#Getting a second guitar - considering options

Hey all - I'm currently torn on which guitar to go for as my second guitar. I have recently moved overseas and had to leave my guitars behind and am getting back to the groove with a new small collection. I currently own an Epiphone ES-335 Traditional Pro in Iverness Green which I love, and I'm now looking to get another guitar to complement my needs.

I'm mainly looking at something smaller and a bit more comfortable for faster playing than I currently have - I usually play metal, rock, blues rhythm and leads, but am interested in pretty much anything. My long time guitar wishlist is the following:

1️⃣ - PRS SE Custom 24
2️⃣ - Epiphone Les Paul Custom
3️⃣ - Fender Player II Telecaster
4️⃣ - Epiphone SG '61 Standard

Honorable wishlist mention: Epiphone MKH Les Paul 7 String for the future 7 string endeavours lol

From the above, which one do you think would fit my needs better at the moment? (I plan on getting them all eventually but for the time being I'm torn on which one I should get to go along with my hollow body)

PS: I have had the opportunity to try them all in a store which...made things more difficult because I loved them all! Hence the difficulty in choosing 😭

Thanks for reading this 😄

Thank you for responding! In your view what gives PRS the edge over the rest? I felt like the guitar was of very good quality for the price and had a very comfortable neck when I tried a couple of these models

you want something comfortable so a les paul is out of the equation lol. i'd say it's between the prs and tele and personally i'd go for a tele

if you already have a guitar with humbuckers then naturally something with single coils would fit nicely

yeah.. I mean there are different les pauls but the ones I tried I found too bulky and heavy lol

Yeah that's what has been on my mind, my ES-335 has humbuckers Alnico Classic PRO humbuckers

#

It's quite a nice guitar but man it's quite the big boy

#

Would a Tele hold up nicely if I wanna crank up and play some hard rock/metal on it too?

yes

Yes

(also worth noting the ES-335 has split coil functions, while not a genuine single coil it's an option)

The prs has that too

Yup that's true, quite the versatile thing that guitar 😄

Not even gonna read this thread

And just say Get the PRS

It really looks like a fantastic guitar

prs

24 frets, has a tremolo

#

thats enough of a diff from the les paul to justify not getting the les paul and SG since the es 335 kinda does the same shit they can di ahyway

The 335 has very nice humbuckers and the typical tune o matic bridge

#

So it may boil down to between the PRS and the Telecaster

#

I really like both and the PRS may have the edge atm 🤔

#

The tremolo, the wide thin neck and the extra frets play a factor

rose aurora
#

are extra frets really that noteworthy though

Not a huge factor for me but still good to have extra 2 frets and make use of them at some point!

#

Kinda like the tremolo, dunno if I'll use it all the time but having the option surely can't hurt

#

broadens the possibilities

fair enough

it will be similar to the epi in terms of tone but it will have better playability ergonomics etc
