#Yamaha Pacifica or something more "professional"?

Look I been playing guitar for a little over a year now, but mostly played on my Yamaha C40. I also have a stratocaster (Donner Standard Series from a 120€ starter pack) but I thought about playing my electric more often. Well, it sounds pretty okay but my amp is shit and the guitar doesnt really feel good to me.

I watched some videos and reviews and saw that the yamaha pacifica is a pretty good guitar, would it be a good idea to buy it or should I look into something more expensive/proffesional.

My guitar skills aren't the best but I have been told by a guy that played in a band they're pretty decent considering I only play for a year.

For the amps I thought about BOSS Katana gen 3 or MK-II but I didnt really inform myself about that yet.

I also don't just play one genre, so a guitar with versatile tone (like the yamaha pacifica) would be great.

Well there is literally a Pacifica "professional" model 😄

#

The pacifica 012 and 112 are popular for beginners but you can check out the 311, 611 or 612

I would get the Yamaha Pacifica. They’re great guitars and them having both single coils and a hum bucker gives you a wide range of tones. They’re very easy to play too. Which Pacifica are you looking at? If you get anything from the new line of Pacificas(standard plus or professional) maybe even the 611 or 612 it’ll be great for profesional recording. A lower end Pacifica is still great, but the pickups and overall quality won’t match what you get buying a more expensive model

@reef folio I think that the donner with a decent setup and maybe some light fretwork could play like butter ...then you'll have more budget left for something like a Katana

While the Pacifica is pretty decent, there are a couple of very good Ibanez you could look into.
I would recommend the S Series.
The S520 or 521 are excellent at the price range.
the S521 doesn't have a trem, but sounds and plays bloody fantastic for instance.

If you're in Europe, you can also look into Harley Benton Guitars, which are usually a great value for the price.

@reef folio, The reality is, truly good guitars cost real money. Your Pacifica, the Ibanez S series, and Squier models are decent for what they cost, but they’re still entry-level instruments. If you’re serious about actually learning and progressing, they’re built with cheaper components and obvious compromises. And since you already have a Yamaha C40 and a Donner Standard Series Strat, you’re not exactly missing out on that tier. I’m happy to help — I just wanted to level with you about what you’re really getting at this price point.

i like ibanez dont get me wrong but a yamaha 112 shits on the gio line all day, and so does the 311 and 612 on the standard line and iron label respectively, up until mij

#

their qc recently is in the gutter for indo

#

@reef folio

#

only gripe i have with yamaha is that they aren't shielded up until 611. this doesn't affect the humbucker but it does the p90 and single coils so you will have to noise gate it harder

# mossy stump i dont think you can compare any pacifica to entry level or even standard line i...

I'm with you on the Gio... it's pretty crap these days.
Yes, it is true that higher priced guitars usually tend to be better in general, but price alone is not the sole determining factor.

In my collection, I have an Ibanez S-Series, a PRS, as well as a customized higher-prized Schecter. I'm playing gigs with all of them and they perform equally well with a bit of adjusting and a proper setup.
I love my Schecter, the PRS, but also love playing the Ibanez, and at gigs, the audience doesn't care as long as the show is good.

I've played cheaper guitars (like the Ibanez S-series) or Epiphone Pauls, or even Harley Benton, which performed well above their price-point. I've also played very expensive guitars that were absolutely great, but not worth thousands of dollars more IMO.

Alright people I just did the thing with the guitar you should do before playing it (action, neckbend etc) and now my guitar sounds better than ever I think I dont need a new one

I rest my case... a good setup is very important to playability... 👍 😎

and dropped their quality standards along with specs that arent listed on the spec sheet

#

i've done a bit of research into this and the trend is looking like ibanez is looking to grab every penny and disregard their product for indonesian made stuff

#

if you bought an rg or s standard before that year, the chances are they would've been better

# reef folio I was looking at 012 or 112. My budget's pretty low so yk

Those are great guitars, price considered. I don’t believe you can get a guitar that feels like a “professional” guitar without paying at least 1000 dollars, If I were you-, I’d go look on Facebook marketplace or local shops for used pacificas, and pay someone to set it up so it plays real nice. When you desire something better, you can try reselling the guitar for what you paid for it, or a small loss, I have a cheap squire Strat I picked up a year ago to start on and I’ve swapped the pickups on it and got it setup, I still play it even though I have guitars much more expensive

@snow pulsar @cobalt timber @plush scaffold @mossy stump would you guys recommend any budget amps? Preferably not exceeding 300€ but definitely not more than 500€.
I was looking at the BOSS Katana Gen 3 and BOSS Mk-II. Are they any good? I'd like to have one that isnt made for just one genre but sounds great playing whatever. Wait no, thats what pedals are for, right? I'm clueless about electric guitars my bad hahaha

mossy stump
#

yes good modeler amp for versatile sound

#

doesnt "need" pedals since you can get whatever sound you want with software and settings

#

although for the price you can get mk3 no?
