Update: I read I need to change the descriptor file (I assume it's the DS_Store file)
But I have no idea what to do, the file looks weird
I believe it might be possible that your files look like video files just because your OS doesn't recognize the file type and hence doesn't know how to properly display it
that's the case for me at least and if it is for you it is probably just a visual thing
but maybe I misunderstood your problem, as long as your extensions and stuff like that are correct you should be good

I don't know if you mean states or regions or if you mean to generate a claim on a region or to annex it
I am not sure if you can transfer the ownership of whole strategic regions without using some special scripted effects
if you want to transfer a state you could use transfer_state
it really depends on what you want to accomplish but all of this stuff can be found on the wiki for modding
I can also suggest just finding a focus from a country that does what you want to do, then finding it in the hoi4 game files and just copying what it does

even if you can't drag more people into working on the code itself due to noone else knowing how to do it I still suggest having people around you be invested in the project so that you can brainstorm with others and bounce ideas off one another
there are also a lot of different components going into a big mod which isn't coding
so a wide range of expertise is good and such a thing is likely to be found by employing more people
and it makes it less of a hassle

I wanted to back up a current version of a mod, I backed it up, and the backed up version was working, but the actual one wasn't. I opened the descriptor file of the backed up version and removed the path code and the actual original mod was working fine, although the new version was nowhere to be seen.

Good evening everyone (thank you for welcoming me in this wonderful server) I recently acquired the DLC The Resistance, and I noticed that no matter whether i play Orleanist or Legitimist France the flag is the same for both (which is historically not RP). So I wanted to create one specifically for the Orléanists. I went to GFX>flags, and I simply took the line "fra_third_empire_neutrality.tga" (copied) and replaced by "fra_orleans_neutrality.tga", and the same for medium and small flags. But when i'm in game, if medium and small work, the main flag is in black flag. How can this be remedied, and besides how is it that the Bonapartists have their own line code of flag, but not the Orleanists? What solution can I find? Thank you in advance!

Yo, I'm a mod author for dark ui and I just got pissed that someone uses my mod with no credits and just reported it on steam page. After some thoughts on it, I felt quite bad since my mod is old like a year old and just came back and it's shit anyways. I have backed up a current mod version, it works fine, but the original mod doesn't work if there is a valid path in the backed up mod's descriptor file. After I delete the file, the original mod works fine. Can anyone provide a solution that would make both mods be available at the same time, without deleting and retyping the path

so you can access the locked dlc focus trees for countries in the focus tree files
what if i took that
and put it in a mod
boom, mod with dlc focus trees
not any other features, just the focus trees
yeaaah and those focus trees frequently make use of the content found in the dlcs
and are all of the like image files for the dlcs stored in the base game and locked behind a normal has_dlc check or are they downloaded when you get the dlc
well i can remove the checks in the mod
cause if that's the case you might be able to have the focus trees but it won't have any icons anywhere
also ive done it before on the xbox version
its just focuses, nothing else is being released
also its techincally paradoxes fault for making a horrible dlc checkign system

Hey, so I'm trying to make a radio station mod but since I'm completely illiterate in HOI4 modding I followed this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWUhe70ue6A. The mod works completely fine and plays normally but my only problem is this oversized icon in the Image I sent that takes up the entire radio station selection area. I tried making the width and length smaller in the mod files but they had 0 effect. I also looked through the wiki and couldn't find anything either, Anyone know how to fix this??

well, thats easy :D, if you wanted to replace just one, for the example im using blitzkrieg, you woud open the file of the one your replacing and delete all text or option make your file's data in blitzkrieg, i prefer option 1

Hello, I thought of a mod idea that doesnt seem very difficult to add (I don't know a lot about modding but it seems simple)
This mod would be called something like "Extreme Training" which through a decision you can activate on or off.
The decision will allow you to train above the maximum, all the way to Veterans but at the cost of significantly higher attrition for the division.
This is meant to simulate a very extreme form of training, one that will lead to more death and loss of equipment but will allow you to create an army of extremely skilled soldiers

you probably need a replace_path entry which magna europa almost certainly also uses to not load base game map files

I'm not sure if I can share links here but I think you can find it yourself
you just need to convert your music to .ogg files
upload them on the website
it'll make all the needed files
except the descriptor.mod which you get when you create the mod in the paradox launcher
then you need to change the names of the songs in the localisation file or they'll be just the same as the file names
and change the radio station icon in the gfx folder
it's in .dds format so you'd need an editing software that can work with that
in the music folder in the txt file you can change the chances for the songs to play, for example make some of them only play at war
also you need to make a thumbnail
it has to have 1:1 resolution ratio and not too big size, I don't remember exactly but if you keep it under 512kb it'll definitely work
it's for the steam workshop (and also shows up in the paradox launcher mod list)
if you want you can also make your song play in the main menu and loading screens by replacing the main theme
for that you just need to rename your song to hoi4mainthemeallies.ogg and place it in the music folder
thumbnail.png should be in the mod folder, same one as descriptor.mod
