yeah but its quite a bit more
yeah but is mexican craftsmanship really better than japanese
Vola guitars
not a thing locally and shipping is like 150$
locally as in europe
🤷 SOL then I guess
beggars cant be choosers
yeah i dont think thats how that quote works
people that spend money cant be choosers?
yeah you cant complain that the guitar is made in japan when your price limit is 1k
not a ton of MIJ options in that range
if ibanez can do it so can other companies
cool well dont hold your breath
bro might be the perfect consumer
unless you wanna buy used
what the fuck do you want me to say exactly? doesnt matter what they should do, they dont
ibanez has 1 singlular MIJ line priced at 1k
and thats the whole draw, is its the cheapest possible MIJ
its an outlier
they do have a mij series that's $800~ but they only sell those domestically
if you bought one it's gonna total over $1k shipping/taxes/duty fees included
yeah probably gonna get a genesis and cope with the floyd even though i would likely change tunings daily
dont i have to make extra holes in the body for an l bracket?
yes small ones
that is the price to pay for wanting to go through different tunings on a double locking trem
Just get the Charvel
They’re a bit cheaper in Europe anyway
I got mine for £675 and it’s great
"bUt Is MeXiCaN cRaFtSmAnShIp ReAlLy BeTtEr ThAn JaPaNeSe?"
Bro get the charvel
Youd be so much happier with it since you change tunings daily lol
this is ocming from a guy who uses floyds
changing tunings is atrocious
especially if ur gonna do it everyday
ur gonna spend most of ur time setting up ur guitar for that tuning instead of playing the guitar
especially if its a drastic change
just get a hardtail
or if u want bang for ur buck
get a FGN guitar
they're the factory that makes ibanez's prestige line
or you could look at used
Honestly the charvel is really good
craftsmanship is pretty good too
fgn also has a 1-2 'metal' shaped guitars if that's something op wants
The only reason why is because the genesis isnt really specd out
like the rg550
gotoh tuners and the trem are the only like specd out thing
other than that, the body is basswood, maple neck
yo can i get some recc's on my post? i have a slightly higher budget than 1k
non stainless steel frets
stock pickups arent that great imo
it doesnt even have a case
basic colors for the finish, ur mostly paying for the craftsmanship, the tuners and the trem
Looking at your needs tho, I would 100% get the charvel
trust me when you're changing tunings everyday on a double locking trem ur gonna start regretting it
obligatory Cort recommendation
and im assuming the last thing you wanna do is drill holes into your brand new guitar
yeah
Cort is so goated for the price
yeah i get you guys and i would not want to drill holes or even use the trem for that matter but i wanted to go with something i know will arrive flawless. with indo or china you always gotta gamble a bit and will have to polish the frets yourself after or address any other issues
anyhow thomann is really great on the return anyway so ill try it for a week and try to mess with the floyd and see if i keep it. if not ima get a charvel or some nice specs kramers i found
the thing is it was exactly 1k and i see they're going for quite a bit more in places and locally so i thought i'd just snag it
Not as much as a gamble with the indos or mexicans imo compared to china
And the RG550 might not come flawless
Youll still probably have to set it up
Plus it mightve been sitting wherever thomann is keeling them for a long time
you're right about being uncertain where thomann kept them but indonesia truly is a gamble nowadays. maybe not in their super premium factory but there's no way to check what kind of priority they gave to a specific line
i know people complain about the omen elite that it has uneven frets and it's inexcusable imo
