have u tried the stock harley benton pickups
def try them first
i once got a harley benton the DIY build kit, ditched the guitar and put pickups in a nicer guitar so
you may be surprised
adjusting pickup heights
is one thing
and the amp itself is like 90% of the sound of a guitar
Adjusting pickup height, EQ your amp. Use knobs on guitar
Its all there specifically to make your stuff sound better
Lol
not most likely
if ur amp is ass
ur tone is ass
plain n simple
oh so its not some fender champion that goose was mentioning?
and what other gear did they use to supplement that? a lot of em that ive watched use some expensive mics, pedalboards, etc
which just kinda defeats the purpose of showing cheap stuff can sound good, by using expensive stuff to try to offset it
dont tell me its glenn from smg studios or whatever it was called
because he boasts about this stuff a lot, and his mixer costs 5 figures
thats the problem with those type of videos to me, “hey beginners, ur cheap amp isnt the problem, look here! disregard the multi fx and double tracked and mixed audio with a r121 ribbon mic”
so which amp r u having rn then, if the laneys only planned
oh so ur already planning on buying new stuff
then don’t get any with a floyd rose
theres a reason why floyd rose owners have 6 floyd rose guitars
they cant really change their tunings once they set it up
they CAN change the tunings, but then now the bridge is out of wack
so if u want floyd level range but without the commitment
get a recessed 2 point
they cant change tunings ik, it just takes 90 years to reset the bridge to it
so get a recessed 2 point bridge instead
like on charvel dk24s
or on them ibanez az2402s ot whatever theyre called
tom bridges? idk what about em
theyre just basic hardtails
not much else to say
i dont like them
limited intonation range, minimum action adjustment
and can collapse in on themselves after a while
if u want a more reliable and versatile fixed bridge
go for something like a hipshot design
the ones that arent a bar with another bar
like gibsons
ibanez isnt heavy
nor is tele light
yeah, the sound from those arent heavy or light
its almost all of ur amp that determines that
and how u play
yeah, ones not heavier than the other, just different
learn
cus playing an ibanez doesnt sound any more metal
its easy to describe, humbuckers are warmer and louder
thats essentially it
but that doesnt mean itll sound heavier, heaviness is extremely contextual
with the tone mainly coming from the amp
so instead of buying guitars like “this one is heavy this one is clean”
just buy what you find sounds best and is most comfortable
this guy makes his single coil tele sound heavier than 70% of this servers humbucker distorted tones
nah, high tunings can also rip
here
this is only drop d
but it sounds nasty and rips harder than someone in Drop A who doesn’t know what theyre doing
heaviness isnt determined by what guitar u play or what tuning ur in, its really dependent on HOW you write
ur laney dualtop is more expensive than his plugin
and ur multi fx
i know because i use the same plugin as him
its just neural dsp nolly
i bought it for 70 dollars
it doesnt take a heavy asf pc either, i run it thru my 2018 used macbook.
main point im just tryna drill is a guitar doesnt inherently sound heavy
so dont buy guitars off that idea
it doesnt matter, u listened to this thru a phone
or at least i assume so
i did
great, which is probably better than my little phone speakers, and it still sounds good
that guy is good at writing
and hes good at mixing
thats all heaviness is
then spend ur amp money on a pc if u want idk, im just yryna make a point
mixing isnt any harder than learning to play guitar
or learning to dial in ur amp
u can get whatever you like
im just tryna drill in the idea that guitar doesn’t = heavier
so dont buy off that mentality
buy guitars based on how much you like their sound, not how heavy or clean u think it can be. I have a tele along with my more modern guitars and i use the tele in modern contexts too depending on what i need
none of my guitars are inherently heavier or cleaner than another, just different, and i use them all in the same situations sometimes just for different flavors of sound
the writing is what makes metal sound good, the tuning doesnt have to be low either as proven
gojira’s only in D standard and use vintage output pickups, yet they sound disgusting cus Joe Duplantier knows how to write well and the drums accentuate that
I keep one Floyd equipped guitar and the rest are all hardtails set in certain tunings.
