Fun fact: If you mod the game so a general's division cap is 0 or lower instead of the standard 24, you can no longer assign them to lead an army. To my knowledge, there is no way to make this happen in vanilla, so I'm surprised this edge case is in the game at all.
Apparently you still can, but only by selecting them via clicking on one of their still-clickable GUI elements - the background that's grayed-out is no longer selectable, but their portraits, traits, etc. still are.

Alright, found a workaround to the "state claims as puppet" dilemma
Adding a specific add_state_claim call to Egypt's main country file (history\countries\EGY - Egypt.txt) for the given state registered the claims even as a puppet state

What are the best countries in New Ways mod?
So this one's very spesific. I've been making this total conversion mod for like a month. Its pretty good and has like really little bugs. But one accured today and it might broke the whole project.
Mod works totally fine at all of my friends' computers. But when I open it, loading tips won't work, just one ideology which is communism converted to "nomad" also won't work. Lastly, idology modifiers like "fascism_drift" localisation also won't work. When I have unfinished things I cannot continue to work and this little bug might cause serious problems in the future so I REALLY need help.
I tried deleting the game then loading the mod. Vice versa. I deleted both then loaded. I loaded the working versions from my firends' pc's. I deleted user cashe at the launcher start. I went back to older versions. NONE works. I mean, I don't know if you can help me but here I am guys
That sounds like a very vague description of a very specific problem
Did you check the last few things you edited? You may have put a syntax error in just the wrong area, throwing the entire file into disarray
Is there any error log?
If my logic is true, the problem should appear in other computers too right? But its just me and because of that I didn't put that much effort to understand that kind of part. If it was a recent edit error, previous versions shouldn't have it but they appear at older versions too
Have you checked your \Paradox Interactive\Hearts of Iron IV\ folder? Sometimes when editing maps (and maybe other things I don't know) it creates folders and files that the game always tries to read, no matter what mod is active
If any of these temp files are still there, it could be affecting how your game loads
Are they redownloaded when I delete and re download the game

That's a folder that doesn't exist in the steam directory, so no, they wouldn't be affected

You could try deleting that entire folder except for the mod folder, then restarting the game, see if that does anything

When you say they work at other computers, do you mean that you send the contents of the mod folder to another computer, or are those other computers subscribed to the mod through the workshop or wherever?
I sent the mod manually and they played it. These localisations worked at their pcs

All I can say right now:
A) Reset your computer. Who knows, maybe it just needs a restart?
B) Copy the Hearts of Iron IV folders (steam folder and documents folder) from those other computers to yours, see if that gets you the right setup.
I restarted it several times but maybe a hard reset might do the trick

The top assigns a country its UI color and what generic portrait set it generates for that nation
The bottom assigns an individual state its population count, buildings, cores, claims, who controls it at game start, etc.
I've been looking at the code for the molotov-ribbentrop pact for a while now (events/Germany.txt) but can't seem to find the part where the the USSR annexes east poland. It seems like it has to do something with MR_pact_transfer_state_effect = yes but that's the furthest I've come.
Does anyone know where the code continues and transfers the states?

Where in the vanilla game files is the japan-china war started? im trying to prevent that war from starting for my mod but i cannot find where its even initiated
On historical, Japan finishes the Marco Polo Bridge Incident focus (JAP_intervene_in_china in common\national_focus\japan.txt), which sends an event of the same name to China (china.1 in events\China.txt) where National China decides how to respond. If they choose option 1, Japan then gets an event (japan.1 in events\Japan.txt) where they receive their war goal against China

You could alter ai_chance in China's event to force the AI to take the decision that cedes territory to Japan instead of preparing for war
Alr, i just copied the japan history file and removed the focuses for that so no more war which worked

I've been working on my own little special project for a couple of months now, which im slowly making progress toward it, but for some reason it just decided to stop working, Im working on new states for most balkan nations, And when it comes to greece, when i try to add cores to the newly added states for some reason half of the states work just fine but some also don't work at all.
and for some reason it confuses state 818 with state 918.
