Master of Puppets Intro

Im having a lot of trouble with the opening riff of Master, specifically the 02-03-0 4 part because that part is hard for me to play standing up and my whole hand starts moving. How can I improve this? any tips?

you can just let your hand rest muting the E string

and then hit the A string when you need to

all downpicks

play it slowly a couple times

then take a little break

do it again

another break

then speed it up

and repeat

Might want to record, no idea what you mean about your hand and how it's moving.

im sure youve heard this before but start slower

there's a lot of nuance in the riff itself that will make it sound really weird if not played correctly

it's really hard to downpick at the same rhythm of the song itself, because rarely any songs out there other than metallica and some other thrash metal bands use pure downpicking for songs at that fast of a pace
