Both are nice, whereas I would lean more towards the Boss. Just love the feel of having knobs.

That being said, both of those are a bit older now.

I would actually suggest the NUX MG-30.
It's well within your budget, much more modern, has built in tuner, metronome, drum machine, and built-in interface so you can easily record.

And it has the ability to load IRs and import other users' presets.

#

Sure thing! ๐Ÿ‘

Depends on who you buy from and what condition the unit is in.

#

Yes, quite.
But I think for the money, you can easily find a good used MG-30, with gives you more choices.
But on its own, the MG-400 is a good unit.

less than the mg30

@nimble inlet Just be advised that with NUX units you can get some fantastic tones, but they do require a bit of tweaking to get there.
Out of the box, the presets are OK, but not great.

With some tweaking, they can sound quite fantastic.

@nimble inlet also be advised that the MG30 is a amp modeler and not a multiFX per se ... it gives you more than you might want, although I see that as a win, the more pedantic people will see that as a bad thing

โ˜๏ธ yes, good point. Having more is never a bad thing, though.

  • 28 Amps
  • 12 Cabs (which you can extend to many more via IRs)
  • 8 Microphones with 3 Mic positions each
  • 3 Acoustic Guitar IRs (so you can make your electric sound pretty close to an acoustic)
  • A ton of effects like Wah, Auto Wah, Compression, Gate, Distortion, Overdrive, Boost, EQ, Chorus, Flanger, Detune, etc, etc, etc.
  • parallel routing
  • Scene modes
  • Plenty of I/O options
  • included external footswitch
  • Looper
  • Many recording functions, etc.

For the money (under 300 Euro) it would really be difficult to find something that has the same value for the price and sounds as good.

And you dont't need an amp with it. You can monitor it just via headphones if you wish. Great for playing at night when you don't want to disturb anyone.

#

that's quite the steal

#

probably will have to upgrade the firmware on it when you get it though

jagged elm
#

these you mean ?

#

looper and tuner are activates by pressing 2 at the same time

#

you can change patches/presets by clicking a single one

That is a great price!! Nice!! ๐Ÿ‘

Yes, you can either turn specific effects on or off via a button, or you can programm one of the buttons on the unit or the included footswitch to pretty much any parameter you want.

So you can switch presets, turn the wah on or off, turn any effect on or off, switch scenes within a preset, etc.

It's compltely up to you how you want to program those buttons.

No worries! ๐Ÿค˜

The MG-30 really benefits from tinkering, however. You can spend hours just trying to emulate a sound or come up with your own. That's the fun part, and that's where the machine really shines the most....

# jagged elm How does it take custom IRs ?

Yes, it certainly does. Using a few myself at the moment, actually. The included IRs range from meh to not too bad... but once you start using custom IRs with the unit, it truly starts to shine.

Tone is in the IR / speaker

Well, EVERYTHING is quite vague, but the MG-30 has all the essential pedal sounds and several different kinds for each category, so unless you need a very specific pedal, you'll have plenty of choices for each category.

#

i think you can keep the wah because multifx wah is usually kinda bad

#

or rather you need an exp pedal and good exp pedals cost a bit

#

distortion and mt you can probably sell for like 70 usd per in america

#

other places i dont know

#

yeah?

No worries.
I live in Japan for most of the year, so I'm not sure what prices you can get in the US or Europe.
I think the Metal Zone is somewhere around 150 Euro new, so you can probably get a good 100 Euro for it if it's in good shape.
