Rn i got the base pickups (Ibanez Rg420z)
looking for a classic sound (Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera)

"cheap" the baseline of actual-name-brands stuff starts at 100ish usd

#

signatures go for more

hazy crypt
#

the average duncan is 100ish
a dimebucker is 120-150 depending on retailer
an emg 81 (you also have to swap out the electronics for more) is 100
james hetfield emg is 120

hazy crypt
#

oh

#

i thought steinbergers are just emg

real echo
#

Nope

rain trail
#

Also saw some Legator Hive 2 for cheap

#

Any good?

hazy crypt
#

hive ii are on the more modern metal side of stuff

#

i wouldnt use those for metallica but you definitely can

#

wait are you just looking at oem dismantled parts lmao

rain trail
#

whats oem 🤨

hazy crypt
#

because nor steinberger nor legator sells their pickups individually

rain trail
#

I'm looking at used parts rn

#

See if i can find any

hazy crypt
#

oh valid yeah

rain trail
#

The Steinberger ones are HSH for $35

#

I honestly know nothing about pickups so idk if it's good price

real echo
#

They are basically just trying to get rid of them and make a few bucks at in instead of throwing them away kekw

rain trail
#

Makes sense

#

Its $700 in MX pesos

#

So yeah bout $35

real echo
#

And probably just gonna sit on the market for a while

hazy crypt
#

those are not gonna be better than your ibanez pickups bruh

rain trail
#

What about the Legator?

hazy crypt
#

you also need wiring conversation because i remember the 420z and a few other rgs in that line coming with active pickups

#

so very likely new pots needed if you want to go passive (legator hive iis) instead

real echo
#

Nope passive

rain trail
#

They are passive

hazy crypt
#

oh good enough

rain trail
#

I'll look into those

#

$35 HH
