You mean a modeler ... In that price range you have the Nux mg30 or the valeton GP200
There's some more but they're not really that good
Except maybe the Sonicale Matribox 2 / pro
this is the right one?
and are there any drawbacks?
The stock IRs Arent the best ... Bit they are replaceable
But for the rest it's a solid unit ...can do direct recording of the onboard effects as well as DI ... So you can record both at the same time
jeez thats awesome. so i can just record my "usual tone" whilst having the ability to manipulate it however i want afterwards?
and the built in fx pedals should be good right?
I think at least... @willow forge can you record both DI and processed tone simultaneously with the MG30 ? Or only DI or processed ?
Some have that ... Could be that it can only do either a DI or the processed tones
Both are valid options of course
and i assume i can just have my daw running and songsterr running at the same time and i can just, play into my headphones?
cuz my living situation doesnt allow me to plug into earbuds and play my amp out loud, so it'd be really nice if i could just play live into my earbuds
If you can plug headphones directly into the unit for quiet practice
Without a DAW
oh i can just plug it into the mg30? no need for daw unless i wanna record?
Yes
nice, that would clear up some cpu juice for my pc
You could also plug it into anything with an aux for some volume ...even your car if you can power the unit
i can plug it into a speaker?
i notice the valeton is around $300. is it significantly better or should i just choose the nux?
It has the ability to load NAM captures
So that's a big plus ...adds tons of tonal options
hm i might just get that then
Both are great units
what are NAM captures
Amp/rig/effect snapshots .. like what the quad cortex has
You can download lots of them for free
"snapshots" so they are like presets?
so the captures just copy the sound of another rig?
Or only the amp
and would this feature play a role in a live setting?
So you basically load a 5150 stealth capture on it and BOOM ... You now have a 5150 model in your modeler
If you want to play some amp that the unit itself doesn't have you can add it ...so yes .. you can totally use that live
hm seems like something really fun to play around with once i get my hands on it
i mainly want something like this because i literally dont have any other pedals other than the built in overdrive on my amp
reverb and chorus are my favorites
Fot sure... You can run NAM as a plugin too so you could do the same thing in your DAW if you record DIn
You won't even need the overdrive in your amp
You can literally load a NAM capture of a Klon into the device and use that
Learn to Google my friend ... Klon is a very sought-after OD pedal, costing 1000s
holy smokestacks
this will be a big money saver
and each of these metal buttons are to switch on/off the various effects? or am i wrong?
Captures can be hit and miss ... But there's tons of great ones ...also some paid ones
Or switching the whole preset ... They are completely programmable
oh nice
so i can just bust out a precise clean channel from a completely different distorted channel
nice
You can go from a boosted 5150 to a dumble with a sea of reverb and delay with a button press
YW
You can do both. You can configure it to send different signals to separate USB channels.
so simultaneously ?
that's brilliant
I don't know if the GP200 can do that too ... probably can
Nux mg30
valeton gp is okay but the sound quality is not as good as mg30 from my experience
very good for live gigs tho since theres more buttons
Yep, that’s why I keep recommending it for intermediate and advanced players. It really is a small studio in a box.
The GP-200 I’m not sure about, but given it’s a bit newer, I’d imagine it can do that as well - albeit not at 48, but rather 44 kHz, if I remember correctly.
Not a huge difference, but that gives the MG-30 a slight edge IMO.
I personally don’t care about NAM profiles though. If I did, I might possibly prefer the GP 200 perhaps, though I’m constantly surprised just how good the MG-30 sounds once you have it properly EQ’d.
so the mg 30 has better sound quality but less buttons and no nam captures?
Kind of. You do get two extra buttons with the included extra switch that comes with the MG-30.
So the only thing it doesn't have is NAM captures.
For me it's not that important at all, since I prefer finding my own sounds, but for someone who wants to emulate others' sounds, having NAM captures might be important.
Good choice. Can't go wrong with either. 🤘
u get an extra controller when u get the mg 30
this
nice
tre
tur
true*
both are rlly good
Oh, yours is black?? Mine is silver and has two little switches on the back.
oh thats not mine its just a goggle image
google*
i think the lighting in that photo made it look black
I think there might be two kinds...
ooh true
maybe
wait yeah
the text on that one is black
and the other one is white
Yep... I think they might be from different batches...
yeahh
Have you managed to find one already?
im prob gonna go with the valeton gp200. i have the money but im just rlly hesitant on getting it rn for some reason lol
That's actually a fantastic choice and what price is it going for on your end. Let me see if I can make you an offer that beats that
around $300USD used
Alright what if i make you a $240USD offer for the same thing?
which site is the transaction going to occur on?
i'm curious now
does an hx stomp have that?
PayPal goods and services
Nope ... They'll probably put something similar in the Stadium though
aw shame
I think their current lineup could easily have capturing added via firmware upgrade but they chose not to ... Hotone for instance added capturing and NAM like a year after release
To ALL their V2 models
maybe they will
I doubt that ... Why would anyone get the stadium then ?
why rob the players that don't have thousands for a stadium of a feature like that?
i understand if it was something that'd be absent on the cheaper models maybe
