#What Guitar To Buy

Any guitar can be grunge. Let us know what amp you're running and what guitar you currently have
One of the notable parts of Nirvana's iconic sound was their pedalboard
For instance, Kurt Cobain used a ProCo Rat 2 pedal
The RAT was developed in the basement of the ProCo factory in Michigan, USA in 1978. “Yes, there were literally rats down there” says creator Scott Burnham. He stumbled upon the unique sound when he attached the wrong resistor to an in-progress distortion machine. From there, during the 1980s, the RAT took over the guitar
You can read about it here
I have a PRS guitar and a marshal amp
Sounds like a solid platform
How many watts is your amplifier?
Is it a big one?
Yes
Heres a pic of my equipment that i took when i first got it (ignore the album)
Yeah, that's solid
Ok cool
I'd suggest you to read the article I've sent you and it might give you a good idea on what you really want
(Pedals would be my answer)
Alr thank you
🙏
There's also demos on youtube
Nirvana is the quintessential sound and feeling of 90s grunge. Kurt Cobain and the band gave voice to the frustration and disillusion of an entire generation of teens and young adults. Maybe more than the lyrics, the distorted, huge, aggressive tones embodied these emotions. We all know Kurt used a BOSS DS-1, and people have been gear chasing hi...
Here's a good one
You might not even need pedals if you utilise the channel switching on that amp
Or that
KISS principle
Simple as possible
Remember that nirvana's sound is going through a huge amount of processing in studio
I support that mindset
And chasing it might sound appealing but will be ultimately futile
For a start, you don't have the exact speakers, amp and sheer volume level he used to record the stuff if that makes sense
There's this guy on YouTube who nirvana tone chases for like videos and it cost him an obscene amount of money and time
Not to try to kill your dreams (you should continue to dream anf want to do stuff like this) but go into it with a realistic mindset
I.e. with good technique and the distortion channel you will have a great sound totally appropriate for playing nirvana songs
But it won't and will never be identical
Does that make sense @restive kiln
