2nd Guitar Pricing

Been playing my Squier Bullet Mustang for a while now, and I finally decided to get a Telecaster as my second guitar. My Bullet was ~$200, so does anyone know what a good price for a second guitar would be? I don't want to go too expensive you know? Or, is there a specific Telecaster you can recommend?
I'm hoping to spend around $600 on it, but I'm willing to increase my budget if there's a huge jump in quality/performance with extra money.

I'm noticing a lot of the Telecasters are Squier, is there a downside to Squier guitars/should I look for a Fender specifically?

I mean squiers are cheap but that doesn’t necessarily mean bad
