Im about to be buying a new guitar, lost all my gear a year or so ago, Im in between a 1990 charvel jackson SDK-085 and a Jackson Sl2MJ, if i get the charvel, i was going to replace the tuners, pickups and put a Lockmeister 6 on it. Can i get your opinions on which would be the better buy ? Also gonna get a mesa boogie mk 5 35 as well. Both guitars are pretty much mint

The Charvel would have my preference .... Do they both have a 1000 FR ?

The Sl2mj has a gotoh 1996t
which probably is slightly better
the charvel has a fr102
which is just a licensed version

charvel has jumbowire frets and sl2 has stainless steel.

Ill probably get the charvel down the road, as a gift to my father, his grandad bought him one when he was 14.
