Was wondering if anyone knew of any other songs that could help me learn this riff? I’ve been working with a metronome for some time now but can’t cross over 75 bpm because my technique is all out of wack with my left hand.

This is the only song I ever use my thumb around the neck, so naturally I’m getting real tense when doing the hammer on/off and moving between chords. I know, “Just play really slowly with a metronome without getting tense and use proper technique.” Great advice, I just feel like I would also benefit from practicing other riffs that require similar technique. It’s really helped me in the past learning other stuff.

Maybe something that requires less movement. Idk.

Try practicing Jimi Hendrix. Like Fire,Hey Joe, Wind Cries Mary and other easier stuff at first

this songs is one of those where the right hand work as much or even more as the left hand, even with you're playing the chords and hammer-ons right, if your picking is sloppy you gonna have a hard time... I suggest practice playing with a relaxing right hand and using your wrist a lot.. Also a good "exercise" is playing only the first two chords to get the feel and flow

I reached 82 bpm since posting my initial message. But now that I know I’ve done so with wacky technique, I’m going to try to just kick it all the way back to 60bpm and make sure I’m keeping my right hand moving in time.

I’d grabbed part of the recording, slowed it down on my daw. Turned on the metronome and slowly increased speed, no regard as to keeping a rhythm to play 16th notes. Like I said before just hitting the notes at the right time based off the recording.
