#Next big event with prizes

another idea: we could have a battle of the bands, where bands have a given amount of time to produce a song, and then the server votes for the winner
i suppose that may fall under "simple songwriting contest"
no, because it's in the case of a prize to win for a single person
"Soloing over a backing track contest" sounds so boring to me, I mean sure there are very talented people but I'd like to see something more creative
such as?
More such as songwriting
Wow that's not a lot of votes, I repeat we have an upcoming event with prices
I didn't actually get a notification for the @ everyone 🤷♂️
But discord skips mentions for me sometimes
this one did, lol
whats the prize? ball of lint?
probably software
4 votes....
i mean hey 1 vote per 10k people thats not that bad
It just feel sad to fight to get prizes and such feedback
Worst case scenario staff will win it
i imagine that at least more people are gonna join the event even if they're not participating now
maybe you can take that lack of desired feedback as feedback and adjust accordingly. "no, it's these tens of thousands of people that are wrong."
what are you on about dude
there's literally an "other, please specify" option
should the lack of response be taken as the majority of the server saying that they dont want an event with prizes to to happen?
Don't worry tho, when the event launch, nobody will have to complain
I only found out just now, after seeing the notification in the news channel.
Btw, voted.🗳️
Maybe more people will wanna vote if they have a better idea of what the prize is and it's rough value
maybe just add the actual price in news or smthn
I ask which kind of event, not a commitment
I'm still not quite sure if your pings even reached all people, the second one reached me because I was already in the chat
I posted in #news etc if people mute the server I don't know
I think it should be like “show off a skill you struggle with”
how would you determine a winner?
Teams created sent to different VC to create something together, then all tracks submitted and winners share a prize of some kind.
just give the price to me, saves the hassle
There will be some voting don't worry, for now we are choosing the event typz
i suck at guitar, thought id try my luck
That's why I offered several event types
If I were to win and don't want it can I give it to another person?
yes
yeah u can give it to me
no worries
I actually have someone in mind who I might give it to
i know i mon yorui mind dont have to say it out loud
So, the votes led to "soloing over a backing track" contest
now I have to define how the winners will be selected
i suggest 1v1s and then the community votes for the winner
or smthn like first round 25 people, second round 20, third round 10, fourth round 5, fifth round 3, then final round 1v1
the only thing that bothers me is that rocksmith is a learning tool and giving prizes to the best players sounds a little paradoxal
age group solos contests?
over a backing track probably
cuz a 20 yro with 7-8 years of playing experience would definitely win to a 12 yro with 1-2 years of playing
so this sounds like giving a fair chance to everyone
(not that im 12yro or smth but js an example)
then there could be a community vote(as suggested by @coarse cedar to choose the better one)
each round
to me, a "fair chance for everyone" is everyone being given the same riff with the same conditions, at the end of the day age doesn't matter here, it's just experience
exactly what i said
but a 12 year old can't have the same experience can't beat a 25 year old with 12 year experience
...
why not
unless that kid is chinese 💀
cmon sense says a 12 year old can be way better than a person of any age by the simple virtue of the 12 year old being better
thats why its fair, nothing is stopping kids from being just as good or better than adults
sure there are life factors and all that, but how do you realistically accou t for that
find me that kid then...
find me a 12 year old guitarist better than Bernth
i'll accept my fate then
yeah that's what i meant
experience maters too...
Nah that's way too much
No weird extra steps like that
If there is a junior category and I ask for winner's id he can cheat
surely you've seen some online
but i dont really see how finding a single example would prove anything to you
thats literally all that matters, and the point is that one can get more musical experience in a year than someone else does in 5
it's not really a life experience thing
never seen one better than bernth
Please stop that convo, there are Asian kids that can outshred anyone, this is sterile, answer me rather
true lol
what 12 year old has an id card?
12 is forbidden on the server anyway
dont know where you're from but everyone has an id here
im the us most people dont have valid ID until they get their learners permit
plus making people show ID for a fuckin guitar competition is a tad overboard
agreed
school ids are a thing...
just said it as an example
huh...what is the minimum age then?
13 is minimum for being on discord
in theory it's 13 but the true rule it's according each country's regulation
ah alr
alr
still preparing it
👍
I received the prizes 🙂
