Which mini head should I go for

I'm looking into buying a mini head for use as a preamp into a higher wattage power amp or to turn my higher wattage amps into "mini" amps wattage wise. I'm torn between the Soldano SLO 30 mini and the Bogner Ecstasy mini. I'm looking for something tight and high gain to contrast the meaty thick tones from my other amps.

I maybe shouldnt answer since I haven't tried any of them, but my impression from YT videos is that the Soldano is more high gain than the Bogner, wich had a more vintage vibe to it? Sorry if I'm wrong, but this was my impression when I was checking out various mini-heads online a while back.

Thank you! The Bogner has a lot more features but the Soldano does seem to be higher gain, hence why I'm split 😅

Your welcome. 🙂 Personally I'd get the one I felt warmest about, but whitout playing them both first it's near impossible to say. Jerry Cantrell used to have Bogner's, but Soldano is pretty solid to. I'm hoping someone will make a Mesa Mk 2c+ mini-head one day, myself. 😅

I mean why not just get a pre amp pedal? More options

Because I want the ability to also use it as a power amp via the fx loop, more options!

I tried a SLO 100 and it was my 3rd favorite amp ever, so I'm kind of leaning towards the SLO now 😅

Sounds great from what I've heard, I have yet to try one in person, though
