I am thinking of getting the standard 60s epiphone les paul but its got a 43mm nut width and i want a guitar that is slightly smaller than my current (25.5” 42mm nut)
Epi has the 24.75” scale which is perfect for my slighyly below average male hands, but i feel my 42mm current nut is quite wide as it is, 43mm might be too big and restrict me? But the mustang is a 24” and might feel too small, and also not built for soloing
How much does the nut width matter? Can anyone suggest help or like tell me how to find oout wht an ideal nut width would be for me cus idk if 43mm would cause problems
#Epiphone Les Paul or CV 60s Mustang?

I personally notice the difference between 24.75 scale and 25.5 more than the difference between nut sizes. I’ve also learned that hands can be very stretchy once practiced. I would consider the pickups in those guitars based on the sound you want too. I’ve got a lp and fender guitars and they’re a different feel but all very playable
I would say I have avg hands, slightly shorter fingers but larger palms
PRS guitars have a 25" scale length, another one to consider
Whats most comfortable for you? Seems we have similar hand shape
When I was first playing a lot I had a preference of Les Paul for my left hand, but as I’ve gotten older I’m a fender guy for sure as I love the aesthetic and sound and I’ve adapted to the scale well enough. The 24” scale would definitely feel easier in some ways but if you ever want to tune down it might be an issue, and it will have a different sound. What genre of stuff do you enjoy most or favorite players you want to emulate? That might guide you. The scale length actually adds to the sound a but, as the tension changes with the same note played on a different scale.
I play many types of rock, but im mostly interested in the ergonomics rather than the tone since i wont be performing any time soon
if rock primarily i'd probably go les paul for the pickups and if not performing than they are comfy seated
standing they can be kinda heavy
I’ll prolly go for the epi and then send it back if too big, which i see others with smaller playing fine on a 43
So i dount itll be an issue
And maybe eventually get both
Ya good plan I bet you’ll like it
Heard me,i have a CV 60s so i can tell you
The mustang it's a very good guitar for all style
I have this one
I get it because i play 30+ song of nirvana so.... I've get it
But it's very heavy
If it was me I’d get that but I already have a LP and I play lots of styles haha
so is the les Paul to be fair
I kick myself for not getting a Mexican fender duosonic sometimes was back that would have been similar. I just didn’t really have a need but it was like 250 bux or less
I’ve also got this tiesco shorter scale guitar I really need to fix
are you based in Uk or no?
Yes I am
what guitar are you looking for?
I might have something at a good price for you
Epi les paul standard 60s
Around 500
I’ve got a Gibson Les Paul that you could have a little more than 500
melody maker made in USA
with the case
it’s quite a thin neck which might be good for what you want
alternatively I think I might have some epi Les Paul’s but not sure what specs I can check though
Sorry bro, not interested in individual manufacturers
