I need to know how to get Pete Loeffler's fuzzy distortion tone, what amp profile should i use on my multieffects?

First off those are my 2 favourite chevelle songs and the best tones so your taste is amazing

#

2nd off, its actually really simple, as someone already said, a lot of that tone is a fuzz or something high gain around the bass, the guitar track itself is actually super teethy and "trebly"

#

It's a very modern, skin tight leathery sound, it does not sag or decay much at all, which means you need a setting that can replicate preamp saturation, NOT poweramp saturation

#

I don't know what gear you have, but if you're working with presets, look for something Marshall JCM 800 (NOT PLEXI/JTM) or Something Mesa Boogie Dual/Triple Rectifier.

#

You're gonna want the treble set pretty high, the tone is not exactly bright but in this case the "brightness" would come from upper mids and stuff which makes it sound very nasally and forward which you wanna avoid, (althought the JCM800 is defo very bright)

#

If you're recording, try double layering it, and add a fuzz around your bass

#

Also.. VERY LITTLE REVERB

#

You need to hear the teeth and skin tight snarl of every single chord

#

But srsly those are literally my 2 fav songs from Chevelle.. what a coincidence
