I peaked a long time ago at 2.9k and left for a while. I recently got back and have found I dropped a huge amount

I have been trying to find a better close game than this but this one was just too close (its 26 minutes long, definitely gets way more intense at the end so probably just care about the end part)

I am curious what things I can improve that I assume I just lost over the years. I know this wasn't my best playing, however I think it is well representative of me under pressure

I am "AgentSix"

Thanks! Sorry I was so late to reply!
Like you said it was kinda general but I think it is what I needed to hear. The examples of "stay behind cover here" made a lot of sense, especially that time on the point where I was just out in the open and got killed by soldier. That makes sense how that positioning would still allow me to heal but I would have stayed alive

I think I will return to this again after watching the videos you recommended and hopefully I start to see the positioning better, you did a good job of explaining things so should be helpful even with several rewatches

And yea that was kinda a meme with killing the mercy and I knew I wouldn't kill her, Im not that good with the glock lol

Question about damage boosting, do you know if the damage is amplified when it is released? or when it hits? ie if rein firestrikes then do I need to hold damage amp while the projectile flies?

damage boost applies to projectiles as they are fired. for example, a damage boosted pharah rocket will do more damage, but if phara already fired rockets and you damage boost her only as they hit it won’t do anything. (you only need to damage boost fire strike while he fires, you can disconnect and do whatever else before it actually hits

#

they actually changed it a while back, it used to be the other way around

#

also i just watched this video last night https://youtu.be/K3lnifK-cmo and 2 things (sorry i don’t have timestamps) i thought were interesting were

  1. the “dinner dash” play style is pretty rewarding - imagine you are a server at a restraunt and you have to wait tables and check up on everyone every few seconds. this means like dashing around the place, healing up a target and maybe damage boosting someone in a 1v1, then flying back etc.
  2. the mercy players basically all agreed that the most important thing about mastering mercy was nailing the movement and positioning. there is a lot of intricacies with her kit and you can use a mercy trainer workshop mode if you are interested in that

they also kinda talked about the “healbot” playstyle i mentioned where you are mostly just healing and they said how it’s not terribly interesting or effective. they said you are most effective when every player on your team feels like they were being pocketed - this means you were constantly monitoring their needs. i think evolving your game sense and awareness and trying to get a sense of what is happening as a whole would really round out your play style as that would lead to better positioning and rapid pocketing

#

but take it slow that’s a lot of information, i think just work on what you mentioned to begin and then you can try to tackle some tech and different playstyles when you are comfortable :]

#

eveea also said that ult tracking (knowing when the enemy has ults) instantly boosts you 500 sr. i personally don’t know if it’s that simple but i’m personally very good at tracking ults and it does help a lot. most that knowledge for me comes from yeah a lot of playtime but mostly just being like “hey they’ve had soldier/rein for 2 minutes and no visor/shatter, i’m gonna let my team know and play around it cuz they probably have it”

#

not to overload you with information but i also want to recommend those 3 videos i mentioned in the vod review if you have time. also all 4 ppl in the 3 hr video have mercy related youtube channels

I will see how much of that I can watch, I have been watching Niadra's stuff and used their trainer to get the super jump finally! so that was cool
although I cant watch for long, their rapid movements give me motion sickness lol
is there a particular mercy trainer you would recommend? the results I get are just about the super jump trainer

#

It is crazy how much effort goes into constantly switching, I will try the waiting tables playstyle, I don't know if the people at this rank keep line of sight well enough to do that, but I will try atleast!

#

Ah well that would be cool if I could do that, but I don't expect that I will ever be able to keep track of ults like that, I am just to absent minded lol
