Squier affinity and boss katana go and pair of headphones

get a pack of electric strings, a pickup off amazon, an output jack, (these'll run you like. $20-25 total) and then the cheapest/freest guitar of any sort you can find and then boom you're in business <- VERY loose definition of playable
I bought a great used guitare for 50 euros. Anything is possible with quality control or previous owner' work on the instrument with used guitars.
Also: anything can be playable if you're good enough, and competent enough to set up the guitar yourself. For a beginner a mediocre guitar can be hampering. Good quality control and a professional set-up has a cost that should not be sniffed at.
