I use it a lot for agon ztones blocks, but some tools need dyes, and you can use it on bags, on kitchen and other things, but it's mostly decorative.
But there is a food you will like to use, look for rainbow bacon, it gives you a lot of saturation and it's easy to make

Not infinite, but with a lot of saturation you kinda forget to eat, I don't have the healer axe until now and for me it's better this way because if you keep yout nutrition high, you get extra hearts(beside the fixed ones you get for different kind of foods) and buffs
About the mortars, use mortars to make flint, it will get 1 gravel for 1 flint and things get better

you can export the minecraft world and then manually insert it in your saves
although im not too certain if the transition would go smoothly since youre changing launchers
but make sure you are using the same modpack version as the one you were using
otherwise youll run into problems when trying to transfer the world

It's up to you rlly. I wanted to play solo cause i wanted more control over my world
something you can do is start a solo world and if you get demotivated you could turn it into a server and ask people to join
