Hi I am trying a mod with a custom map. I made it and launched (without any countries) but I am getting this error in the live error log (that opens when launching in debug mode) over multiple provinces.
Province 375 is setup as coastal but has no port building in the nudger. This will likely crash the game.
Note this is on all costal provinces, this is just an example

man i appreciate that modders take the time to design a UI that fits the theme of their mods, but i wish they would allow you to choose default UI too somehow. it looks cool and all but it can be very unreadable like in TNO or NWB

The icons are only there to look good. It’s actually just hidden tech that adds bonus to all infantry units.

I’m trying to make a custom nation and all seems to work fine but for some reason when I build a new factory or get one from a focus I have to tag over to another country then back for the game to register
I am searching for someone that is very good at balancing units, equipment and modules but most importantly support units.

i tried to replace every possible flag of germany with the real one
but in game
its just showing black
for the large flags
in hte gfx folder
i can see small and medium
but not large flag folder
the big one is not showing while the smaller ones show
Every flag has his own size, if you go over the size or make It to Little It wont appear, or maybe you didnt save the file correctly
i manually resized every file
so i basically copied the image from the net
pasted it on the existing flag file
without expanding canvas
and manually sized the copied image to the size of the canvas
but which ones in the flags folder are meant to be the large images

The first answer is always, "Look through the game files and figure out how they do it in the base game"
But in this case, you add prerequisite = { focus = focus_id_here } to the focus
If it requires all the focuses, you add one for each individual focus
If it's either/or (the one with the dotted line), you instead format it as prerequisite = { focus = focus_id_1 focus = focus_id_2 }

First, rename the cosmetic tag from OGZ to TUR_OGZ just to clarify what it is and which nation it's for

In the localisation file, you can see that TUR is named like the above, but you can also name your cosmetic tag the same way as a regular, consolidating the 4 tags you wanted to make into one.

Hello Hello, I have a problem where the Poland standart portrait (Igancy Mosckicki) just refuses to change. I have replaced everything and the other portraits i have replaced work.
Path: C:\Users\Insertnamehere\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Hearts of Iron IV\mod\Modname\gfx\leaders\POL
The file is .dds and i have done everything with Gimp. The File is also good size
The other countries i have replaced are Germany and USSR

Set variables in the history file or somewhere else, not in the dynamic modifier

Try moving adding the dynamic modifier in the history file instead of startup on_action

In the section "Decision Cost" i found the "custom_cost_trigger", I also found the statement As the custom cost can't be used in conjunction with the regular cost, if it includes political power, the AI will not be aware that it should save up an amount of it before taking the decision. This can be remidified with ai_hint_pp_cost = 100: this attribute will make the AI think that the decision will use 100 political power regardless of whether it does or not, making sure it will save up that much before trying to use it. This must be a constant amount rather than being a variable. In particular the "ai_hint_pp_cost" is of interest to me. How would I "create a hint" for the AI for something that is not political power, e.g army experience or manpower? I can't find anything conclusive about that in the docs...

The Götterdämmerung Update seems to have completely borked my mod, for some reason that only happened now, the error log seems to imply to me that it's a wide mix of different issues. Since the game crashes on startup, i cant work on the mod on the newest game version. Is there a conclusive guide on what exactly changed and how I can get my mod up to date and have it not crash and burn

question: is there a mod that allows me to "focus" my industry? one that allows me to either spread my factories on a lot of projects or concentrate on a few but then with more civs:
For example, with 60 civs after CGF i have 4 construction lines of 15 factories ordered in a queue.
now i take a decision to re-allocate them to 3 lines of 20 civs to speed up the construction of a few buildings because the enemy is at the gates and i really need those forts now.
or i can decentralize my construction efforts and start building in 6 lines at once with 10 civs per line only.
then i can set a goal for construction queues, say i want 6 lines, which get filled up to the set centralization cap after rank in the construction queue, but so that every line has at most 1 civ less than the line in first place, creating an equal spread.
is there anything like that?

This might sound a bit stupid, but try reading these things up on the wiki. Most smaller question can be answered with that without having to wait for someone to come along and answer it, saves time

well, it transfers a specified state. The state is used in that snippet is "FROM" which according to the wiki entry is the state the nuke was dropped in
so FROM is different everytime a nuke drops
as long as the nuke isn't dropped in the same state multiple times

I have a question myself now: The last update has created states that now come into ID conflict with my custom states. What's the best way to resolve this problem? Change my states to other IDs or change the new base game states to other IDs? I am using my custom IDs in other parts of my mod so I am hesitant to shuffle around anything here because it would break stuff at other points...

You can use replace_path to overwrite state changes iirc, but since I don't need to do that I'm not super used to it
But I can imagine if it's based on vanillas states + extra it might still cause problems if new updates drop.
For example a new focus tree in vanilla might target state 245 but if that's now something else in your mod thats gonna cause problems, but you might not notice it because its a silent error

@cursive pivot Yeah, first get the state/tile ids. Then, you can go into history/units/POL_1936 and history/units/SOV_1936 and copy the file into your mod. Then delete the default divs that spawn on the state id you gathered.

The game crashed the moment I click on play after selecting a country. Which file is responsible for defining gun emplacements in the states?

Dommunist paths are CGT, Anti fascist alliance, Stalinist, while Democratic paths are Blum -> Daldier -> Reyound (historical), Blum, that conservative guy whoose name I forget

what I usually do is write a python script that lets me write each state id and automatically edits the files for me
but you've still gotta gather the state IDs
there might be a way to get it from a save game file if you turn off save_as_binary in your settings.txt but don't quote me on that I'm just theorizing

hi folks, how does one create a (preferably good, or at least decent) entirely new map from scratch in this beautiful game?
I wanna create a like, kind of warlord battle royale mod, with each country being led by me and one of my friends, and although that can be done in any old map, I'd really like for it to be in a south-america exclusive map
cause vanilla (and most mods) have kind of lackluster south america maps, and me and my friends are all south-american
and afaik there exists no such map, so I'd have to create it myself
