Hi, I am currently working on a mod for Hearts of Iron 4.
I want to remove the 1939 start date bookmark.
I managed to achieve this by just making an empty "bllitzkrieg.txt" in my "bookmarks" folder.
However, I have an issue with this. When I click singleplayer, I am immidietaly moved to the interesting countries list in 1936. And the issue is that when I click the "Back" button it does not work, since it's supposed to move you to the bookmarks panel, but that one just atomatically moves you to the interesting countries panel in 1936. So when you click it, it does nothing.
I would like to fix this issue. Either by making the Back button just move you to the main menu of the game. Or by keeping the bookmark selection screen, but with only the 1936 start date. Please help, I don't mind either of those options, but the simpler one to code would be nicer. Thanks for any help.
you need to offset the 1939 bookmark so that it falls off-screen
its what road to 56 does
center the 1936 bookmark, then make the distance between start dates an immense number

Commissioning mods for games can be legal if approved by the game developer, but it may still need to consider national laws, copyright law, and hacking laws

Basically, I want Japan to start the game as a non-aligned Japanese Empire (not shogunate) rather than the fascist one we have in the base game.
Also since both parties would have their ideologies swapped, how do I make Japan turn fascist when u complete the showa restoration and remain monarchist when u complete the "Purge the kodoha faction"?

hello i have a quick noob question since the answer on reddit was deleted by the moderators, how do you increase the excersice cap of units to the max level?
Since paradox loves us they changed it where u need to change places of airbases. With the latest release u now need to change it in map pixels in a different file. (map/buildings.txt) the file is unbelievably long as in 60000 rows but in this file everything gets placed per state. As in forts, ports, floating harbors, etc. The first 3 numbers is the state, after that the type of building and after that the map pixels (picture 1). Tip: for example ctrl+f type in '702;a'. Like this u will find your row the quickest.

All the way on the bottom it says the map pixel you are hovering over rn.

in defines, 0 is basically level 1 unit in game, so for veterans you wanna change it to 4 i think, but check that 😄

This deleted artillery in my game when i named it artillery.txt and did nothing when I named it something else.
I was told doing things this way NDefines.NAir.AIR_WING_MAX_STATS_BOMBING = 10000 was the best way. Is there some equivalent syntax for changing equipment?
I know I could make a mod with a copied version of artillery.txt and make my change there, but was wondering if there is a better way to do this when I just want to edit specific fields for a small number of items.

I had an idea that might enhance the overall hoi4. A potential mod that visually represents a timeline of major events during ww2 that the player that try to achieve based on the historical timeline. E.g. try to invade Poland by 1st September 1939, take Paris by June 14th 1940. This would be dependant on countries but could also make it a cool achievement to unlock
