I want to buy a new amp since I'm using a shitty HB-R20. And it's not making the distortion I want that crunch you know?

I'm choosing between Marshall CODE 50 and BOSS Katana 50 Gen 3. I'm in that price range.

Depends, but defo not the cheaper ones. And also Theres many way better options nowadays. Marshalls rip for sure, but there's 50 other brands that rip as much if not more or rip in different ways.

honestly if ur looking at a modeler id go the katana route

iirc it has the marshall jcm kind of crunch if u want it to but for metal ur more than likely gonna want the 5150 kind of sound over anything
