Gain -> Distortion, the "electric guitar" sound
Volume -> Loudness. Does not affect distortion*
Bass -> Lower frequencies, bass.
Mids -> Fullness and honkyness
Treble -> High frequencies, how clear it sounds depends on how high treble is
