So, as mentioned in the title, I cant really afford to buy an amp right now, and the used-guitar-gear maket in my county isnt huge. I was thinking of getting an amp interface (cost<$55) and plugging it into my PC and making do with it for a while.
Is this a decent approach and would you guys recommend it?

Thanks in advance

What interface can you get with 55 bucks?

55 Dollars (assuming you mean US) is not a lot. The only thing that comes to mind which is even remotely close to that is the Sonicake Pocketmaster, which does act as an interface as well.

It's a tiny multiFX/modeler unit you can get for around 60 US Dollars.

For the price is not, bad, but if I were you, I'd save up some money and get something a bit better in terms of sound/features/usability.

But for about 60 bucks, it's not a bad unit and will do just about everything you'd want for that price range.

Don't know much about behringer but yeah sure it will be better

Dolphin is also on that price range apparently

#

But if you save like another 30-40 bucks you can get a uses focusrite

Add 15$ for cheap IEMs if you don't have headphones yet

paper elm
#

works perfectly fine for the price

lofty lark
paper elm
#

because with focusrite and ua it comes with their own panel

lofty lark
#

I've been using asio4all

paper elm
#

works way better than asio4all

#

focusrite has their own version

lofty lark
#

How do i not know this

#

Can you send link

paper elm
lofty lark
timber shale

It should be a whole custom ASIO driver

paper elm
lofty lark
#

How do i set it up

paper elm
#

wdym you just uninstall asio4all and click download

timber shale
#

I don't have a focusrite but usually you install the drivers and then you can select their ASIO driver whereever you're asked to select a driver

lofty lark
#

Do i download the legacy or just the focusrite control @paper elm

paper elm
#

which one do you have

lofty lark
paper elm
#

the control one

timber shale
#

"Legacy" is normally a synonym for "old/outdated version"

lofty lark
#

Ah

#

Thunderbolt or USB @paper elm

paper elm
#

wdym

lofty lark
paper elm
#

i mean do you have it plugged into thunderbolt or usb lol

lofty lark
#

oh

#

Right

#

Thanks

#

Is 24.9 ms at 256 48k normal? @paper elm

paper elm
#

no thats kinda high but it has to do with your pc

#

i get 8ms at 256

lofty lark
#

I swear it was 5ms before idk why it's so high now that i checked it

#

My focusrite control Legit just stopped working and not detecting device anymore @paper elm

paper elm
#

broo wdym stopped working what am i supposed to do about that

#

clearly you did something cause tech doesnt stop out of the blue

paper elm
#

lofty lark
#

The app doesn't detect my focusrite anymore

#

It ain't old

paper elm
lofty lark
#

Ain't working

paper elm
#

lofty lark
#

Not working still but thanks anyway, i did lower my buffer size to 160 tho @paper elm

#

paper elm

#

If i can get to 64 without crackling that'll be great

#

Tho tbh latency isn't a problem that I've noticed, apparently

#

What's ur cpu @paper elm

grand oyster
viral hearth
#

it might genuinely just be ur cpu

#

get a better cpu

#

maybe a i5 10th gen if ur motherboard supports, lmk what cpu u have rn

lofty lark
#

And i have a laptop so that's not an option

viral hearth
#

ah

#

that might be why

paper elm
#

recommend him an amp for 50$ otherwise

paper elm

lofty lark
#

So i should be able to push it to 64 without problems

#

As long as I don't stack too much plugins

echo quiver
#

@onyx tulip u can get the scarlet solo for 70 bucks and u can get it to have nearly 0 noticeable input delay

onyx tulip

#

Scarlett is an interface ...katana mini is an amp

#

In terms of versatility a Scarlett is way better

paper elm
lofty lark
paper elm
#

slightly higher

#

it's like a 3x difference

#

2 core cpu with 15 watts vs 6 core 65 watts

viral hearth
#

urs is an i3

#

he proly has a ryzen 5

#

which is equivalent to something like an i5

#

specifically like 13th gen i5

#

i3 is dogshit

paper elm
#

its not about the cpu family, the generation matters more

#

an i3 14100 will destroy an i5 9600

#

same goes if you have an i7 4790

#

doesnt help that its a laptop for an already entry line cpu

viral hearth
#

i3 is not great for music recording from experience

#

i used to have a 13th gen i3

#

horrendous

#

it was okay for gaming but producing no

#

with i5 - i9 you can run more plugins at the same time sooo much bnetter
