Hi, I'm on a windows computer and I've just bought the game, I've tried joining my friends through steam, launching from steam and hosting, and even connecting via a lobby code but it never shows any signs of working, no loading screens or anything, when I try joining via steam it displays a brief message of joining xxxxx's game but that's it, otherwise local works fine and I don't seem to have internet issues. I've restarted steam, my pc and the game separately and none of these appear to fix the issue. Is there something I am doing wrong or something I can do to fix this?

I have the same problem as the rest. Try restarting and updating the PC, restarting steam, checking the integrity of the game files, uninstalling the game, changing the disk, and even updating the PC drivers. AND NOTHING worked for me.
And i cannot create a party, idk what is this problem.
i hope this will be fix, because we are not the only one affected

I saw that antivirus or firewalls were the problem but that was a long time ago, I recently installed vanguard, I don't know if it has anything to do with it given your last interactions
I don’t have any anti-viruses installed and I have cleared the firewall and reset the windows security settings to default, I’ve also tried everything from this post https://cleverendeavourgames.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/32000028905-i-can-t-play-online
But I can’t seem to fix the issue, it also cannot auto detect my region and I think it has something to do with that after reading the logs. But I do have vanguard installed since I play riot games pretty regularly so I will try uninstalling that and seeing if it works, if it does I guess I have a longer process to switch games now

i dont know if theyve been like, ignoring it on purpose persay, but there have been old bug reports about it that never got addressed
they might not have ever seen them or figured out how to deal with it
I just installed it on my laptop and it no longer is broken but only on my laptop, it still doesnt work on my pc
my laptop is relatively clean, i play no games on it and all it has are my applications for my education, things like 3D modeling software, chrome (where I'm typing this from), and the Microsoft suite. Does your laptop have other games installed on it or some other anti cheats? Because I'm pretty sure its a connection issue where some firewall or anti cheat is preventing it from connecting to the servers, as on my PC it never auto detects my region so it fails at letting me create a lobby, but it was able to detect my region on my laptop.

Will I always have to use a VPN now? It worked fine for me on Friday and now my online is not working. But for some reason it's working for my friends.
yep you'll have to always use a vpn to play online, no clue why, but yeah
hopefully the issue will get resolved

Our developers are working on it, but I don't have a solution other than using a VPN as other players have discussed. Hopefully we have a better idea this week!

Hey @minor swan @covert light @digital pier, we have a new Steam beta branch that we think will solve your connection problems. Here's how you access it:
- To join the Steam beta branch, right-click Ultimate Chicken Horse in the Steam Library. Go to properties, open the "Betas" tab and select "online-fixes" from the dropdown menu.
- Restart your Steam if the game doesn't update automatically.
- Once you do that, please let us know if this fixes your online issues.
