That's not unlucky, it's quite common. Especially for smaller mods
Modding is essentially charity work, as nobody is getting paid. Skilled modders would often rather create their own mods than join someone else's.
You can ask yourself the reverse question: Why haven't you joined someone else's mod and spent your precious time working hard on it?
i get that, i've worked on a bunch of mods before but literally all of them died before any of them got close to release, it was an online friend group sort of but my mods the only one thats still (kind of) alive
still, i wonder how newer mods actually got their teams together to release a functioning playable mod with content, like TFR or Red Dusk
From my experience, a lot of mods tend to mostly be carried by a single developer. If productive and thriving, other people may join in to grant peripheral support and make minor contributions. If lucky, one of them is competent and passionate enough about the project to do bigger stuff and actually stick around for longer

How do you make custom game rules?
I'm trying to make a submod which transfers over the "join faction" rule to "event only" from r56 to another mod I play.
I copied the game rule but it only made the button which works just fine but it doesn't effect anything. The 00_game_rules file in "/common/" only allows editing of the text and description of the game rule where do I see where the actual effects of the game rule is?

It's up to you, and really depends on the mod you're making. You'll have to choose whether you'd rather change the state IDs of your modded states, potentially breaking your modded files, or not including the new vanilla states (through a replace_path folder override) and potentially breaking new vanilla files

There are two Hearts of Iron IV folders. Search for Hearts of Iron in your files, and you should find the files inside one of the folders
If you want to change what countries borders look like you can change the owner of a state in the states file. Like this:
owner = GER
to
owner = POL
Make the star yellow as well as the white black, the yellow red, and the red yellow

Hello, I have a question about whuchcontent has to be locked behind the dlc.
For the mod I am working on we are planning to rework naval cpmbat to make it closer to the modern day.
For this we are using our own anti ship missile equipment (whuch can only do the kamikaze mission), and we made it so all ships are capable of shooting missiles.
What do we have to lock behind the dlc?
Ik the antiship missile is prob fine as it uses features everyone has acces to.
But should I lock the ability of ships to be able to use em behind the dlc?
It works using what they added for missile submarines, but I do not know if it counts as a dlc feature as I am using it in a very different way.

I keep getting the error "A local mod with the same remote id already exists", I've looked in the forum etc but the solutions posted there simply don't work for a reason.

another idea is I could have 3 hidden advisors with an empty portrait added to every country, and a debuff like -10% pp gain or something and those hidden advisors are called 'Evacuated Asset'
When an advisor gets evacuated, that advisor is replaced by the stand-in 'Evacuated Asset' advisor which cannot be replaced for a few days, until the original advisor that was in the slot is selectable again(EG: NOT: Evacuated Political Assets ✅ ). Surely that would be doable?

Hey there I've been trying to make a mod that changes the map however I've noticed that whenever I edit the province file in GIMP without even making any changes just opening it and then saving it causes the game to crash on startup with debug mode enabled. Could anyone help me in fixing this? I'm just starting with modding and going off the PDX YT tutorials and the wiki.

Are you sick of losing out on civilian factories? Currently the Norwegian focus 'Invite Foreign Investments' is bugged. The trigger isn't complete in the events text file.
The mod does a single thing. It checks if the countries accepted the event and gives you your rightful civ factories.
is it ai bound too or just gives them to you?

what i mean by ai bound is, is the ai going to always accept or can it also decline
The AI can and will decline a lot. From my experience (with 100 opinion) sometimes all 3 accept sometimes all 3 decline. But most of the time 1 or 2 accept. All the base game does is puts:
ai_chance = { base = 10}
I actually didnt change the AI at all. The game already solves the first half of the event where the accepting countries get a national spirit of -10% consumer goods buff. It just never continues to the second part of the event where you get your factories. I think it was a developer typo.
All my mod does is look to see if they have that spirit, and if they do then I trigger the event that should have been triggered.
In the base game I don't think its possible to trigger *'country _event id = AAT_norway_allied.2 &.3' *

You need to edit a couple of files, as MD uses generic MIOs for all tags except a specified array.

hey, so my local mod works but when i try to load up the uploaded version it launches vanilla, all the fils are in the workshop version and it has the correct size in the launcher
you cannot have the same mod twice, local and steam. if you have 2 mods with the same name it does not work

thats not how the game works you cant OWN a province only occupy it
there is a command in the cosole ig wich is "occupationpaint" wich allows you to click on a province and occupy it though if you unpause the nation you took it from will take it back even if you are not at war
u can also type OP in the console for it like ic for instantconstruction
just transfer the state if its a state but you cant keep only a province, you could mod the game so the province is its own state and you could transfer that the new state to yourself

If you wanna replace just part of the files, you can make a replace folder in your mods' localization folder, loc in there will automatically replace stuff in vanilla, even if the filename doesnt match

So basically, the game seems wonky once i played with the mod. Either side of the spanish civil war has no resistance - germans and Italians don't sent help in, and the axis are way to weak to make any headway even after wars are declared
