undefined so it default to 0

Been trying to find an answer to this issue everywhere but I'll drop a question here as well, ever since the gotterdammerung update my total rework mod for hoi4 got very laggy when the game is unpaused, the mod has less content then vanilla game so it shouldnt be slower then vanilla in any case. The game logs don't give much of a help either, right now I'm a bit stuck on how to fix the weird lag issue, I'm guessing it's something to do with the special projects

I would use cosmetic tags and switch between the tags using the on-action on_ruling_party_change. Quick and dirty alternative is to apply the cosmetic tag as an effect of the focus or decision that's changing the ideology.

Yes but make sure it's encoded in UTF-8-BOM or else it won't work. Also should be in a folder called "english". Path should look like [mod]\localisation\english\[filename]_l_english.yml

Made my first mod! A change to aircraft squadron size to 50 from 100. Not a historical size for the squadrons, but it should play well with the airfield sizes of 200/400... The size of 24 in some mods did not seem to play well with Naval damage, thus I am experimenting with 50.
Also I am playing with a China buff since they seem to lose worse than history to Japan when both are on AI. Also - any ideas for a nerf to British Raj or the Dominion of India as Japan never reaches Burma.

try look at error.log and search for the tag and the spirint name/id. Use Visual studio code or notepad++ to search. Maybe it tells you which part not working correctly

Millenium Dawn is probably one of the worst optimized mods
and I suspect its due to the sheer amount of content it has
I was doing a ranking, ignore the markers
but look at how many irrelevant nations have content
no way they put transnistria on top
And I wanted to know if removing/replacing a lot of these focus tree's with smaller generic ones would make an impact
its the most recent content they put on top
but the fact transnistria gets content is a problem
well since its a massive amount of countries in this scenario it does make a difference

Hello. My civilian factories in the game are constantly falling without me doing any trade etc. Could it be related to the focus tree?

yeah that does it, basically germany's mefo bills makes it lose its civilian factories to consumer goods
if you can't conquer quickly enough it can get really annoying
when you conquer countries you can use their resources in the decisions screen to reduce the effect of the MEFO bills on your economy
you need to do this focus to remove it completely
but to be able to do this focus you need to capitulate either USSR or the allies
since you can't get enough resources otherwise
the right side of the tree is terrible if you're not gonna speedrun, in an even remotely historical game(i.e no paratrooper shenanigans to capitulate the UK very quickly) then the left side is 100% better
Do you think it would be appropriate to proceed with the left focus tree without MEFO analysis?
you can't go the left side at that point, you'd need to restart the game to do that
if you have went the right side, try to capitulate the soviets quickly

if you go mefo bills, you 100% need to win fast, otherwise your industry suffers
if you're new to the game go prioritize economic growth instead of 4 year plan
but this is not normal even with mefo bills, are you building civs early game?

I am trying to make a thing for switzerland where, by completing the focus, you can hide/store either allied or axis gold (or maybe both) and attempting to make it so that the longer you keep it after the war, the less buff it gives you until eventually turning into debuffs. is there any way i could do this? I would use Dynamic Modifiers and for the function that decreases the modifier when at war, i would do either a repeating mission or use on_actions (on_weekly or on_monthly)

Hi, I don't know if you still have the problem, but something that worked for me was to change the name of the file, I was using the one that had the base game and I think that caused some kind of conflict, I left the one that was originally empty to avoid problems and move everything to the new file, I hope that helps you too.

hey guys I am trying to change the name of a country I searched in google and it came up with config/world_names.csv where is this?
That is not in fact the correct file! To change a country name you need to make a localisation folder in your mod folder and then make a countries_l_english folder and then you can copy and paste the country’s name you wanna changes details into that file and edit it
There’s also a alias (idk if it’s called alias fs) file you should also copy and paste and change to get it to work

Huh, that's weird. I don't think I've got improper syntax though. For example, it's doing it in the color.txt file, all the bracket blocks are working except for the one I put in (copy and paste of the prior ones or replacement of one, for example for a test I replaced Poland with something else, replaced the POL tag in color.txt with my own tag, changed the numbers a little bit, and it's saying parsing error in the space before the first number but after the first bracket.)

I can't access my code for color.txt atm (I'm currently unable to access my PC), but here's another a photo I took like a week ago of another location where the error is happening (I did change the numbers around, now they match Belgium's color RGB now). It's just a copy and paste of Polands country file
Essentially, it's the same problem in the color.txt file, but instead of being on the number it's in the space before the number.

The color files I believe aren't registering the correct colors, and the files where the countries name would be inputted to be displayed in game (I can't remember it's name, country_tags or countries I think though) is having a similar error and the name isn't showing up in-game. However, I haven't been able to check, it won't load in the mod anymore (the game crashes when it initializes) so I'm trying to find the bad bit of code that's causing that issue so I can check the focus tree stuff and all that. However, basic gameplay-wise, from what I've seen so far, it doesn't break it completely, just a little bit annoying.

Yes, I basically copied the entire folder and just replaced Poland tag and RGB with my own
And I’d try remaking the issue code to see if it errors out again and if it doesn’t then you can just assume you went wrong somewhere

Nope, everything else is fine. The error shows up only after I modify Poland, in the space before the RGB color, and it shows up as a random piss yellow rather than whatever color Belgium is. Everything else works fine though.

You can use trainer to force console in Ironman on but it will turn off your stats and probably achievements (50/50 but as I remember you still will be able to get them) this game. In console you can try whitepeace command this should work but I’m not sure.
Opening the console and entering a command I believe turns off achievements, as well as modifying the game, including the files and saved game, of any sort.
They should make a port of Iron Hearts 4 for mobiles

Oh definitely. All the color stuff is working now, which is super nice, and my countries name is showing up on the map. Now there's a random parsing error in my national focuses:

(The underscore at the end of the country_event block is the parsing error, and I'm not remembering my programming correctly I know, so that is 100% wrong, I copied the block from Germany and changed the event name basically).
The silliness of this all escapes me, but I don't think it's causing any issues right now for here or anywhere else, which is super nice. Thanks a ton for helping out though, I really appreciate it (hopefully I can find out why the silly my program is bugging out)!!
