Can someone help me get the Tony Iommi Live Tone please?

I have wanted this tone for such a long time, it's so heavy and meaty and is by far my favourite tone i've ever found. I've posted a couple of youtube links below that show exactly the type of thing im after, if someone could help me out i'd really appreciate it!! Let me know if theres any additional info you want me to provide, whilst I do like his earlier tones I'm looking for his more recent tones at shows where he downtunes. If I remember correctly most of this is either D standard or C#

Do you want his early sound like first couple albums? It’s actually an SG with p90 pickup through a Laney tube amp with treble booster. You actually get closer to the sound with a hot single coil bridge pickup haha

I really just want his more recent, live rig. I’ve honestly been searching for so long and i’m in no way technical in terms of setting up digital amps and software with pedals etc.. Really hasn’t been easy 😭

You can get a reasonable sound with just a marshal model and a guitar with a decent humbuckers too

Yeah to be honest i’ve got a HSS strat that’s got a beautiful crunch to it when i’m playing in the bridge pickup, im thinking if i can find a good software with some decent laney amps I should be able to get as close to it as possible. I’m not really sure where to go in terms of software for it, loads of people tell me loads of different things

Haven’t got a decent guitar with a single coil bridge unfortunately though

That’s ok he doesn’t use that anymore anyway, probably to cancel noise better. I haven’t used a ton of modeling in the box but I’ve used toon track and line 6 stuff and that’s all good

His tone is pretty foundational so honestly a lot of modern stuff sound like it haha

His original tone is the unique thing with the p90s

Any decent humbuckers for high gain + Marshall or Laney amp = profit

A lot of people hate on Tony's modern tone but i think its beautiful, especially in the videos I linked above. I'm just really trying to find a software where I can graft and replicate it as close as possible

he originally rewound his p90s to make them hotter. i've heard some of the recording was on neck pickup, and other similar bands like electric wizard do that too, but live he's always on bridge pickup, even in videos from the 70s, so idk

i think the sound is basically laney amp + Dallas rangemaster treble booster

coincidently it's the same pedal as brian may, which is funny as they've always been good friends so they discovered it simultaneously. the queen lead sound is rangemaster through cranked vox ac30

also although he has loose strings etc, he has really really good vibrato technique with power chords, which is pretty uncommon

and uses it constantly in rhythm stuff

I've tried it before but I never found the right IR for the sounds I was downloading for it, not sure where to even look for the right ones. Was using tone3000.com to download plugin files but some dont come with an IR

I haven’t tried it yet just was looking it up. I’ve used similar stuff in the past but it’s come a long way since then. Honestly chat gpt is super helpful for technical issues or guidance on tech

I have this POD rack from 2011 that got resurrected by a cheap IR cab modeling pedal that I use lately

But usually the black sabbath tone is with low treble like in 5 and high bass / gain

also a lot of the 'thickness' of his guitar tone is because of it being doubled by the bass

for those viewing this often, I've found a tone that doesn't sound too bad, not sure if you'd say it's close to their live tone though lol

Playing in d standard, yes the paranoid solo is improvised and really not great lmao
