Applicable Tier: HV+
Version: 2.2.8 [NERFED AS OF 2.2.10 QUEST IS NO LONGER REPEATABLE]
After you unlock the quest to get to the end and kill the dragon in HV, you unlock a repeatable quest to kill the chaos dragon every 12h which rewards you with 5 IV lootbags.

How to actually kill the chaos dragon?
Required Items:

Mob farm for XP
Thaumostatic Harness
Thaumostatic Girdle
Tinker's Crossbow (I'm using the recommended Vanadiumsteel/energetic alloy crossbow and bolts from the wiki; doesn't matter what you use although it is very preferable that it can 1 shot the end crystals that protect him)
Dezil's Marshmallow (technically not required but makes you need A LOT less XP)
Full set of Last Stand armor

With the Dezil's Marshmallow blocking all attacks except for the armor piercing one, you can get away with ~200 levels of xp and last stand to kill the chaos dragon.

Dezil's Marshmallow: obtainable from twilight forest hills when your in HV or later on in dungeons on other planets
Last Stand can be obtained by spam enchanting books with the xp you get from the mob farm

HELPFUL ADITIONS:

Glider: helps get you to dragon 10k blocks away without eating up through your jars of potentia (or just bring extra potentia jars)
Spatial Dash Gem: alongside the glider, your able to travel infinitely in the end without the need of a jetpack (i would not attempt to fight the dragon without a jet pack)

For just getting to the Chaos Dragon, you can use the Copter Pack.

Sounds like a tierskip, as you can get IV bags soon after you reach HV. Nerf incoming!

You can also renewably get Dezil's Marshmallow using Dessert lootbags (automate some crop required in the Chef Training quest, then trade fast food bags to slow food to haute cuisine to dessert lootbags)

Flight potions are pretty good for flight

Primordial armor set to terra should also reduce the xp required for last stand tremendously. It basically constantly applies instant health, and it also claims "increased protection against attacks that would normally penetrate your armor". The Aer setting reflects projectiles. Not sure if either works against the chaos guardian, but I would set 1 to Aer and 1-3 to Terra, and the stupid fast Regen will reduce xp needed if nothing else

i've actually tested this with primordial armor, 3 pieces of primordial armor (so u can still put on ur jetpack) set to terra is enough for u to take 0 damage since it reduces damage from attacks that bypass armor. However, you can't craft primordial armor before IV since all parts other than the boot use Polybenzimidazole plates

and personally if im not having the full set on to prevent damage and using xp to live anyways, i much rather use boots of the voidwalker with haste 4 to be able to fly at very fast speeds

You can make it at EV with LCRs or get the requisite shadow armor from magic grandmaster loot bags even at IV, but yeah it is quite expensive either way

the xp is a non issue tbh, takes < 1 day to get over 200 levels from a simple mob farm

pro tip: If you add educational V to your spikes you will be drowning in XP. I have thousands and thousands of levels

I killed two yesterday with full prot 5 last stand 2 primordial armor, even once the marshmallow wore off I took no damage. I can't really oversell primordial armor. You'll also want carbon + vanadium steel/palladium/adamantium bolts for your crossbow depending on your tech level. If you can't enchant the lootbags though you'll get a whole lot of korp®

Yea but primordial armor is IV unless u get its base parts from loot bags

Ur invincible with 3 parts put on terra

Also for the loot bag enchanting, u just start with opening until u get motors or anything that disassembles into motors

And then u can disassemble them with your hv or whatever tier disassembler to get fortune loot bags
