HSS is the pickup configuration
If you want hard metal a humbucker at the bridge is quite nice to have
Lighter things (distortion wise) and a singlecoil on all 3 positions would be fine
Could also be smart to choose something more versatile in case you suddenly make a 180 and get interested in different things
Budget?
If you don't mind the way it looks (a lot of people hate it) you could get the Ibanez q series, or any other ibanez with the dyna mix system
Physical HSS but the humbucker can be used as a single coil and vice versa if it's HH giving you like 9 total configurations
a charvel would be solid
Nothing a squire cant play. Get one with a humbucker in the bridge position and 2 single coils. Probably the most versatile thing under $200.
They're basically Fender's version of Epiphone
They're supposed to be the cheaper line of the same guitars basically. Ironically Squire usually has better deals in general spec-wise and sometimes even better QC.
epiphone are higher quality
real
i wouldn't recommend a squier unless you were on a budget and it seems you want a good guitar
do you have anything currently like an amp?
I got the impression that they were a beginner
does your budget factor in an amp?
said 900 and down
Oh I didnt see that
@sour wraith What are you trying to find particularly? What genre is your main?
What aesthetic are you looking for, etc.
Ahhh okay
revstar standard would be good as well
stainless steel frets are very nice and it's a great guitar
Are you looking for a shredder-type guitar, general use for all genres, more metal type, etc
Right off the bat something like a Stingray
You mentioned nirvana, this is less "grungy" if you get what Im saying but damn is it classy
that's a nice guitar
the higher-end sterlings are generally pretty good and that's what id consider on that side
good price
sterling also has £1800 instruments as well 💀
that's how much i paid for my actual EB music man stingray
Sounds about right
Yeah I tried a couple before I bought my newest Nylon
Great high end guitars
https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/RevstarS20Bk--yamaha-revstar-standard-rss20-electric-guitar-black you can get these cheaper used if you look around
but also highly recommend these
if you want to go full nirvana
it's currently 10% off as well, not included in the listed price
so it's just over $700
True but those are a lot less versatile for someone that I assume doesnt have a lot of electrics(OP mentioned that hes a begginer at electric guitar but plays acoustic)
These two have a humbucker in bridge position and 2 single coils
@summer ice Didn't Epiphone have a lineup of Les Paul's that had locking tuners and coilsplitting humbuckers for less than $700 at one point? Tryna find it rn
les paul moderns fit that bill
maybe the les paul muses
Yeah those are great spec to price wise
not everyone likes a les pual though
yea
i have a les paul modern and it turns out im just not big on them
actually just sold it on friday and waiting to post it
Squier affinity HSS
It's a good quality every genre guitar
I play one on stage
It's really nice
The 2 point tremelo makes it nice
Lmao this exact guitar is what my Highschool has
Its alright but the dude has a much higher budget than that
It's a good guitar
For its price range, for sure
Dude's budget is almost 1k
And easy to mod
Plus amp and always spend more on your amp
I assumed the guy already had an amp
No
With 900 why would you get a 200ish guitar and a 700 amp? Its better to split the budget honestly
yeah I agree
I think that $500 stingray is honestly the best bet
