#Portable Amp: JOYO MA 10 Vs Orange Crush Mini
407 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
if you can afford it, a yamaha thr5, spark mini are great options
if you don't like the orange crush sound, no reason to get it
try the joyo out and see if you like it
Yoo thanks man for the advice
I wish they aren't in my budget, I might be able to go Japan next year so I'm planning of saving up to buy a Yamaha thr5 but used
a used thr5 is an awesome option
but it might not come with cubase AI and some cables
only thing with the thr5. the distortion is a little limited
what do you plan to play?
I mean I got a BOSS DS-1 so that can probably make up for it. I play in a band that does anime covers from bocchi the rock so I need a portable amp with good OD and most of the music I listen to uses OD and Distortion so mainly that ig
for a band?? you'll need something a lot louder
the thr5 will struggle to cut through
bocchi the rock is pretty basic I'd say
Nah it's more of a good practice amp
ah, rehearsals?
With good OD and Distortion and also for when I just wanna play during lunch break at schools AHAHHA
thr5 will be good for that
Our bassist has a JOYO amp so ye
actually im in a similar sorta position as you
band that sometimes plays bocchi music
I could kinda tell from u pfp haha
I use the thr5 for rehearsals, borrow a 50 watt amp sometimes tho
I'm basically the kita Ikuyo in my band
LMAOOO I do vocals too
fuck vocals lol
What does ur band do
does band stuff
our first performance we played seishun complex
Sheesh good shit
fr
Fude pen Boru Pen
that one's one of the easier k-on songs yeah?
We plan to do fuwa fuwa time next year cause we can't find a pianist
Tbh me and our bassist started playing only last year so that's why we did easier songs
I'm kinda bad so we weren't able to push through with boccher songs sadly I need more practice lmao
I've been playing for like 3 months, that's the reason why I only qualified as a rhythm guitarist
but with seishun complex I'd say I did well
Sameeee I've been playing for like 6 months but I more of just read tabs to play
I should check it out on songsterr later
What genre do u guys mainly play
Damnnn I didn't think I'd find someone who does the same exact thing
We're basically Bocchi the Rock in our school
nah we're not bocchi the rock in our school
we suck ass lmao
we are a band, but we're not a good one
Even our personalities match up with the original characters like legit
Lead - introvert and reserved
Bassist - Introvert, random, spends money all the time on basses, is literally ryo
Drummer - positive af, meme man, video editor of the group (like nijika) is basically nijika
Rhythm and vocals - most extroverted, loudest, bad at their instrument, and can make friends easily
the personalities don't match up in our band
U guys played seishun complex to me that's already a feat
Kita band HAHAH
I had a lot of trouble at our performance
because there was literally more than 50 people watching
and i did mess up a few times
but no one noticed luckily
Man atleast u didn't voice crack in front of your whole batch
During the talent show HAHAHHA
We're gonna make up for it during the school festival thou
Like what it looks like? Stratocaster with an HSS setup
I'm so mad I literally saw the Kita guitar in Japan but didn't notice cause there was a sale sign on it, I told my mom and she said she would've gotten it for me back then 😭
Hbu u
What color
black, I customized it with a black pickguard
Wtf why are we the same
you are me
You are me too
Was thinking of getting either a black or red pickguard arranagement
red? so it looks like a regular pacifica 611?
nah more of cause it a bit different
ah
Do u have a Pacifica like this or is it like the Pacifica bocchi uses
Damn nice
and you have a 112V too?
