as someone who’s main guitar has a whammy (technically a tremotone) you’ll need to retune every time you play but unless you’re massively dive bombing i’ve never had any real issues

Nah I for one would vouch for something with a Floyd. Floyds are still better than most tremolos on the market.
And I know the particular brand of Floyd they're using I have that on my 7-stringer. Aside from the troubles with getting the arm to stay tight I didn't have any real issues.
