Can't really go wrong with audio Technica... And yes ...if it has a preamp you only need speakers

Might want to consider second hand. I got an 80's or 90's kenwood which im pretty happy with. Used to be my grandma's before she passed away last year.

Because they would probably say built in preamps are trash and you should get some tube preamp for a grand or more for it to sound warm and authentic