Nah it's a EGC112C
I was thinking that the headstock looked off
It's like a normal strat with a HSS
Mhmm
Do u play for ur school too or do u guys do gigs
for school, but we plan on doing some street performances sometime
We wanna do gigs maybe cause we want money
Our lead bought a Yui sunburst LP but not Gibson ofc
Our bassist got the ryo's bass
our instruments don't match up with the anime lol
bassist has an ibanez gio, lead has a squier classic vibe
Good shit nonetheless
Tbf our lead needed a new guitar cause his red strat was cheap and had so many problems
Our bassist was turned acoustic guitar to bassist so he bought one
He's planning to buy the kikuri bass since he learned how to play bass with a bachi like her
I was on the verge of getting a harley benton sc-dlx cause it looked like bocchi's guitar, then I realized I could customize a cheap pacifica to look like bocchi's pacifica
I want a Harley Benton DC-Junior Fat Pelham Blue
Ur making me think I should try changing my pickguard hmm
it's pretty easy actually
I was thinking red cause kita color lmao
just do it while changing strings
just get a sticker at that point
I didn't do it cause I know a friend who has a black strat with a black head stock
Fair point
I got the exact kita Ikuyo guitar bag thou
When I was in JP I got it custom ordered it's so good ong
Did u get ur Pacifica as a set with an AMP like the gigmaker? That's what I got
nah I got my amp and guitar separate
bocchi the rock
huge inspiration
but it was also just me wanting to play guitar and become famous since I was in kindergarten lol
You are literally me
frfr
Ano Bando performance was the Kickstarter for me
for me it was just seeing how much bocchi grew throughout her music journey
i thought to myself that i wanted to change too
up until that point I was pretty much a shut-in
its changed my life for sure lmao
I started out with piano / key board in the pandemic but never really took off on it. All I learned was Sweden from Minecraft
Got inspired by bocchi the rock since I thought playing guitar was for those who were talented from birth and you had to be one of those popular kids to play and shred seeing as those are who play guitar in my school
maybe it just wasn't for you
Seeing bocchi, no friends, and just practiced to get good, shredding on stage made me realized that's not true
bocchi is just that good fr
Will do my friend
Awesome to meet someone who's in the same position like me
Nice meeting u man
you too
I would ask where ur from but I wanna respect ur privacy
not an issue
Ayt can I ask where ur from
czechia
Europe?
yea
well genetically I'm vietnamese but I was born in Europe so I consider myself European and not asian
we asian fr
there's so many similarities that I'm wondering if this is staged
Ikr help
Also thanks for ur advice for what this original post was about
Convinced my mom to get me a JOYO amp
I tried it
It sounds cheap 😭
Like no offense to marshall but it does not sound good with clean or OD
And plus both are the same price (joyo and ms-2)
U can play it while u walk fr
frfr
That is one thing
spark go does that better I'd say
ONG BUT ITS SO EXPENSIVE 😭
yea I'd say so too
but then again most mini amps are just for practice
or really portability
I'm glad I stretched for a thr5 though it sounds awesome
and it's super loud for its size
and the fact it's 10 watts
It's 10 watts??? Damn
yeah 2x5 watts
I just want a portable amp because I'm tired of bringing my 15 watt amp everytime I got to school
what amp do you have atm?
Because we get to use the bandroom there anyways and the guy who owns it has like super huge fender amps in there that are just 2 years old
And Im tired of always looking for an outlet to play music since I don't own an acoustic
we have a marshall stack in there but we have to ask if we can use it
is the joyo battery powered?
Shiit nice
never seen that
It's 15 watts and came with the gigmaker set I got
oh, probably not amazing in that case lol
It's pretty good, even our lead said it sounds like a 30 watts amp sometimes
It's just fine for my skill level and for me personally it sounds great
good to hear!
I don't need anything else until I get better it already annoys my neighbors
lol my thr5 annoys my neighbors too
Ahh wait is ur THR5 ur main amp
yea
AHHH now I see how u got to spend for that
That's actually a really good choice since u don't need a portable amp and it already works for a main amp too
Yeah so it's like 2 in one
Good for u
it's loud enough to annoy the neighbor? it's loud enough for rehearsals
Is it heavy or light btw
it's 2kg
I've been curious ever since I looked into it
pretty light id say
how much does it weigh?
Tbh idk I have to check
all amps are a pain to carry around all day honestly lmao
even my thr5 occassionally
It's 5kg
Our bassist has the joyo amp and it's light af
U can also attach a strap around it and I still have my old Yamaha strap so that's what I'm gonna do with it
you can attach a strap on that joyo?? that's awesome
Main reason for why I wanted to get it
looks good, i like the strap
This photo was the deal breaker for me between choosing the orange crush mini and that
That's a photo off the internet I don't have it HAHAHA
It's gonna come in like a week my mom just bought it rn
Fr
How'd u even get ur THR5? From a store?
OHHHH
Lucky I know it
I was checking where to get a Harley Benton DC-Junior Fat Pelham blue
It's literally Kita's guitar
oh yea harley benton is thomann's house brand
It's so hard to get good instruments here in PH
harley benton is good when you get lucky but their quality control is a mess
Because they're usually overpriced af due to shipping
Wdym
a lot of the time you get a usable guitar, but you need to re-adjust action, polish the fret ends, it has cosmetic defects
if you get lucky you can get something really nice though
Ahh shit I've heard that was the issue during the review thou
Ye I heard cheaper price and good quality
yea mostly its just QC
Mhmm
it has good features for the price
Like one store I went inside they were selling a boss ds-1
It costed fucking $132
oh fuck
a ds-1 is usually around 70$ from what I remember
speaking of pedals, i got a blues driver and a t-rex mudhoney for around 140$ total, awesome deal
I got it for literally $100 less and its my favorite pedal
Good shit
What's awesome about shopping in Japan is you can literally stack sale prices
it's not worth it for me just because of the shipping prices
it's 70$ to ship from Japan + tax
Since I'm from ph, 1 peso is 2.6 yen so something that costs 10k yen is like 3.6k for me
is 3.6k a lot?
