I’ll take a look at this.
Are you DaBruddaBear?
You didn't include an in-game name
Yes
I’ll be able to look tonight.
Ok thanks
@nocturne vector Doing your review live rn, can upload the vod clip afterwards.
My VOD didn't save on Twitch, so I'll have to type things here. I won't have screenshots, but I'll be able to share your core mistakes
Ok
Your problems largely stem from not using the scout, setup, and engage method of playing Ball. You waste a lot of time on a hero that is defined by his superior uptime relative to most other tanks.
Watch the very first fight of the replay.
Early on, you decide to play on the point when you should be setting up to engage on the enemy backline. There's very little that you can do to the Rein, but you neverthelesss tunnel in on him as the threat. As a tank, it is your job to challenge/secure space as well as snuff out what your team is struggling with. Given that the Rein is attempting to W + M1 onto your team, you can limit the amount of time he can spend playing aggressively by challenging his resources, not the Rein directly.
You want to play to boop either away or into your team as well as to the side. These displacements, when coupled with Piledriver, allows you to displace people into the open and hold them there while you and others shoot them. Against a Rein comp, you will likely boop people away from cover and away from your team. Against a dive comp? You may choose to boop people into the team and force them deeper than they originally intended.
Your Adaptive Shield usage is also panicky and is severely limiting your uptime. You want to use your shields earlier against a high cc comp, as you will likely be stunned before you even have a chance to press E. Against a brawlier comp like this (and there were two CC abilities that you should have been aware of - Ice Wall and Sleep Dart), you can afford to save your shields until later. Think of them like Winston's bubble - would you really hard engage without it?
I would also recommend looking at the tank less overall. You really should challenge the tank mostly when there's a reason to do so - in many cases, you default to attempting to kill the tank versus accomplishing more effective means of taking space. At one point, a Mercy flies past you and manages to keep the Rein alive as you shoot only him.
Look at who you should challenge, who you should displace when they're taking an aggressive position, etc. and operate from there. Take your time to develop your fundamentals with the above information. You'll be able to take these skills and apply them to any tank.
@nocturne vector
Thanks alot so what Im getting is
- Use boop more often
- never attack the tank unless they have very little resources resulting in being able to kill them
-take a second to think of when to use adaptive shields
-dont play point during downtime setup is key
-Track abilities that are absolutely detrimental to my character and engage when these abilities are on cool down
I've actually been trying to implement most of these in my games already but like most I get tunnel vision and sometimes panic resulting me to either get killed, feeding hard ,or run into a wall
Ding ding ding, you’ve got it
slow down and focus on working these into your play until they’re natural
don’t force it
Alright TYSM no more questions from me
no prob, diamond will be easy for you
