Hey guys, I want to buy a cool mini amp that will sit on my table which I can just plug in my headphones and guitar into and jam. But, I want the sound to be less rock/metal type and more.. jazzy? Even though I don't play jazz, but for it to have more deeper nicer clean sound because I play a lot of pop songs, if you understand. Thanks all!
#Looking for a nice mini amp.

Oh right! I think the sound I'm looking for is like an indie tone.
If you don't need a speaker - given you mentioned headphones, I would do some research on three headphone amps.
- Boss Katana Go
- Nux Mighty Plug Pro
- Fender Mustang Micro Plus
The benefit of headphone amps is that you get a bunch of great effects, amps, cabs, the ability to jam along to your music collection on your phone (via bluetooth), and the ability to record, given they can all be used as a guitar interface with your computer.
Very lightweigt, and you can always carry one in your gigbag.
All three are great! I personally have the Boss and the Nux.
Out of those two, I prefer the tones from the Boss, but the functionality of the NUX. It also has a metronome and a drum machine - something which is vitally important in practice, I think. Don't know why the other companies didn't include those features.
So, do some research into all three, and get the one that most appeals to you. Happy hunting! 😁
Spark go
Mooer P2 ?
they said no need for speakers
you dint mention the blackstar 3 watt runs on battaries
Blackstar Fly 3 is my favorite miniature amp at the moment
The new Boss Katana GO has also made a comeback... I've never tried it yet but that's one of my priorities next time i'm at the store
Thanks for the comments! Boss Katana GO looks really cool, but I think the blackstar fly 3 amp is really good in terms of sound and functionality. And the fact I can carry it around exactly like a small amp.
@frozen jungle "they said!?" blackstar 3w looks more like spark go than headphone amp!?
Yeah, I know, I know. But I picked it over the design as well. I like how it looks like a literal small amp that'll sit on my desk rather than a gadget.
the Mooer p2 can fit in your back pocket even
someone once showed me theirs, and called it their tone rectangle
and I can't unhear it, that's all I think of when I see it now
technically, he's not wrong
my music production Pc is rather square so I am missing out on that warm rectangle tone
lol
spark go is a great choice or a blackstar fly 3 definetly
New Spark Neo as headphone amp could be also a good choice
How mini we talking?
If you looking for something tiny, then fender mustang micro plus or spark neo
If looking for something with a speaker that’s not so mini, then a spark 2 no doubts
Or you could also buy an interface which is what I do although I have all these amps I said. I say that if you just wanna sound studio quality, then I recommend an audio interface.
You wouldn't need an interface with any of the headphone amps though... They all have itnerface capability, so for the price you'd pay for a good interface, you could have a headphone amp (Mustang Micro Plus, or Boss Katana Go, or Mighty Plug Pro) with all its effects AND also the same functionality as an interface for more or less the same price.
Oh yeah true but I don’t think they have their own sound card so I’m pretty sure the latency would be really noticeable. Unless of course, they don’t mind it
Have you ever played one???
There is no latency!!!
Yes. Fender mustang micro
Ok, that's arguably the "weakest" of the bunch. Pales in comparison to Boss and Nux models
Ah
I wanted to get a boss katana go but it got discontinued at guitar center :(
As of now, I use an interface and I STILL have latency. UNLESS I use ASIO but the thing is that I can’t record in OBS using ASIO
get the blackstar 3watt mini ap it has OverDrive and reverb and it doubles as a speaker
Yeah, the Boss Katana Go had some sort of parts precurement problem. They're back on sale now.
Sorry to hear about the Asio problems in OBS.
Have you tried in a DAW like Reaper, for instance? Do you still have latency there?
might not be the place to ask, but anyone had the volume dial break on their katana go? 😭
flat side of the D shaped clip broke and now it won't stay on the post/can't turn it
If you’re not going to need speakers I could also recommend using plugins
There’s really one for any need and in my opinion they’re going to sound better than a micro practice amp
I own the spark go and I really haven’t been impressed
Luckily not so far. Have you contacted support about that already?
haven't, figure I'll just glue it back together next time I've got the superglue out
