Requirements:
- Glider (preferably, not required)
- Twilight Forest
- Torches (unless you have other methods of seeing in darkness)
- Any building blocks
- Water Bucket (If you're deaf or not sure)
- Crucible from Thaumcraft (optional)
First in Twilight Forest find one of these mounds (first image). They are semi-rare to find but easy If you have a glider or other means of fast air transport.
Then go to the top and start digging down but be careful, there are going to be mobs and potentially infernals inside, so make sure to listen to sounds, If you hear them, you are close, so stop digging straight down and instead make a 1x2 hole next to you, then dig down and look If Its safe to jump down.
When you finally break through, place water, then make a platform and make sure skeletons don't hit you. Take the water and start slowly bridging towards the ore you want to mine. In some cases when digging down you will see ore, that means you're in and just dig horizontally till you mine through the ore spike.
The ores that are found in these mounds are:
- Coal (coal vein is better, no sense for mining it here)
- Iron
- Gold (very useful, since gold veins don't have much of them)
- Lapis (kinda useless, or you're too lazy to make distilled water for coolant I guess)
- Redstone (also kinda useless, unless you're somehow running low on it)
- Glowstone (not an ore, but still found there)
Now, this is another tip, there is a faster, less time and power consuming method of getting more ore out of your ore than macerator, Crucible. You want to first research in Alchemy tab Metal Purification, then every other one connected to it and optionally cinnabar purification in Witching Gadgets (you can also do purification perfection, but that's taboo, so on your own risk).
To purify one Iron Ore you need: 1 Silverwood log, 1 Cobblestone, 1 Tin Ingot.
To purify one Gold Ore you need: 1 Cobblestone, 2 Silverwood log, 1 Tin Ingot.
After purification, you can either smelt them to get 4 ingots in total, or in smeltery for 6!
