I got this Squier Jazzmaster like 7 months ago and it's been a pain because of all the problems it had the tuners slip alot the whole tremolo system is messed up and the neck is warped and till cost about the same price as it new just to fix it so I was thinking why not sell it and get a new one like a Jaguar or a Stratocaster but I don't know which one
#Hi everyone I'm looking from some gutiar recommendations

Okay so if you want a jaguar or a strat there is few different possibilities
First a Squier model
Which you don’t won’t
The next model is the player made in Mexico by fender model
Which is the lowest end from fender
It’s a really great instrument for beginners and intermediate players
What is your budget after selling the guitar?
After that there is the vintera model which is the top of what fender make in Mexico
Then made in Japan model
And finally after American ones that are really high end
I was considering the MIM Fenders since I'm Mexican and they are pretty cheap
You should be looking either at a player instrument or a vintera depending of your budget
But a player one seems perfect if you started 7 month ago and if you are looking for a reliable instrument
Also Squier Classic Vibe. Great quality from that product line
It’s a really solid choice
They don’t seems to be wanting to stay on a Squier
I don’t think that was specifically mentioned by OP
Im honestly look at anything under 800 plus what I get from selling my gutiar
You can easily find a player at this price + possibility to modify it to get what you want
I have a Squier acoustic my father had since the 90s so Squiers are ok with me but I just thing I got a crappy one
They already have a Squier jm and actually only cv are available so it’s probably already a cv
You’ll need to decide on if you want a Strat or Jaguar. For example, for a strat the neck profile and radius I think differ between Fender lineups and Squier
Oh yeah necks
Is there not an affinity jazzmaster?
@graceful holly which do you have
Its a Squier Jazzmaster 70s classic vibe I think
Okay then yeah Fender Player, Vintera is your best bet
I’m honestly quite surprised you’re having all these issues with the classic vibe series
Yeah I've watched video on it and only some people are have the issue I'm having
Are all Fender neck sizes the same?
Only one and it’s limited edition
Yes and no
Are you talking for length or neck profile
How thick they are because I prefer slimmer necks
Did you buy this used or new and how much did you pay
You said it would also cost the same amount to fix it as you paid for it new?
Usually modern fenders have the same neck profile yes
You will have a neck similarly wide like your jm if you go for a jaguar, im not sure how different is strat width compared to jm tho
They are all pretty thin
It was in Gutiar Center in the back corner and I liked the colour of it and it was new according to them but I been there for a couple of months
Is there a difference between the HSS and SSS when it comes to tone?
Yes
Try listening on YouTube for a sound comparison between an hss and a sss strat
Because I like rock and grunge stuff but also I love cleans
Um it’s affinity lol, no way it’s just one limited edition jazzmaster in the line
Did you pay under 4 or 500 for it?
Well that’s what fender says
Is it really important, 💀
They are here to get stuff they want not to be controlled
It was about 450 it was like 470 but got it on discount plus employees discount
Definitely a CV
Hss allows you to have some agressive sounding and also clean if that’s what you are looking for
Oh ok
HSS has more tonal variety just cause of the humbucker in the bridge, at least for your styles you wanna play
But you can have a single coil in the bridge and still be fine
Either way a strat is very versatile
Yeah I think I'll get a Strat and then more down the line a Fender Jaguar/Jazzmaster so hopefully I don't have the same problems again
Sure
Plus the Strats are more versatile
Indeed
So which models do yall recommend? The Player Series?
Player and Vintera have slightly different neck profiles so maybe try em for yourself.
One is always twice the price tho
All strats are good upgrade platforms though
Yeah you’re basically paying for fit and finish
They’re all strats just different era flavors lol
I would go for a mij instead of a vintera if that’s what you are looking for…
I do want to but a Floyd in one
Yeah I figured
Both have reputable quality and minimal variations in quality
it’s really up to him
But mij is closer to original strat
But yeah it’s only a question of tastes
Both goes around the same price
The Vintera only comes in one colour?
No there is a bunch of colors if I’m right
Oh it's only showing the blue
Yeah
Even with collection supposed to be true to original they keep some weird things not true to originals
Compared to MIJ that basically just build perfect copies
I can see them all
50s 60s 70s in every colors
Are the Fender MIM called the Player Series?
Yes
Well Vintera are made in Mexico too
But they are higher end
Ah I'm seeing the other colours now
You were on the wrong model right ?
No I just search up Vintera and I automatically put a filter on it
Oh ok
Do they have any that match the headstock to the colour of the body or is that the only the expensive ones?
No, I mean aside from quality haha, I'm asking cause I'm actually curious
What aspects/aesthetics/components make the MIJ closer to the original strats than a 50s or 60s Vintera?
Only made in Japan have matching headstock
Neck profile is a bit different, same for the finish, and also apparently electronic is a bit closer to og strat
Nice dude, HSS is the way
You should go try a maple neck player at your local store 🙂
(Player II are really great guitars)
Yeah I'm differently going to my local gutiar store and play some but that is just to set a starting ground
Tbh strat is not the most different model compared for exemple to jm and jag mij vs vintera
Yeah and know which one looks the best irl
So dose it have a 3 way or 5 way switch?
5 way
3 way is really rare now by default
Especially on modern version of guitars
Between an identical model MIJ and 50s or 60s Vintera? All those differences? Okay interesting
50s vs 50s and 60s vs 60s
So the neck profile is different in 50s vs 50s... and 60s vs 60s?
Yeah
Japanese ones are a bit thicker
Most guitars with 3 pickups will have 5-way switch just to be able to select neck/mid, mid/bridge, apart from individual pickups
HH setups will usually have 3-way, but some use 5-way to use inner/outer/coil split
A lot or hh go for knobs instead of switch
?
huh, you mean knobs instead of a switch? what do you mean lol
