#Is this a good guitar?

Might pick either colour but that's besides the point. This is the Cort G250 SE. It's a really spec-d out guitar having some notable features like

2 point trem
Coil split
Roasted maple neck
All for the same price as a Pacifica 112v. Now the problem I have as of rn is, there's no reviews on it anywhere (given, it debuted last year) and so I'm here asking for advice,
It's older version, the G250 which I think is still running has some solid reviews so yeah
Do I pull the trigger and lock in this guitar as what I should get? do I consider the Pacifica instead?
And of course, what colour do you prefer?

#

It's also on thomman and has relatively good reviews (despite only having like 4 of them)

some people seem to think so

Welcome to my review of the Cort G250 (or G250L) Electric Guitar. This is a great-value electric guitar for beginners looking for something other than a Squier Affinity series Stratocaster. The Cort G250 is loaded with two single-coil pickups and a humbucker in the bridge position.

As in the guitar

#

Thanks, never knew the 2 were rather similar

celest cipher
#

What genre are you wanting to do?

icy ridge
#

Typically something clean tho

celest cipher
#

????

#

bro just said yes

#

Name a handful so I get a general idea

icy ridge
#

Uhh, I like that beginning main riff from the worst-polyphia

#

For the love of god- steve Vai

#

When it comes to heavier stuff, her last sight-Zero

#

I love blues-y songs in general, jazz too

celest cipher
#

Hmm

#

Gonna assume that bridge pickup is a paf yeah?

icy ridge
#

Pretty much

#

Sounds like it I think

celest cipher
#

Paf is very reliable you should be able to get a decent tone for what your aiming for

icy ridge
#

Sweet

#

It's also used in higher end cort models sooo

celest cipher
#

I don’t know anything about Cort tbh I’m just going off of specs and what genre you like

icy ridge
grand meadow
#

if you want a variety of tones, its super important to get a good amp

icy ridge
#

Any cheaper alternatives will be appreciated

grand meadow
#

wayyyyy more variety of tone, better speaker

#

theres mk1s, mkiis, and mkiiis

#

get the newest one you can afford

#

has pretty good distortion

#

fantastic cleans believe it or not

#

its the best solid state combo in that price range

icy ridge
#

What's the Fx capabilities like

turbid condor
#

Spark is kinda ass ... everything from positive grid I tried is

icy ridge
#

Also @turbid condor , would you say this cort g250se would be able to handle a tone similar to this it's one of my favourite tones and if it can't handle it i might have to look into an X100 instead

icy ridge
#

It also has a hsh variation

#

Seems like a better deal to me in all honesty

#

Considering it's far cheaper too

grand meadow
#

any guitar with humbuckers can handle that tone

#

the most important thing for tone is your amp

icy ridge
grand meadow
#

invest in a good amp dude

#

that's where all your tone comes from

#

I suppose a katana mini x would be fine

#

but you really should get the 50 if possible

turbid condor
#

@icy ridge both Are probably very capable beginner guitars ....the g250se just is more allround

icy ridge
#

Given the roasted neck and the upgraded pickups

#

When it comes to value tho the X100 does win, given it comes with a ton of accessories

turbid condor
#

You can't go wrong with either but the 250 simply is the best option

icy ridge
#

Alright then, I'll look into it

icy ridge

icy ridge
#

To be completely honest, I don't think I can use it to its full potential. I live in a really quiet neighborhood and so I'll be using headphones or using it under low volume cases. To add to that I need something with portability and TONS of effects, hence why i chose the spark, so if you have any suggestions along those lines, id appreciate it

icy ridge
#

Volume isn't a problem for me

grand meadow
#

it's not a volume thing, the 50 sounds better

#

the speaker is better

storm cobalt
#

if you only owned one amp the Katana is more preferrable

#

spark 2 is good, and i use it a lot, but its better as a desktop / traveling amp / fucking around on the couch amp

icy ridge
#

Stupid easy to use, stupid portable, and decent enough tone when connected to a speaker system

icy ridge
#

That app is the main reason I love that amp, it's like an easier to use THR

grand meadow
#

yeah its pretty solid. some of the fx arent really pedal quality, but as far as modeling amps go its pretty solid

#

if you get a katana, get the bt adapter

#

you can change all the tone studio stuff wireless from your phone then

#

its so convenient

icy ridge
#

It's small, easy to use and has a decent tone

#

I'll switch to a high end amp after

grand meadow
#

katana mini x is pretty good from what i hear then yeah

#

they also make a headphone amp, the Boss Katana GO

#

its cool but you obv dont get the speaker for when you want it

#

so idk, up to you

#

id go with the mini x but look into both and see what suits your case more

icy ridge
grand meadow
#

where you at?

icy ridge
#

The regular katana mini is there tho

#

It's cheap, solid amp especially for the price, but doesn't have enough effects to be a main amp

grand meadow
#

so you only get delay with the mini

#

yeah

#

do you want to have a built in speaker with your amp?

#

would you really ever use it?

icy ridge
grand meadow
#

hmm

#

yeah thats a tough situation.

#

i think we need someone with a bit more amp knowledge here

#

sorry i couldnt be of help

#

good luck!

icy ridge
#

Accounting for the fact I can throw it on a 4×12 cabinet if necessary aswell

grand meadow
#

true that

storm cobalt
#

id probably just use the spark 2 then

#

it has more bits and bobs and shit, gimmicks and whatnot. some r fun, i use the looper sometimes

#

if ur using an external speaker then youre still getting positive grid’s software

#

the speaker urself is decent tho, its upgraded over the spark 1. almost everything about it is

turbid condor
#

Sort of like a spark but then not sounding like ass

turbid condor
#

Or of course ... The mightyplug pro

icy ridge
turbid condor
#

weird ... the sd30i is cheaper than the spark on Thomann

icy ridge
icy ridge
#

@turbid condor @storm cobalt @grand meadow what y'all think about me going for the Vox vt20x over the spark

turbid condor
#

yuck

turbid condor
icy ridge
turbid condor
#

it's a chinese brand ... but I doubt even they would make a spelling error like that, they are pretty big nowadays

#

I'd even get an LT25 over the Vox by the way

#

or the Nux Mighty 20 mk2

icy ridge
#

Why is the katana so expensive where I live, double the cost of the spark

turbid condor
#

Oh you live in South Africa ?

turbid condor
icy ridge
icy ridge
turbid condor
#

kinda sorta

#

geographically yes

icy ridge
#

About the same price

turbid condor
#

i feel it's a bit outdated

#

interface also looks clunky

#

the software editor I mean

icy ridge
#

So I found out the katana is a bit more acceptable price wise in india

#

Would you recommend I go for it

#

Gen 3

#

Or gen 2

#

Both are there

turbid condor
#

depends on how much it is and how much you;ll be taxed to import it