And then you go there in November for black Friday sale
Not really
whew
It's like 60 dollars for us
not bad
And then you add on the tax free sale as a foreigner
Then boom
And even fucking better if u get used shit
Used shit from Japan is basically brand new since they take good care of their stuff there
you can get some pedals for literally 30$ sometimes it's insane
I'm saving up tons of money for this year's trip since we might go to Tokyo
get bocchi's gibson
I wanna go to Ochanimizu guitar street and maybe SHIMO KITAZAWA to visit bocchers
Tbh I'm thinking of it
fuck yeah
I'm debating whether to put all my money into getting a super nice guitar
A complete pedal board
Or a really good amp
amp is more important than guitar imo
I wanna get a BOSS KATANA MKII
those things are really heavy tho
Tried it at a studio I got to practice with my band it feels great especially with all the effects
It's more of an amp I'll have at my house
ooh fair
Since if I do gigs or play at school there's usually already an amp setup
So I just bring my guitar
true
T Rex mudhouse honey? What effect is it
it's a distortion pedal, I think it's based off a rat
SHIIIT good stuff
I'm a stupid beginner guitarist who likes nirvana after learning it so that's why I aimed for getting a ds-1
I got a JOYO delay pedal which is also a looper too
ds-1 is super nice though
It is I love it sm
also i got blues driver because of bocchi so
Hell yeah we both got boss pedals for our idols
frfr
I wanna get a chorus pedal for the come as you are tone
thr5 has built in chorus, tremolo and flanger
so i'm saving on pedals at the very least lmao
I don't have any effects for my amp damn lucky
modelling amps are great and i love em fr
I'm gonna get an audio interface soon, Behringer UMC22 so I can probably use effects in plugins
FR I should look into those
thr5 has got me covered on that as well
i can use it as an audio interface
def
I'm crying inside
Maybe I should've bought that
it's like extremely versatile
nah i just have an overdrive and distortion
that i just ordered
"have"
basically i just ordered them to cover what my amp couldn't do well
get a thr10ii it's legitimately so good
I wanna get either the kita guitar or a good Les Paul in Japan
What's the difference
different presets and 3 band eq
Shiiit that's actually good af damn
i tried the thr10ii and was convinced to get a yamaha thr
cause it sounded awesome and it was super versatile
my thr5 delivered but man i wish it had a 3 band eq
Man I wish I could try those out
Theres not much of the things I'm looking for here in PH
Im gonna ask my parents to like leave me alone for 2 days in ochanimizu
try seeing if they have some yamaha amps in japan
they are pretty big there i'd say
Oh my god. You don't even know how much shit they have there
It was like a magical place
Where I went they had a fender and Gibson room
Bigger than a small cafe
And most of them are USED
damn
That was just a store inside a mall
wish i could go lmao
I mean atleast u can order stuff via thomann
i can but seeing it in person is a diff experience
There's like $70+ shipping for us
Fair point
How are the guitar shops there in Czech anyways?
Damn
and they have some low quality chinese brands mostly for budget guitars
Donner?
encore
Never heard of it
We got our own brand of pH guitars here but I tried them out and I'm not convinced
probably not worth it
Fender is also expensive here af
I mean it's normal but like s h I t
I'm ngl I don't think I'd ever buy a fender or Gibson
Unless I take guitar as like a serious hobby throughout my entire life
unless you want to become bocchi
in which case.. just get an epiphone honestly
That's actually my plan
I tried this in a store
It's super light and pretty good but didn't get it (I don't have money rn)
shame
also surprised that a les paul is light
the ones i tried were comfortable but quite chunky
I watched a video and it said that if u can get a light Les Paul it's pretty good and might sound better
IKR HAHAHA
Plus no offense but no matter what color you use I find the look of stratocasters boring for me
i like both stratocasters and les pauls
Les Paul has just a beauty unmatched for me
it's mostly just about the pickup config for me lol
But when I think about design I love how the Les Paul looks but it's so uncomfy for me
i found it comfortable, just chunkier than my pacifica lol
My pickups is always set on the humbucker too lmao
Oop brb gonna get food downstairs
i coil split when i play clean but other than that, humbucker
I'll try that next time
Ey imma dinner now let's talk again soon super cool to meet another guitarist who is literally me on this server
have a good meal
